Murr Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 in the days of Cube, Xbox, PS2... i used to treat my cube more than other consoles... purely because it had alot of awesome games. however there were some cube games that i didnt pick up... Chibi Robo Fire Emblem Battilion Wars Pokemon XD and even to an extent Doshin the Giant. i've been browsing on Amazon, eBay etc... and they're still pretty dang expensive to this day, some selling at £49.99 and all sellers make sure to point out that they're rare games. are these games really that rare? can it really be justified that they're still so expensive?
Ganepark32 Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I never thought Battalion Wars or Pokemon XD were that rare as I've seen a few copies when out and about. Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem though, yeh they're expensive to get hold of, even second hand in a store like Gamestation or something. They were released in very small supplies and then I don't think Nintendo/stores bothered to bring many more copies in when the already small number had been sold. So yeh, they're definitely rare and hard to find and as such, they're price is pretty much justified, especially if you find a copy of these that is still factory sealed. It's one of those cases where the prices for these two will continue to go up in years to come because there'll be fewer and fewer copies about.
D_prOdigy Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Ooh, nice to know my copy of Battalion Wars is worth something. But seriously, contrast that with the fact the superior sequel on Wii can be bought for just a few pounds, EVERYBODY can in fact have some BW lovin'
Jonnas Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I haven't seen Gamecube games in shelves in quite a while. Truth be told, the Gamecube sold abysmally in Portugal (which means they weren't common in the first place), so the only games currently available are some old, used, crappy games in specialized stores. That said, Fire Emblem was rare by the time I bought it. I only found it in a Portuguese online store, and even then, they had trouble finding a copy from their British providers (after I ordered, mind you). It took so long, they even apologized. Battalion Wars is rare, as I never saw it anywhere (except in the aforementioned online store). As for Pokémon XD and Chibi-Robo, I've never seen them. If it wasn't for the internet, I would swear their existence was a hoax.
Coolness Bears Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Yes I found this the other day in my non extensive search. The other week I felt like buying Viewtiful Joe because Hulk Davison was in my house and he is born to be wild! but alas the price was too high!
flameboy Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Yeah there are quite a few desirable GC games that seem to have been made in small numbers and their prices will never go down.
Murr Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Yes I found this the other day in my non extensive search. The other week I felt like buying Viewtiful Joe because Hulk Davison was in my house and he is born to be wild! but alas the price was too high! funny you say that as i dug out viewtiful Joe, the old memory cards and my gamecube controller on the weekend and gave it a blast. i never got the 2nd one... or red hot rumble for that matter. i think the 2nd one is pretty reasonable on Amazon.
yesteryeargames Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 anyone got a copy of mario baseball they could sell me ?
Dyson Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I've got Viewtiful Joe 1 and MGS: Twin Snakes for the Gamecube. I had no idea VJ was considered rare!

I rented Viewtiful Joe when I was younger didn't have enough money to buy games. (still don't) Thought it was great but never completed it since I had to give it back! i've not played the second. (or did I?) possibly I have. Definitely not played Red Hot Rumble but did give the DS one ago and it wasn't too bad.
Murr Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 thought of a few more rare games Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia and Skies of Arcadia are all going for pretty expensive on Amazon still. pissed right off about the Chibi Robo & Fire Emblem prices
FalcoLombardi Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 My Skies of Arcadia would always skip at one point in the rock temple (I think) so I was never able to complete the game. Its a shame that its still expensive...
Pancake Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I don't think there's much hope. With no new copies being manufactured why would prices ever go down. I'm glad i picked up most of the important GC games during the GC era.
mr_bogus Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Doshin The Giant was always dirt cheap! Can't believe it's considered rare/expensive. I preferred Viewtiful Joe 2 to 1, the second was more balanced & less punishing, made it generally more fun to play for me. Twilight Pincess GC has ramped up in price quite a bit for new/sealed copies...
jayseven Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Doshin was one of those games that I couldn't find cheaper than £20 for aaages, like Ikaruga, Resi 2 and Resi 3, so I never got it.
Murr Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 Doshin was one of those games that I couldn't find cheaper than £20 for aaages, like Ikaruga, Resi 2 and Resi 3, so I never got it. I'm so glad i got Ikagura when i did. only cost me £14 new... that was back in the Cube era. Resident evil games for cube i bought them all regardless of price back then. just had to do it.
Pancake Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Resident evil games for cube i bought them all regardless of price back then. just had to do it. Me too, didn't even think about it. I'd be the same with the new Zelda and Pikmin.
Ashley Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I have Doshin bwahaha I can also remember thinking for ages thinking I'd lost the disc for Pikmin 2 and was gutted I wouldn't be able to afford to replace it but then found it one day years later. Much joy and dancing was had by all!
Sméagol Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) I've been busy (finally) cleaning my room the last couple of days, and I've gotten a good look at my Cube collection (my whole Nintendo collection actually), and I've given them a nice place in my room now. Got rid of most of my Nintendo stuff (temporarily mind, as in: put them back in their boxes untill I have more space for them and a new TV with more scarts ), but I'll keep the Cube, and I've finally connected the Gameboy Player as well. I don't have many Gameboy games, I bought it pretty much for the collection, since it was only € 10,-. Old stock the store wanted to get rid of at the time. I'm pretty happy with my Cube collection, the only glaring omission is probably Mario Sunshine, I got my Cube late in its lifecycle, and I prioritized games that were hard to find or that were new, so I never came around Sunshine untill it was too late. The few other games I stil intend to get one day that cross my mind are Beyond Good & Evil and Viewtiful Joe 1 (I do have the sequel, picked up for € 5,-), oh and Killer 7 (and perhaps P.N.03 to complete the Camcom 4/5 ). And if at some time I have money to spare and no new games to buy, I may even get non-players choice version of some games I already have, I really hate those covers . Edit: Also, I need a new memory card, as mine is pretty much full, so that'll be a problem if/when I get new Cube games, I'd also like to get hold of a broadband adapter, mainly for the collection, but also for the 2 occasions in my entire lifetime I may need it on a multiplayer party. Oh, and Baten Kaitos: origins, but that's also going to be a problem, since I don't like to mod my hardware, so I'll need to get an US Cube as well.. :|. I was anticipating that game, would it've been released here, I would already have it. Idiots. Out of the 4 games in the opening post, I'd get Chibi Robo no matter what its current price is. It's great, and still worth full value as far as I'm concerned. Fire Emblem is cool too, if you're a fan, but not as cool as Chibi Robo if you ask me. Pokemon, I don't even know what kind of game it is, I'm not really a Pokemon fan, but even then I'd stick mainly with the "real" games, and only get the spin-offs if you're a big fan and you got all the other essential Cube games. I actually bought Batallion Wars full price, and it's one of the few games I regret buying, and this doesn't happen often. The only other Cube game I regret buying is Metal Gear Solid. But for both games few share my opinion . Again though, Chibi Robo, get it now. Edited July 12, 2010 by Sméagol
