MoogleViper Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Well my sisters boyfriend has just gotten his 360 back from MS after a repair. He has already bought another one so has offered to sell it to me for £70. It is the 20GB version and comes with a controller. What do you people think? I've always wanted a PS3 over a 360 but they are just far too expensive. Do you think I should buy the 360 or wait for the PS3 to come down/ (I'm not paying the current price for PS3s and won't pay more than £200 for a new one. But I have now idea when they will drop below this price.)
Daft Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Get a job - get a PS3. Naa, just messing. I just thought that was a funny slogan. You might as well get it for £70. Then when they lower the price of the PS3 again you could sell it and upgrade (In a manner of speaking).
nightwolf Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Yes, but get a bigger harddrive, easy peasy. You'll still be able to send it for repairs if its needed so its no big deal if it does. Otherwise do as daft says, buy it, keep it til the ps3 finally lowers its prices, sell the xbox and have a discount on a brand new ps3.
Gizmo Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 You're gonna be waiting a while for the PS3 price to drop again considering it just did. Buy the Xbox.
Bren Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Get the xbox, thers so many good games out for it, and most of the big hit titles that are coming at multi-platform anyway. Be prepared to get sucked into XBLA, that eats money :P 20gb is enough if your only using it for save games and XBLA, plus you can delete and re-download those as nd when you need. For £70 thats a good deal imo!
MoogleViper Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) Is BGE2 coming out for 360 as well as PS3? Also has anything about KH3 been announced? Also is the £70 a good price for it? Edited August 19, 2009 by MoogleViper
Dan_Dare Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 £70 is excellent, especially since you'll get a HDD I still have my 20gb and it's fine. You won't need an upgrade.
Cube Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Is BYGE2 coming out for 360 as well as PS3? Didn't the developers say that BG&E2 (unless you're talking about something else) is unlikely to happen? Anyway, if it does happen I would think it'll be both. £70 is a great price. And you probably won't need a bigger HDD for a while (unless you absolutely must install games).

I thought that they said that it was happening but it wasn't necessarily going to be BG&E2. (Meaning that the game of which we saw the footage for was coming out but wasn't necessarily going to be a Beyong Good and Evil sequel.)
martinist Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 hookers and booze Moogle! you know you want it!
dwarf Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I'd get the 360, then if you want the PS3 as well at a later date, or get bored of the 360 for whatever reason sell it for monies.
Noodleman Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 £70 is a pretty good price for a 360 and there's a large enough back catalogue of cheapish games to keep you going for a while let alone any future games.
Shorty Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hells to the yeah get it! Shit, where's my RARRGH! smiley gone.
Shino Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 When I saw the thread I thought "Nah he should go for a PS3 at the moment" but for 70£, I'll buy it if you don't.
Pantsu Man! Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 For that price yes. Isn't the PS3 coming down in price in September? To about 250? Wait the new one is that price. You might be able to get an old Ps3 for about 200 then? Hang on, a PS3 is gonna be costing the same price as a PSP Go... what the hell.
Beast Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Get it. They might break at some point in the future but it's so much fun and it's worth it for that price so I say go for it!
MoogleViper Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 Why haven't any PS3 voters voiced their opinions? Cowards. Also what does a 360 look like on an SD TV? I have a 21" CRT.

Because even they can't argue with £70. Anyway, it looks a bit blurry (then again, that's compared to HDTV), but I believe that the only main SDTV complaints are Dead Rising and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (and the problems in Nuts & Bolts have been patched). I believe that the 360 renders things in HD then scales down to SD, so you get a slightly better picture than if it just rendered in SD.

I just don't want it to look rubbish. But it will look better than, say, the Wii will on an HDTV?
Cube Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I'm not bothered about it being HD. I just don't want it to look rubbish. But it will look better than, say, the Wii will on an HDTV? There isn't really an easy way to compare it. The graphics will be a lot better, but the image quality may not be - but that's mainly because HTDVs generally have better colour/contrast. I've played a fair few 360 games on a 14" SDTV without any problems.
S.C.G Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Also what does a 360 look like on an SD TV? I have a 21" CRT. They look average... alternatively, got a spare LCD monitor lying around? if so then get the VGA cable as using a cheap monitor is a good middle-ground, better than a CRT but not as good as a decent HDTV set imo, worth considering anyway, I had a monitor that was surplus to my requirements when I bought my last PC, so I gave it to my bro when he got a 360 and games look fine on that.
Dan_Dare Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I use my pc monitor. It's pretty good. Not HDTV good like S.C.G said but it's definitely better than an SDTV the VGA cables also has audio cables so you can use a hi-fi for sound.
MoogleViper Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 I think I'll do that then. I have an LG LCD monitor. 19", 5000:1, 8ms (I think, might be less, certainly no more). Trouble is it's the monitor I use for my PC. Anyone know of a good splitter or box that doesn't give any ghosting?
