Animal Crossing®: City Folk Format: Wii™ Launch Date: Holiday 2008 ESRB: RP (Rating Pending) Game Type: Community Simulation Accessories: WiiSpeak microphone (sold separately) Players: 1-4 alternating, 2-4 simultaneous via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection Developer: Nintendo KEY INFORMATION If life were an endless vacation, what would you do? Go fishing, collect shells or watch fireworks with friends? Build a snowman, exchange presents with family or decorate your house for the holidays? Take a trip to the city, go on a shopping spree or visit friends from all over the globe? In Animal Crossing: City Folk, life moves at a relaxed pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities. • There’s always something new to do. In the living, breathing world of Animal Crossing: City Folk, days and seasons pass in real time, so there’s always something to discover. Catch fireflies in the summer, go trick-or-treating on Halloween or hunt for eggs on Bunny Day. If you’re in the mood for something a little faster paced, take a bus to a new urban city area that’s unique to Animal Crossing: City Folk. There you can catch a show at the theater or check out the sales at Gracie’s boutique. But if you don’t show your face blong, your neighbors will miss you. Up to four people from your household can live and work together to build the perfect town. Design clothes and patterns, write letters and post messages on the bulletin board for each other, or invite up to three friends to visit your town using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With the new WiiSpeak microphone, it’s like you’re all in the same room. The microphone sits atop the sensor bar and picks up the conversation of everyone in the room to encourage a more inclusive experience. • Get to know your neighbors. The heart of Animal Crossing: City Folk is building relationships with the animals in your town as well as with other players. Befriend your animal neighbors by exchanging letters, gifts and favors. Animals can also move from town to town, bringing their memories and stories from their old towns with them. And since animals are notoriously loose-lipped, they spill all the juicy details. • Express your personal style. Customize your town, your house and yourself by collecting bugs, fish, fossils, art, furniture, clothes and accessories. You can also go to the salon in the city to change your hairstyle and get a Mii™ makeover. Plus, if you design clothes in the tailor’s sbring them to other towns.

Ashley Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 I think they're alright. Have the same AC charm, just a bit smoother.
Owen Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Looks..very similar to the other Animal Crossing's (the actual place you live in etc...) but i do love it! 2008 for Europe? hmmmm, fingers crossed, not sure though.
Owen Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Id say Easter 2009. Yeah, March 2009. November 2008 for Japan December 2008 for America. Thats my guess!

flameboy Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I have to say this is the biggest thing to come out of E3 this year for me. I love Animal Crossing...and for me they may have added enough new stuff to get me into this one.
ssj Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 This game is the only Nintendo thing Im excited about this E3. It looks very impressive
Aimless Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 This is looking far too similar to Wild World at the moment, so hopefully there's some more substantial additions to be announced before it comes out. It's nice that they've improved upon the communication aspect — being able to message the Wii Message Board, e-mail addresses, or mobile phones directly — but personally I'm not a huge fan of voice chat. Here's hoping that actually getting online is less laborious then it is in WW. I've always thought that Animal Crossing on the DS was a bit of a missed opportunity, and sadly this is looking like it might go the same way. I want to be able to have a frisbee match with people, play some two-player NES games in a friend's house, go on treasure hunts, etcetera. I'm sure it will be a good game, and there's certainly plenty of time for Nintendo to unveil things to catch my interest, but at the moment I can't help but feel I've played this game twice already.
gaggle64 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Looks decent, but surely once you've seen one AC, you've seen them all?
ThePigMarcher Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Wasn't too sure about the city aspect but it could work out quite well but in general there should be enough in the game to make me want it (enjoyed the first one) , may as well anyway , as there doesn't appear to be much else worth buying. Wii speak should be great , and is probably the best game for Nintendo to try this with , especially as the likes of Strikers and Mario Kart usually involve many swearwords on my part.
ShadowV7 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Looks alright. Though I only really like the whole mic thing. Hope they use it in other games.
ssj Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 watching the trailer seperate from the rest of the ''show'' makes me smile more
Retro_Link Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 LOADS of screens: http://www.gamekyo.com/news28266_animal-crossing-city-folks-first-screens.html
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Im kinda disappointed. There doesnt seem to be enough changes to warrant a purchase for me. I dont like the 3D view much, I would prefer a normal top down view instead. And I would also prefer if it didnt look like they couldnt be arsed to update the visuals.
Emasher Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 This is probably the only game mentioned during the conference that I'll buy. It looks awesome. My prediction was right except the city isn't MMO. Shame the microphone doesn't come with it though.
navarre Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I have this theory that once you've played one AC game, you've played them all. Despite this, I've purchased both games in the series so far, and will likely get this too. It sounds great.
