stuwii Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I can bet you anything that when these shots came out, you thought wow! the Wii can compete with 360. How did it go so wrong?
blender Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 i agree Ubisof make me vomit and I am not likely to buy any of their games soon (unless 2nd hand- even then i struggle to think of a good wii game)
Gizmo Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 The biggest con of our time? Oh, come on. The first screenshots of a game rarely represent the final package.
James McGeachie Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Most of the shots were rendered way above Wii resolution, it was amazing people bought into them. The only huge different really though in the actual graphics is the fact they're completely anti aliased.
stuwii Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 The biggest con of our time? Oh, come on. The first screenshots of a game rarely represent the final package. Yes they are normally worse.
Retro_Link Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 But anyways, not so much the picture you posted, but I remember the very first magazine scans making me think the Wii was almost up their with the 360, That pictures almost up their with Rainbow Six Vegas!
Shino Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What a day it was, the first images of a Wii game, the internet was orgasming. If only we knew...
stuwii Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 If every Wii game looked like this it would be over for 360
Slaggis Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 If every Wii game looked like this it would be over for 360 Thats crap. I'm sorry, but each console has it's own audience. So saying stuff like that is pointless. -- Yup, people lie. It happens.
Zell Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Well even if the game did end up with 360 graphics, it wouldn't stop it being a pile of wank.
That Guy Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 If every Wii game looked like this it would be over for 360 Why the hell do you keep going on about 360 and it's graphics? In every thread you make, you go on about 360, and comparing the graphics to Wii. Why? They are miles apart. And what do you mean 'It would be over for 360'? Of course it wouldn't. People buy 360's because of the quality of games on 360. People don't buy a console based on how bad another is. They buy it because of how good the one they want is. This thread is kind of pointless isn't it? Not really a discussion. *Stuwii* "Red Steel's graphics are crap" *Everyone else* "Er..Yeah"
Fresh Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 The biggest con of our time? Oh, come on. The first screenshots of a game rarely represent the final package. Pre-release material for Pong: Actual Pong Dunno What you are on about, looks the same to me.
DCK Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Get used to it. If you thought the Wii could compete graphically you were deluding yourself anyway, no need to blame Ubi for it.
Daft Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 If every Wii game looked like this it would be over for 360 Compare this: To or Case closed. The Wii has its own selling points and those screenshots never looked close to the 360. Ok, those games are new but I could easily have posted GoW.
Cube Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Those shots look close to the final game. It's just that the best thing about those shots - the effects - didn't look great in their full animated form. If you look at the models/textures in the shots you'll see that they're pretty low quality.
James McGeachie Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Yeah people over exaggerate just how much of "bullshots" those are, plenty of the worst things about the game don't come through in stills, like the chuggy framerate. The only big difference with those screens is that they're rendered at way higher than Wii resolution, giving them a nice crisp and clear look and of course they have full antialiasing. Other than that there's poor shadowing, low res tectures and the lighting is nothing special. All that really makes it feel good looking there is the visual style they had for the character models, which is practically the same in the final game too, just not anywhere near as good looking with tons of aliasing. Also the fact they've got as many things happening as they could friggin fit on the screen to make it look explosive and exciting. Now the first trailer for the game on the other hand, the very first teaser...now THAT was bull. The animation and everything in that was vastly superior to the real game, it was very clearly pre-rendered just to an "approximate level" of how the game would look.
DCK Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What he said ^ With some luck, Red Steel 2 will manage to look kind of like that shot, without that degree sharpness. The Wii is perfectly capable of that.
Goron_3 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What he said ^ With some luck, Red Steel 2 will manage to look kind of like that shot, without that degree sharpness. The Wii is perfectly capable of that. Well after hearing how badly the game is getting along atm i'm not that confident... It's a shame because if a developer like Retro was behind this they would easily tap into the games potential.
DCK Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What do you mean? We hardly know anything of Red Steel 2, except that it's in the works. Its earliest release date it'll get is Q4 this year, so we can properly judge later this year. I think that considering the lower pressure on the team, their determination in improving RS and better Wii technology will make RS2 look a lot better.
Chris the great Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 i like red steel, the sword fighting was poor but it had some fairly good gun fights. graphics of twilight princess arnt as good as space world 2000 demo, its to be expected, its disshonest, yes, but it not like red steel was in goldeneye graphics. its comparable to the shot, and remember, the game was presured into an early release, its a shame the game didn't meet expectations, but had their been hype people would have enjoyed the game more.
killthenet Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 The graphics of Twilight Princess are certainly a lot better than the Spaceworld 2000 demo. Just look at these shots, same resolution but TP is much better looking, the textures in the Spaceworld demo just don't compare.
