drahkon Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I have the Wind Waker limited edition but I never played Master Quest. Bring it on.
Ramar Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Time to start saving for a 3DS. I hope we get that boxart, its too awesome.
Cube Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 http://www.gamerzines.com/ds/news/zelda-3ds-release-date.html Apparently the 17th June for Europe.
Guy Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 If so, that leaked release list the other week was bang on for Zelda. It was off by a week for DOA though, but I wonder what this means for the other titles.
Ike Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 http://www.gamerzines.com/ds/news/zelda-3ds-release-date.html Apparently the 17th June for Europe. The Official Nintendo Magazine have confirmed the date as the 17th. I'm liking NoE's current trend of releasing stuff before NoA, even if it is only 2 days.
Ike Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 It's because we always release games on a Friday. I did not know that.
Grazza Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 It's developed by Grezzo? That's great, that's how remakes should be done. The more creative work has already been done in the original, so for the remake, you just need a good, competent team (and reading between the lines in Iwata Asks, it seems Miyamoto was genuinely impressed with them). I'm far more enthusiastic about getting a Majora's Mask remake now if Grezzo do that as well. Who knows what EAD2 are up to? Maybe Zelda 3DS is closer than we dared hope.
Burny Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Maybe Zelda 3DS is closer than we dared hope. Oh, good! It's only going to take three years instead of four. If Nintendo moves away from the "handheld-handheld" Zeldas and starts to blow up the handheld games of the series to the dimensions of the home console versions (which should definitely be possible), these are the kind of development times I would expect. That's a big if, though. It'll be exciting to see how they plan to differentiate both branches of the series in the future.
Jamba Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 But how long were they developing phantom hourglass for though? Spirit tracks was simply a tweaked engine and that's why the development time was shorter (just like Majora's Mask).
Ronnie Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I've never heard of this Grezzo, and didn't even realise Nintendo outsourced its games to other developers but if it's done well and frees them to work on other games, then great. Re: the box art, I've always liked it when they go minimal as with a lot of past Zelda box designs so could have done without Link and Epona, but that's a major nitpick. Agreed though, hope it gets the shiny treatment.
darksnowman Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Wowsers Dante, maybe its just cos I'm on my phone here, but that art looks really good. Just seeing it has finally warmed me to the idea of this OoT remake.
Ronnie Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Am I missing something on this and the Starfox site? Can you actually do anything in them as of yet? Gorgeous artwork though, really beautiful.
Guy Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) This is what bothers me about Nintendo. "Hey, er, Fakurushimata-san... we have prepared a beautiful piece of artwork for the Ocarina of Time remake. It is a treat for all who see it." "Excellent work, Tsurusamasamasama-san, now... about the box art?" "We are using old stock artwork with a gold filter." "Wonderful... san." --- Nintendo have produced some incredible Zelda artwork over the years, yet we're constantly screwed over in the boxart department. Twilight Princess had a fairly cool cover, but I bet most of the world has never even seen the beauty that is this image: At least give us something a bit more special for the Ocarina remake, Nintendo. This title is hailed as one of the finest you have ever produced. Edited April 13, 2011 by Guy
Retro_Link Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 Site is online. HOLY FUCK!! Loving the 3D'ness to the Zelda Main Page aswell!
Guy Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) One of the Photoshop bosses on Neogaf mocked this up: Please Nintendo. Make it happen. Edited April 13, 2011 by Guy
Shorty Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Couldn't care less about (3)DS box art. Soon as I get it home, the cart comes out and the case sits on a shelf in the spare room, never to be seen again....

It's very simple, they're trying to be traditional, and do what Zelda titles have usually done in the past, and presented the game with a simple shaded background. Usually gold. It sets Zelda games apart from other games, and looks pretty classy IMO, unlike a lot of other over-produced, OTT fanwanky box art.

Guy Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I guess it's only Europe that ends up with horrible Zelda logo boxart. I know most of the stuff to come out of Japan is awesome. That Wind Waker box we got over here with the 10/10 is dreadful. I cry a little every time I see it. Lots superior Zelda boxarts utilising artwork for the games instead of just a simple crappy logo.
Retro_Link Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 My favourite! Just so beautifully simple and iconic, I prefer it over the colour alternative.
