Ronnie Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Glee - Laryngitis Awesome episode. Not been too convinced with the quality of the show since it returned from that mid-season break, but this was comfortably the best episode since then. Fantastic song choices and performances, a brilliant and completely apt and effective mixture of laughs every 30 seconds and genuine heartbreaking/warming emotion and just basically FUN. Great stuff.
Ashley Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 How I Met Your Mother - The Wedding Bride 1) Continuity yay! 2) Judy Greer 3) Malin Ackerman!! 4) "He didn't say kiss" The Big Bang Theory - The Staircase Implementation Flashback/origin episodes can be so...meh. But perhaps its because they went for the easy "look what weird hair they had!" route. But it was okay. Gossip Girl - Last Tango, Then Paris Oh the wacky drama those kids lead! Its pure crap, but entertainingly so. I wish I could summer in Paris. Damn rich kids.
Beast Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 True Blood Season 2 Finale Loved how it ended. Stun. Oh and this show...LITERALLY has the two sexiest red heads I've ever seen. I can't describe how much that (I love the second ones character) and how they both just absolutely ooze sex appeal, literally giving me too hard of a boner. (oh, the second one is Evan Rachel Wood. I know the name, but didn't know the face apparently.) Deborah Ann Woll Evan Rachel Wood (Too sexy as a red head sex obsessed pool side dweller) Episode 8.9/10 Season 9/10 Bring on Season 3. I agree, both of them are seriously hot. Jessica is awesome.
SPAMBOT4000 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 House Season 6 Finale... :yay: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! :yay: I know some of you don't care for a bit of Huddy but I do and it's been 6 seasons coming. Love it.
Daft Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 House Season 6 Finale... :yay: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! :yay: I know some of you don't care for a bit of Huddy but I do and it's been 6 seasons coming. Love it. Just watched this too. Great episode. It's going to be weird with those two. I can't picture it. I think Cuddy rocks. My problem with House season finales is that they'll never be one as good as season 4's double. Which I think is probably the best season finale I've ever seen.
Ashley Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Glee - the one with NPH Dear lord. I know "you can achieve your dreams" is a good message but does it have to be SMACKED OVER OUR FACE ever week? that the Artie scene was a fantasy as I wouldn't have been surprised if it wasn't. I'm glad I won't have to watch this again though. Such a predictable crock. The sad thing is nobody complains they are repeating the plot every week but would if they repeated the songs. Its the worst example of style over substance. And when will they learn that nobody is concerned that Glee club may be cut? Every week there's the threat but its so fucking obvious it won't be. Just stupid.
Cube Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Glee - NPH The episodes like this and the ones with Chenoweth make for some pretty jarring experiences. You have an actor who can both sing and act well interacting with a bunch of much poorer and more annoying actors. It's especially worse as they seem to get them to do a duet with Shoe. The duet between alternated between ear pain and falling in love (same with the Chenoweth one, too). It was also great how that long-winded speech (with a metaphor was completely wrong - most stars that die turn into a lump of mass that gives off a small amount of light for the rest of it's life, and some can blossom into a new star) was ignored and replaced with "You're bribing me? Awesome!" Edited May 19, 2010 by Cube
Ronnie Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I'm not sure you're supposed to take Glee that seriously guys. It's just predictable, unrealistic fun. Anyway isn't that episode on next week? How have you guys seen it.

How have you guys seen it. I'm with Ronnie on this one. I don't take Glee seriously whatsoever, it's just a bit of predictable escapism for me. Yeah it can be stupid at times but I'm not expecting it to be the best thing since sliced bread or something. I like it for what it is. Cheesy, predictable fun. Also Ronnie, they've probably seen it on TV Shack or something
SPAMBOT4000 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 La La Land Episode 3 & 4 Only just started watching this after I saw an article about it on the Guardian website the other day. It really is just awesome. So, so funny. Marc Wootton is a character comedy genius. Very much like a darker Sacha Baron Cohen in places. Really, get yourselves on iPlayer on quick. Just wish I could have caught the first two episodes before they were removed.
Coolness Bears Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 How I Met Your Mother - The Wedding Bride. I really enjoyed this. I thought it was a very good episode, bit of a rush ending to get it back to status quo. Twas nice to see Judy Greer again, she was in the Big Bang Theory last week. (I think) Also Malin Ackerman. Everyone was on top form. Two and a Half Men Season 3 Better than 1 and 2 but still not good. Kandi adds some fun to the show and it as good to see lengthier relationships but I do not care about the characters accept CharliexRose weirdly needs to happen. Mia was just annoying. Set up for a good finae but ruined entirely by the opener of Season 4. The show will forever be stuck in mediocrity but it is such an easy show to watch at 4 in the morning when you really should have gone to sleep.

