Portlett Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 For some reason I never bought MKDD for the CUBE but i recently purchased it, and one drunk night a made a bet with someone that id beat them for £20 and the loser has to walk down the street in a thong. I should win but was wondering if any of you have any tips, eg best characters, karts etc.
Ten10 Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I normally have peach and some attack based special character in birdo's kart. Good speed mixed with better weight.
Tellyn Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I'm on work experience now (making small games on Game Maker) and we're playing on the Wii/GC/DS on breaks, and I played Double Dash today with three other friends. It was very fun, I must say I prefer the DS version though (which has been the DS game of choice).
darksnowman Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Tip: try not to get so much drunk lol... I'd second that... and: I think my pairing of choice was Diddy Kong and Baby Bowser (DKC II and Yoshi's Island was an unbelievable time to own a Snes!) and plonking them in the train. Choo-choo! :awesome:
Goron_3 Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 You want 2 light characters ideally so you can power slide more. I go for Paratrooper and baby Luigi.
mcj metroid Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 parakoopa plus donkeykong. Giant banana is excellent at times. The game is poor......... not poor just HIGHLY over-rated. F-zero gx is the far far better racing game but I keep seeing mario kart score higher. very annoying.
welsh_gamer Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Hmmm I think I tend to use a Koopa and Diddy Kong in a kart. Not my favourite Mario Kart, but it was good of Nintendo to try and do something different with the franchise. Has anyone noticed on 'Peach Beach' that the pink "tunnel" looks kinda rude fromn a certain angle??

mcj metroid Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 the ds and n64 versions are better. I can't believe how bad the track design is in mario kart dd compared to n64.
mr_bogus Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Double Dash for me got better the more i played it, i didn't like it at first but by the time i'd unlocked everything it felt crippling to go back to 1 character per kart. Best combo is 1 weapons character and 1 speed character (eg i use Birdo and Toadette), then you can always save 1 item for when you need it by switching characters. Battle tracks on DD is really weak tho.
Slaggis Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 both the babies in the baby kart thing. Great combo.
Hellfire Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 not poor just HIGHLY over-rated. F-zero gx is the far far better racing game but I keep seeing mario kart score higher. very annoying. over rated? DD You've gotta be drunk! Everyone says it sucks! It's highly underrated. Learning to powerslide well is very important and having good aim with green shells is great both for defense and offense.
immy Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 not poor just HIGHLY over-rated. F-zero gx is the far far better racing game but I keep seeing mario kart score higher. very annoying. f-zero gx, now thats a proper game! take note nintendo sega just beat you at your own game.
Chris the great Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 well, i like toad driving with parakoopa in the back, two of the best powerups. i use the bullet bill kart, but toads kart is ok. as for f-zero vs DD, DD wins for me for the simple fact its easier to get into, and there for the multiplayer is more fun as a novice can still compete (though admitedly we used to leave the girls in the house miles behind) to get any fun out of f zero multiplayer you need two evenly matched people. that, and i didn't like f zero.
Zechs Merquise Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 over rated? DDYou've gotta be drunk! Everyone says it sucks! It's highly underrated. Learning to powerslide well is very important and having good aim with green shells is great both for defense and offense. Totally, it's a wonderful game, great vibrant graphics, a superb roster of drivers, 16 excellent courses. A total joy to play.
DanielTimothy Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Bad track design!? Wario Coliseum, DK Jungle and Bowsers Castle are all amazing.
nekunando Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 My combination was Yoshi and Paratrooper in Luigi's car. mcj_metroid commented on the bad track design and I have to agree to some extent. I don't think it is totally rubbish, it's ok, but when I'm playing VS or anything like that I think: what track is really good? Nothing really springs to mind though I am a fan of Baby Park. I much preferred the N64 and SNES tracks Still a very enjoyable game though, no question.
Kurtle Squad Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 You want 2 light characters ideally so you can power slide more. I go for Paratrooper and baby Luigi. Yep...Smaller character are much better (to me at least) parakoopa plus donkeykong. Giant banana is excellent at times. Koopa & Diddy Kong: 2 Small characters Tripple Shells Big Banana I also use the Toad car because it seems to hug the road well.
dannbrownn Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 When me and my dad were playing through Double dash together he found a small wooden mushroom and placed it on top of the gamecube as we played, it seemed to work! Also may i present to the world, Real Life MarioKart Double Dash: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XwMXU_bBbg0
fatnickc Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I always went for Toad + Toadette in Toad's blue car. Mix that up and you get a big bucket of win.
