Kav Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) Thinks you're all overexaggerating a bit. It's got left to right, right to left and overhead. That's three. Heavy and light. That's six. Three different angles per side-swing. That's 12. Plus parry, dodge and block. Plus finishers. And the promise of it not looking mechanical. Seems ample to me. Yes it has more than 3 attacks but it's 3 "types" of attack that seems limited... no thrusting, grabbing or throwing etc is a little of a let down, especially a thrust motion... I want to stab as well as slash! Haha. However, regardless of how sceptical I sound, it's on my radar because of HVS's attitude toward creating games. They've impressed me with how they really listened to feedback from gamers themselves to create The Conduit! Edited May 26, 2009 by Kav
dazzybee Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Does that stage look IDENTICAL to Chun Lis stage in Street Fighter 2?!??! This one
D_prOdigy Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hey lovelies, @mattign here. Tune into IGN Wii tonight to see a seriously kick-ass Wii game from High Voltage Software. You will like this. I wish they'd stop doing it at night.
Hero-of-Time Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hey lovelies, @mattign here. Tune into IGN Wii tonight to see a seriously kick-ass Wii game from High Voltage Software. You will like this. Speaking on behalf of myself, if its like this then no, no I wont!
nekunando Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 ..is there something wrong with me? I admire the amount of effort High Voltage Software are putting into their games and I wish more developers would do the same.. but I'm finding it impossible to get excited about this or The Conduit I'm really hoping the next unveiling is more to my liking.. and that comment from Matt raises my hopes further
dwarf Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Looks like High Voltage really upped the ante! Which version of Paint did they use to create this?
Fierce_LiNk Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Personally, I think this could turn out pretty well. It's different to what's out there, and I think High Voltage are just aiming in giving Wii owners some variety. There aren't a lot of shooters, racers or fighters on the Wii, so there's always room for expansion in these areas.

STOOPIDDITTIES Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Really hoping this turns out to be nothing like Spartan: Total Warrior... And i'm still confused as to wether or not this will be a 3D slash-em up or will play more like a traditional beat-em up.
mcj metroid Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 to be fair smash bros brawl has 2 types of attacks also.. a normal and special.. but it's how you use them e'g charge attack etc.. So i wouln't worry about the amount of attacks.. we should have more faith in the devs to think past this.
Noku Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I don't think this'll be anything like any game we (the plural "I") know. Tactics will play a huge part, and I expect set pieces with carriages and team brawls and the like. Really, really don't understand how some people aren't hyped. This'll be like The Gladiator, but, you know, without the scrotum.

Noku Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 You know, Russell Crowe... http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/14350710/gladiator-ad/videos/gladiator_trl_extremeviolence_52609.html Trailer over at IGN. For my own part, I think that any doubts surrounding whether or not they have successfully captured the atmosphere are hereby removed (or should be). What it does do however, is raise questions with regard to the gameplay itself, which seems to be some sort of over-the-shoulder-cam, locked or not in horizontal axis at all times (hope not).
Zechs Merquise Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 It's great to see that HVS are clearly trying to fill a lot of gaps in the Wii software library. I admire them for it, but this really doesn't look like my cup of tea.
STOOPIDDITTIES Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Trailer Not too sure what to think of it now to be honest... Graphically it looks great, but gameplay-wise maybe a little repetetive. I'll reserve my judgements for now though.
Goron_3 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Right is it just be or does the combat look dreadful and the animations very blocky?
Shino Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Does are some amazing graphics, but I don't think they showed any actual gameplay, its basically a tech demo.
Emasher Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I'm not a big fan of that trailer. Hopefully you're right though and that's just a tech demo.
Zechs Merquise Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Whilst The Grinder has really peaked my interest, after watching the trailer, this does look a little 'meh'.
Noku Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Looks to be more of a montage than actual gameplay. And the animations are far from blocky, that's beyond subjectivity if you ask me. Big ass lol at all the "needs to be less generic" comments across fora.
RedShell Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 This reminded me of that classic Simpsons episode ... Only this time I feel like Lisa, instead of Bart.
Noku Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 BONESTORM! I'm like Bart. But mind you, think that the Lisa-side of me (like you know, whatever) is expecting this to be more fleshed out story-wise than you'd expect.
darksnowman Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Actually thought it looked kinda alright. Clearly still a work in progress! I find it difficult to imagine what the gameplay is gonna be like at this point, but from the video I'm seeing it as a more real time Monster Lab.
Noku Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) Newer trailer, better trailer. Your thoughts? Edited May 29, 2009 by Retro_Link
Retro_Link Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Better trailer, but still don't think it's my type of game. Are some of the character models too over detailed or something, is that why they appear kinda pixelated. They really need to get the colluseums/arena's packed full of atmosphere.