Also Ronnie, they've probably seen it on TV Shack or something As I've argued before the problem is Glee takes itself serious (not all the times, I am aware). This whole "be who you are and love yourself!" at its most simple/occuring but then the whole baby dramas and stuff like that are 'serious' things they approached seriously, but then plonked it in the middle of a load of crap. And shows like 30 Rock, Sit Down, Shut Up and Gossip Girl aren't supposed to be taken seriously but at least they don't repeat the same storyline every week. I don't dislike Glee because its cheesy or irrelevant or anything. I hate it because it could be so much better. There are some great musicals out there that don't take themselves seriously and I do enjoy them but Glee just doesn't do anything right (in my book).

Since the majority of the stories on Gossip Girl revolve around the various Characters relationships, and they've all dated each other about 4 times each during the run so far. It's safe to say all the story lines do repeat just about every week.

It's safe to say all the story lines do repeat just about every week. Yeah but that's teens :p (and they did address it "not even when you dated Nate, then Chuck, then Nate, then Chuck again?"). The background storylines are fairly different (e.g. daddy issues, drugs, Cortellians). Want to write a Glee episode? 1) Sue threatens to close down/destroy/thwart the Glee club 2) Shu moans 3) The principal just sits back and shrugs 4) Someone sings 5) Someone has some relationship drama 6) Someone else sings 7) Someone has self doubt 8) Another song 9) Sue and Shu scowl at each other 10) Sue says something harsh to someone random 11) Another song 12) Someone reaffirms to whoever was having self doubt that they're amazing and Glee club is a place "to just be yourself" 13) The relationship drama is fixed in one way or another 14) Kurt is an annoying cunt 15) A "big closing number"

Dan_Dare Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Formulaic shows can work fine- just look at House or Chuck, but at least they're well written enough to use the formula as the basis for bigger, better things and aren't afraid to ditch it if need be.
Ganepark32 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Glee can F off for all I care! They ruined Journey's Don't Stop Believin' Whoever came up with the idea to have them sing that in the show and then include it on the soundtrack so tweeny kids can run around singing it should be shot.
Paj! Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 As opposed to the sophistication and artistry of the original? :p They're both as cheesy/tweeny-loved as each other, eccept Journey's is better.
SPAMBOT4000 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I am now going to watch this on your recommendation. Cos' I love you. And you know I love you. And I love you. In a friends way. And in a sexual way. I think you'll like it. If not then umm... well, shitcakes.
Daft Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) I know it just started a minute ago but the Junior Apprentice sucks ass. I do enjoy watching stupid people, hence why I watch the normal one, but this show has single handedly destroyed my faith in children - and that faith was only restored by... Easy come, easy go. Yes, this post was an excuse to mention Hit Girl. Edit: Also, maybe I just don't remember what Coolness looks like, but Arjun? Edited May 19, 2010 by Daft
jayseven Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Just caught up with House... Well clearly the next season is about 13 and her huntington's, as well as house and his relapse/cuddy thing. I guess they're not going to repeat the "it's all an hallucination!" thing, especially because they specifically had Cuddy mention it. Personally season 5's ending was superior to 4's, with House actually confronting his issues I felt like the show was actually going to try to adjust from the status quo. Episode 20 of this season hinted at House relapsing, with him hitting the booze hard(er) and walking out on the therapy, and actually as an episode I much preferred that, mostly because I'm always a fan of the quirky narrative episodes of any episode. This season seemed to have a lot less fillers than the previous, but season 3 (I think), with its hunting for new supporting cast, still wins overall for season-long storyline.

It's still a brilliant laugh to watch and personally, it makes me smile. That's enough for me.
Coolness Bears Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Haha, if my face was more squished and a slightly different brown.

The thing is though, and I'm not saying Glee doesn't have its cons but there are shows like this that shouldn't be taken seriously even if it does. Look at Ugly Betty, that has loads of baby drama and relationships and stuff but it's as cheesy as a triple cheeseburger with cheese sauce on the side. Point is, you know what you're in for even if there is storylines that are serious and I think some of the messages in Glee are good ones. ....but yeah, the show would be better without Kurt or Will, they're both seriously annoying and I don't like what they did to Journey's Don't Stop Believing much either... Desperate Housewives- Last Night's The one where Gaby stays over with the gay couple of the street because Celia has chickenpox and Bree hires a stranger. I enjoyed it very much. It seems that with every season, Desperate Housewives gets better and better. 9/10
Ashley Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 They're all pretty insufferable except for Quinn :p Cougar Town - Finding Out a.k.a. season finale Its surprising how much this show has changed over the course of one year. It finally has that "friends just being friends" kind of feeling that Scrubs had, rather than focusing on Jules. Plus everyone loves a good having-fun-on-the-beach montage.
