Guest Captain Falcon Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Just watched episode three of The Chaser's War on Everything on iPlayer. In Australia, it's on it's third (i think it's the third anyway) series, but this series on BBC4 is a compilation of the first two series so I'm led to believe. Regardless, it was really, really funny, but then it always is and I can't recommend it enough. This was probably my favourite sketch from the show and I urge you to check it out.
Paj! Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I managed to evacuate the dining room before I could lose anymore of my brain cells to Katie and Peter Stateside. I hate them both.
EEVILMURRAY Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 That Psychoville bullshit. The sentence explains it all.
Retro_Link Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Celebrity Masterchef Final Love it!! Wanted Jayne to win right from the start (think she's lovely, always had a bit of a crush on her) and she only went and did it!! Her food looked fantastic!! Masterchef's always delivers awesomeness!
Ashley Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Veronica Mars - Spit and Eggs Combination of it being on Virgin TV on Demand and the Twitter Trending Topic I decided to rewatch this. More rapists should be stopped using unicorns. The world would be a safer and more magical place. Plus Kristen Bell does have awesome and purdy hair even when under attack. *pops date rape testing coaster in girl's drink whose with frat boy* "Here. If it turns red he's trying to rape you. If it doesn't he's still probably trying to rape you." We need more people like her. Blair Waldorf may be a bitch, but she hasn't got a patch on Veronica
Molly Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Inside Nature's Giants: The Whale An autopsy of a massive fin whale that had died off the coast of Ireland. Of course it was really gross at times, but it was also quite interesting. Little things that you don't think about; whales evolved from land mammals so their up and down motion in the water is descendant from a four legged animal running, whereas fish and sharks have a horizontal motion when they swim. They also still have a hind leg bone that over time has been retracted into the body; it has no use now, almost like an evolutionary 'side effect'. I do find it astonishing how anyone could not believe in evolution. Anyway, good programme.
ipaul Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Generation Kill - 9/10 Just very good all round. House - 8/10 He's the man, yo
ReZourceman Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Inside Nature's Giants: The Whale Got this on cheeky Sky +. However....* I do find it astonishing how anyone could not believe in evolution. Heh heh. *It won't get watched for a while due to like 6 or so episodes of Louis Theroux I'd never seen (recorded yesterday) Louis Theroux Weird Weekends....the one in Harlem/Islamists/Black supremacists. Crazy interesting. Astonishing, just. As good as documentary viewing can get. 9.5/10
Ashley Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Entourage (or 'Dicks with Money') - Season 6 Premiere 'Drive' So the lil' boys from Queens are growing up eh? Nice to see the self-centrered life of excess dynamic still exists but they're pursuing their own things. Plus more good use of music, always a good show to listen to. Plus Ari/Lloyd awesomeness: Lloyd: "I will make it through this Ari." Ari: "It'll be more painful than when you popped your ass cherry but maybe you will."
dan-likes-trees Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Entourage (or 'Dicks with Money') - Season 6 Premiere 'Drive' So the lil' boys from Queens are growing up eh? Nice to see the self-centrered life of excess dynamic still exists but they're pursuing their own things. Plus more good use of music, always a good show to listen to. Plus Ari/Lloyd awesomeness: Lloyd: "I will make it through this Ari." Ari: "It'll be more painful than when you popped your ass cherry but maybe you will." I was thinking about picking up Season 1 (It's only like a tenner) Would it be a good buy? Care to give a brief summary?
Ashley Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I think "Dicks with Money" is a good summarisation :p The first episode didn't grab me but I accidentally watched the whole first season one day (I couldn't be bothered to turn it off until I found out there's only about 9 episodes) but umm its about a up and coming movie start and his friends (one of whom is his less successful elder brother) who feed his ego. You either love their self-absorbed narcisstic hedonistic lifestyle or you loathe them, but I find it entertaining. Plus there are celebrities popping up all over the place, either as themselves or as other fictional people. And then of course there is Ari Gold. The pinnacle of what it means to be a man; short-tempered, curses like a sailor raised in an inner-city ghetto, biggoted in every possible way...but still over-ruled by his wife. He's the definition of cunt, but so entertaining.
ipaul Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Freefall - 6.5/10 Fairly good drama about the credit crunch, but felt rushed (as well it might) and probably needed a bit more time to develop things properly.
Cube Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 (edited) Warehouse 13 (Episodes 1-3) A detective show with a twist (which seems to be the first person shooter of TV). This involves some secret agents going after supernatural artifacts. It's not great, and the CGI on the Warehouse is terrible. But it's fairly entertaining. Would be better with good characters. Edit: Oh, and it contains Tricia Helfer hotness in the second/third (i.e. one after pilot) episode. Edited July 16, 2009 by Cube
Cube Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Dollhouse - Epitaph One It's a great episode...but it's extremely spoilerific. It feels as if this episode was created because Joss didn't expect Fox to give us a second season (then again, nobody expected a second season). The episode takes place in the future and shows us where the story is heading, and roughly how it's going to happen. This isn't a throwaway episode (which is what I expected for a just-for-DVD episode). It's the final episode of the show. Luckily there's a lot of details still left open, but I'm not really looking forward to season 2 quite as much now that I know the story. It's still a great episode, and I'm sure that season 2 will be fantastic, but I would recommend not watching this episode...yet. Leave it until the show is over/10
Happenstance Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Watched that episode this morning myself, very interesting
Josh64 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Watched the last episode of the Inbetweeners today, Ive loved it as a series. I remember I watched one as everyone said how great it was and I didn't really like it but after watching a few on 4oD I thought it was brilliant and ended up watching both series. Its so funny, I love it Bus wankers.
Pyxis Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I watched the last episode of Pole to Pole with Michael Palin, it was pretty good, but the series paled in comparison to Around the World in 80 Days. I'd give the series as a whole 8/10. I watched Monty Python's Happy Valley and Gumpy Brain Specialist sketches. They deserve 8/10 and 10/10. Journey to the West Series 2 (2000) Episode 6: The Arhats defeat the Roc. 11/10.
Retro_Link Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Dara O'Briain's stand up thing, Feckin' Hillarious!! reckon I'd love to see him live.
Ashley Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Dollhouse - Epitaph One [clipped]but I would recommend not watching this episode...yet. Leave it until the show is over/10 I reccomend otherwise. Its a debate I keep seeing about Caprica; whats the point in watching a show if you know how it turns out? Well, the ride of course. But I don't see this spoiling it. I think now that you know the cues it will make your viewing more focused. It would be like trainwreck television; you know its going to end in disaster but you are compelled to watch. I really am curious about Caroline now, with what we saw with her in the lift. And Joss Whedon really seems to dislike LA, he's offed it twice now :p
Eddage Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 One Tree Hill - Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly I cannot begin to describe how much I love this show, and this episode is just so powerful to me. The only time I've been anywhere near to tears whilst watching a TV program - beautiful.
Retro_Link Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Yeah was a good episode. The scene between Jamie and Q's brother was a cool, and the end monalogue... 'some people used to say it was like he was flying... well he can now.'
Ellmeister Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 One Tree Hill - Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly I cannot begin to describe how much I love this show, and this episode is just so powerful to me. The only time I've been anywhere near to tears whilst watching a TV program - beautiful. Did it have Get Cape in it? He's a local boy from my town!
Eddage Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Did it have Get Cape in it? He's a local boy from my town! No, I'm afraid not. The title was fitting to the episode though (something One Tree Hill does quite often)
