Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Got. Got. Got. Got. Dannyboy, you and your Blu-Ray collection is amazing. Although I must admit I'm a little bit disgusted and concerned that you still seem to have neglected the purchasing of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Also Sucker Punch is so good it makes me cry and ejaculate everywhere. I have many Blu-rays I need to acquire, and thus I work my way through them, slowly, but surely, in accordance with my mood. Rest assured that I will get to Nolan's Batman films eventually.

Coolness Bears Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 All awesome! (well accept Super, but whatever.) BLU RAY BLU RAY BLU RAY. I will be getting me a player in a months time for my birthday it will be sweeeeeeeeeeet as. One of the first Blu rays I want is Scott Pilgrim.
Shorty Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I am sorry but Sucker Punch is easily one of the worst films I have ever tried to watch, ever. And I don't dislike many films at all.
Coolness Bears Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 The main lead is just so whingey and for me not likeable. It is certainly "fun" and does something things unexpectedly but that for doesn't make it good. :p Ellen Page steals the entire film, however. Her role is great.
Goafer Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Insidious was actually pretty good. Got a bit shit in places (mainly towards the end), but some of the set pieces were good. Crank is always a nice bit of silly fun. Plus Amy Smart. No one died. Odd for a horror movie. Quite liked that it didn't rely on creepy deaths for scares. Except the one at the very end for the twist, obviously.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I'd be lying if I said I didn't get Super primarily for Ellen Page in a superhero costume. But like with Sucker Punch I have heard good things about it in addition to the criticism, so I do want to watch it.
ReZourceman Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 People who criticise Sucker Punch don't deserve to have seen it.
Dan_Dare Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I am sorry but Sucker Punch is easily one of the worst films I have ever tried to watch, ever. And I don't dislike many films at all. It's true. I've seen Shorty sit through Wolverine: Origins and Push. The man has a strong cinema stomach.
Paj! Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 People who criticise Sucker Punch don't deserve to have seen it. It's not very good. If it had more of a sense of knowing about it, or was just more camp or just fun, then we could talk. I'm all for stylised/glossy rubbish, mediocre or bad films that have a style that makes them stunning in that respect. Like, Batman and Robin is an amazing film when you start to accept the world it's set in and everything that happens. It's hilare./stunn'. It's just like...don't make a bad film that takes itself seriously, plz. God I hope Man of Steel is good. I have a feeling it will be (not on Nolan's Batman level though).
Ashley Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Sucker Punch is absolutely camp, as long as you don't expect much from it then its fine. It's all bubblegum. Good soundtrack though.
Paj! Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 It didn't agree with me. The soundtrack worked well yeah, had stunners in all corners. Come on Bjork. Come on Emiliana Torrini.
Ashley Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 I just wanted to see shit being destroyed. Although I was shown the first major fight by MPC and then when I began watching the film I thought "how does it lead from this to that...? Or right, with dancing of course."
Happenstance Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) I really expected to like Sucker Punch but it just felt like the ultimate all style no substance movie. Edited September 21, 2011 by Happenstance
Eenuh Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Contact lenses product: €11 Art supplies: €52 Ouch! Didn't even get to buy half of what I needed/wanted. =( Trip to Spain in two weeks: plane ticket + rental car = €243 Yay holiday! And straight after that I'm off to Disneyland haha. Not gonna be home much in October.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) I really expected to like Sucker Punch but it just felt like the ultimate all style no substance movie. This is pretty much all I'm expecting from it. I figure I won't be disappointed then, though I have to admit I expect to like it, so if I don't ... well, I guess I will be disappointed then. (Also note that both the theatrical and extended editions are on the Blu-ray I've ordered. Allegedly the extended edition is supposed to be better.) Edited September 21, 2011 by Dannyboy-the-Dane
ReZourceman Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Sucker Punch took itself seriously? If it did, I didn't get that vibe. It knew exactly what it was. Fucking awesome. (And completely shit at the same time).

I also knew it would most likely be that as well. I just don't think it was a good movie and the main actress was pretty crap in it.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Well, I'm already known for liking bad movies having a different taste in movies than many other people, so I'll remain optimistic for now. :p
