Well, I've decided to make a real 10 of canned games.

Rules:

*Any format goes

*The game actually has to have been confirmed in development, or obviously planned (in other words, Shenue III goes, Mario 64 2 doesent)

*The game may not have been released on any format

*Renamed or rebadged games don't count (so no Dinosaur Planet, as it was changed to become Starfox Adventures)

Here's my list:

1) Shenmue III

Without Shenmue III, we'll never get the end of the series. The first 2 games were amazing, so the third would have been awsome

2) Propeller Arena

It was supposed to be the last dance of the Dreamcast, and was virtually finished when the 9/11 attacks happened, and the game was canned due to containing a level where you fly among skyscrapers. A deathmatch arena game with propeller planes by the team behind Beach Spikers, Shenmue, Afterburner and Outrun. It would have kicked ass.

3) Project Hammer

Not because it was an interresting concept of smashing stuff with a hammer, but because it was so different for Nintendo.

True Fantasy Live.

Back when the only form of online gaming I could do was through my original Xbox, I could not wait for this game to come out (Never played a MMORPG back then, so this was gunna be a first), and it had support for headsets aswell, which just sounded awesome.

Alas it was cancelled and I cried :(

The options have been narrowed down as it would have been cool to see Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 0 and Dinosaur Planet on the N64..

I won't forget the big orange Video Tape that came with N64/NGC where I was dazzled by Wave Race: Blue Storm for the first time.. but, more to the point, it showed Raven Blade and Galleon for the Gamecube (though I have a suspicion the latter got moved to Xbox..)

Raven Blade

Also on N64:

Rev Limit

And let's not forget Donkey Kong Racing ..or the 'Capcom 5's' Dead Phoenix..

Does anyone remember CatRoots? :heh:

1). Catroots...Hell yes! And I thought it looked awesome :)

2). I'd have liked to have seen Dinosaur Planet (NOT SF Adventures):

3). Donkey Kong Racing (seemed like the perfect adaption to DKR.)

Yeh.. I totally agree about Dinosaur Planet! I love Starfox Adventures and it is a stunning game visually.. but the N64 version just looked awesome too!

I know it was.. and I referred to that in my first post.. I'm just saying it would have been cool to see it on the N64 instead too.. before the Starfox team was brought in..

Sorry I thought you posted 'I totally forgot about Dinosaur Planet'!

I don't think Project Hammer is cancelled. I think its just one of those games that'll sit on the backburner and then randomly launch.

Had forgotten about Donkey Kong Racing and Dinosaur Planet...

Wow, after looking at that video I understand why IGN said Dead Phoenix could be transformed into Kid Icarus Wii...

The Getaway PS3

I thought it looked very good. The predecessors had great potential, but was released on a weak system that couldn't successfully do the ambitious concept.

Sonic Xtreme

Looks a bit like Mario Galaxy, doesn't it?

Made by STI, makers of Sonic 2 and 3. It was supposed to be released on Saturn around the same time as Mario 64, but was cancelled after "development hell". It only went downhill for Sega after that...

Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels

A video teaser was released and an interactive demo was shown at E3, but shortly afterwards this game was also cancelled.

Jet Set Radio 2 - Dreamcast

Didn't that just become JSRF? We'll never get another JSR... :(

Donkey Kong Racing looked class. They should bring it back! I'd forgot about Sonic Xtreme that Cubey mentioned- it had the potential to be class and still would be, in a retro way if it was ever to see release.

Jet Set Radio 2 was released for the Xbox, named JSR Future.

Monkey ball 3 was never announced, although a third game in the series does exist: Monkey Ball Adventure.

Dinosaur Planet will not end up on this list, because it's basically Starfox Adventures, only with different characters, worse graphics and no Arwing scenes.

Black and White did come out for the PC. Colin McRae 2 did come out for PC and PS.

Was Daytona USA 3 ever planned? I can't recall anyone mentioning it in any mag back in the day. Nor have I heard of a DC version of Wipeout.

From What I remember Jet Set Radio 2 was still planned for the Dreamcast even when JSRF was announced for the xbox. I remember magazines saying the DC was gonna get the true sequel etc. My Bro even wrote an email to one of them SEGA mags saying he felt let down that Sega was moving games to the Xbox and they replied in the magazine saing JSR2 was still being released on the DC. Colin McRae 2.0 was 99% complete on the DC but codemasters still cancelled. I was seriously gutted at the time.

Yeah I pretty sure Wipeout was originally planned for the Dreamcast you know.
