Likewise! My co-big game along with Skyward Sword. :santa:
Nice one! That's gonna be an awesome Christmas gaming combo. icon14.gif

Anyhoo, just unlocked Mirror Mode and the final secret character... :yay:

...Metal Mario.

But I still can't get over the fact that Waluigi isn't in the game! :shakehead (he was my character of choice on MK DS/Wii) Especially as they put Queen Bee from Galaxy in... Random. :heh:

Playing as Wiggler is pretty funny though, nice touch that they added the angry animation when you get hit by an item too.

*EDIT*

Some nice wallpapers have gone up on the JPN site:

I've got the Mario one on my desktop now. :)

Hey guys! Just checking, does the community work and every thing? I'm trying to work out whether the number of 'players' it shows are the ones online or the ones who have joined it.

Either way, wont be playing much online until I complete the single player experience. It'll help prevent my ass being handed to me on a regular basis heh

Interesting reviews for the game and some conflicting opinions about the online play. Like others, I have issues with some who marked MK7 down for failing to innovate when they've praised other games for 'not fixing what ain't broken'. Fans get nervous if their favourite games are changed too much. The addition of a shell can cause a commotion in Mario Kart and with good reason.

Nonetheless, I couldn't give too much of a damn about the reviews. I played the game at Eurogamer Expo - it was great and this is the game that's going to make me buy the 3DS. Is anywhere online doing a bundle deal for the 3DS + MK7? There are loads for Mario Land, which I'll prob pick up eventually but finances are a bit tight so only want to get MK7 to start with.

Pretty sure it only shows players that are online, as when I joined it today it said Players 0, but @Mike joined before me, and obviously you'd be included in the number of players too. :hehe:

I hate mirror mode. Its where I loose interest in single player.
I'm not exactly a fan of it either, although I find it much more annoying online. But with the custom communities it's possible to completely avoid Mirror Mode online now! :yay:

Here's hoping @lostmario, sets the league community as 150cc only.

Game are doing the red 3DS + Mariokart £159.99.

Thanks for that. I think I can get the two on Amazon for £150 though and I guess I may struggle to beat that.

I can't believe I overlooked something that simple haha. Cheers!

Best get around to finishing 150cc and the inevitable mirror mode!

Has anyone else noticed how being on an upwards slope when you get hit is very punishing?

Tell me about it =\ especially when it slopes at an angle too and you have no choice but to fall off the map.

Encountered it a lot when I was doing my "NPC aggravation" experiments. The item system goes fucking insane for the computer players if you're in first place with red shells circling around you with boosts in reserve. I got about 3 blue shells thrown at me by the end of that race.

I am still having issues online - hopefully, someone can explain this

Is anyone able to tell me what my 3DS and router are playing at?

***EDIT***

Am I right in thinking that my router is considering my 3DS as a hacking attack?

Ugh, the single player is such a drag to get through with all the bullshit the computer players pull. Did all of 50cc cups with three stars no problem, same for 100cc. Hit 150cc and I'll be onto a winner until the final ten seconds when lightning bolts and blue shells just start raining from the heavens.

It's even worse when you're gliding over a pit. I've played one cup on 150cc three times now and the blue shell, by some CPU hax, is always waiting for me once I glide over the pit. Looking at you Shy Guy Bazaar...

Posted

Yeah its so fucking unbelievably horse shit that you have to sit through a fifteen minute play session and have it fucked up at the end.

Also WTF is the criteria for three stars? I'm bloody struggling on 100cc cos' of this. Got all 1st places and (I am 96% sure) 10 coins on all tracks but = 2 stars?

What the dealio?

And can someone say a yes or no - are there unlockable/secret characters that havn't been revealed?

You definitely don't need to collect 10 coins on all tracks. Pretty sure it's just overall race time and not falling off the track that gets you 3 stars.

Well I haven't competed Mirror Mode yet, but it's looking like a no I'm afraid. :hmm:

If the timestamps match up to when you think the 3DS is trying to connect then yes. Best way to find out is make sure your not downloading anything else and not have any other devices connected.

You can try allowing ports 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, and 443 (from Nintendo.com, it's for DS but I assume it'll be the same/similar to the 3DS).

The site also lists a range of IP addresses you should add to your trusted list:

192.168.1.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

172.16.1.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

0.0.0.0 subnet mask 255.255.255.255

You could also try adding the 3DS's MAC address to your router as well.

If your getting an error code and haven't done so already, you can enter it here.

If that still doesn't work then I dunno ::shrug:

2 ideas

1st

See if your router has a DMZ option, if you aren't using it already set up your 3DS as the DMZ client.

To do this you'll need to set up your 3DS manually to have a static IP (ie: turn off the DHCP auto IP) You'll need the IP address of your Router to use as the "Gateway" IP on the 3DS and you'll need the IP's of your DNS server which you should be able to see in your router settings.

Give your 3DS an IP from within the routers IP address pool and then set that address as the DMZ client on your router

(hope that makes sense)

OR

2nd option

Go to your router settings and set up the MAC Address filtering to allow only devices with MAC addresses you've entered to connect... if you haven't done so already.... this will also mean adding the MAC address for every other device on your network, laptops, computers, iphones, Wii etc.

My thumb is now so so so sore from ripping through the first 4 cups. in the past 90 mins.

Is there any reason to play through ALL of the cups on ALL of the difficulty settings?

I had some credit to use in GAME so I popped in there and bought it this morning. They were charging £37.99 for this and also Pokemon Rumble. I bought Mario Kart with my credit and decided to leave Pokemon where it was and order it online for £29.99.

With these prices it's no wonder GAME are going downhill. I went to Morrisons for a bit of hopping before I came home and they had Mario Kart for £29.99.

You paid £37.99 for it? Are you utterly insane?! You should take it back, buy it from morrisons and then buy rumble from game when it inevitably comes down in price just after xmas! PERFECT :D

Yep! Tesco are doing it for £29.90. I would have left the store and gone to somewhere else but for the fact that GAME is the only place that sells games in Ealing.

Still, used my rewards card so got a tenner off it, made it more palatable. Thank you Skyrim Collectors Edition pre-order :P

I had credit to use, so I used it. :D I actually want to play Pokemon Rumble more than this, loved the Wiiware version. If I waited for Pokemon to drop in price then I imagine it would be dropped in price online aswell. Either way, i'm not willing to wait for either of these games.

It's a good way of getting coins and unlocking stuff.
