  1. Yeah, I saw their video on the store before, looked like a great place to go. It's very sad to see. There really isn't much left in terms of indie B&M stores; B&M as a whole is dying (and not just in gaming either). There's just no way to really compete, especially with games (hell even online physical is finding it difficult to compete with digital storefronts!)
  2. I'm not expecting much from MS or Sony this year, outside of Death Standing and Bloodborne 2 for the latter (no doubt we'll finally get our first look at gameplay for both games, even if they're not launching this year). Nintendo however are in a position to blow everyone away. I expect big things from them... especially from Retro Studios! (it has to be time now!) No doubt Devolver Digital will be the ultimate winners though; they've got a hell of an encore to fulfill after last year's incredible stunt, but I have full faith in them to deliver! Ditto. E3 seems like the right time for a grand reveal of their paid online service, especially if it's due to launch in September. Also, you know... the inevitable Smash Bros Switch reveal...
  3. Dahym! Agents of Mayhem was an even bigger flop than I had dared imagine! No wonder you got it for so cheap @Hero-of-Time! Pretty nice to see THQ Nordic being so frank about why they feel these games failed. And it kind of puts into perspective the debt that Koch Media must have had to deal with. €87 million from just two underperforming games is not chump change! (never mind the rest of their struggles). Also, seeing Shenmue 3 on a THQ presentation slide is pretty surreal... Wonder if THQ Nordic might push for a Switch version of Shenmue 3... (though I suppose that if Sony did have a funding deal in place, as is rumoured, that might prevent it from happening regardless...)
  4. True... but how about Saints Row 2? That wouldn't require nearly as much work and is pretty beloved amongst its fanbase... Or perhaps a recreation of SR1 in SR4's engine?
  5. Great news! De Blob 1 & 2 fit the Switch like a glove (and the original control scheme can be perfectly replicated by the Joy-Cons too!) THQ Nordic have done some great work in the last few years, so the port is in good hands too! Speaking of which... https://www.resetera.com/threads/thq-nordic-acquires-koch-media-gmbh.23205/ ... just in case you guys haven’t heard, THQ Nordic just acquired Deep Silver today! Great news for Nintendo fans because, unlike Deep Silver/Koch Media, THQ Nordic are pretty big Nintendo supporters! Boding well for more Switch support in the future!
  6. I’d expect a remaster of the original for all systems. THQ Nordic’s modus operandi has basically been to make remasters of games to fund new releases and that has been working out very well for them. Pretty crazy to think that they’ll be publishing Shenmue 3 now! Who could have imagined a THQ funded Shenmue 3 just a few years back!?
  7. https://www.resetera.com/threads/thq-nordic-acquires-koch-media-gmbh.23205/ Oh wow! THQ Nordic just fully acquired Koch Media/Deep Silver!! That came out of nowhere!! I always thought that Koch Media was the bigger of the two! Absolutely shocking!! This basically means that THQ are back together again in whole. It also means that THQ Nordic now own Dead Island and Saints Row (again!) and that THQ Nordic will be publishing SEGA/Atlus games in Europe from now on (just like in the GBA days!) I can’t believe they got them for so cheap too! (Only €121 million!). They publish for a huge number of developers in Europe and have some pretty valuable IPs too! Sure, Agents of Mayhem was a big flop and they haven’t had the greatest success in recent times with their bigger releases, but still! What’s also interesting is that THQ Nordic are big Nintendo supporters (unlike Deep Silver), meaning that we may well see games like Saints Row finally hit Nintendo systems!
  8. Europe has good taste, confirmed! First pineapples get ousted from pizza, now this? Europe knows what's up!
  9. You are absolutely spot on. They were initially made up of most of the team from Iguana, who made Turok 1, 2 and Rage Wars. However, a large chunk of them (not all though), including the then CEO Jeff Spangenberg, were kicked out after being found to be committing misconduct, during the development of their initial set of prototypes. Quite a few notable people did stick around from Iguana after the exodus however, most notably Mark Pacini, so they did have experience with FPS games when making Metroid Prime. Retro's makeup has changed significantly from MP1 though, especially after Mark Pacini left and tried to take a bunch of staff with him; before being escorted out of the building and kicked out of Retro. Though that's not to say that Retro doesn't still have a large chunk of staff who did work on Prime 2 and 3. There are actually a fair few touches in the MP games that come pretty much directly from Turok 1 & 2, despite the exodus, like the ability to shoot the birds flying around in the sky in the Chozo Ruins and the ability to trick enemies into fighting each other; not to mention the focus on platforming and exploration. So there is still a bit of a shared lineage there that you can see in the final product!
  10. As I said in the other thread, I'm pretty confident that the rumour is true. Namco have been the rumoured developer for a good while now and everything is pointing towards them doing the deed. And as I also said in the other thread, I'm not particularly confident in their ability to do justice to the series. In cases where Namco act as co-developer on a Nintendo game (MK8, Smash 4 etc), they've done a great job, but when they're the main developer (Star Fox Assault, Mario Baseball)... not so much... Not to mention that Namco have almost no experience in making first person games, or metroid style games... The fact that Nintendo have been playing coy about who's making the game is another big sign that they knew people wouldn't be happy about the news...
  11. Very true. January was an excellent choice of release month. Capcom really like the January release slot and have used it a lot in the past; oftentimes it doesn't work out well for them, but this time it was perfect. Sony's massive marketing muscle no doubt helped tons too. Can't really deny that the game has well outperformed even my wildest expectations, both in the west and in Japan. Even though I'm really sad that there's no realistic way to play local multiplayer (which is basically half the reason I play Monster Hunter) and I'm not overly happy with some of the changes they've made (like making it possible to use potions while moving), I tip my hat to their success nonetheless. I'll no doubt pick it up when it comes out on PC and try to jury-rig some sort of dodgy local multiplayer setup.
  12. I do want a Super NT, but it’s still well out of my price bracket for a SNES...
  13. It's especially of value here because it includes both the US and Japanese versions here on Switch. The Japanese version of MD3 has HUGE differences from the US version (The Magical Drop general Wiki details some of these differences), most notably, the adventure mode is almost entierly different and there is an additional difficulty option that was completely removed in the west! I have the JPN and US VC versions and will gladly buy it again here on Switch! It's an absolutely top shelf puzzler and will be one of the absolute best local multiplayer experiences you'll be able to get for the Switch! It's a riot! Anyone who digs Puyo Puyo Tetris in local multiplayer owes it to themselves to nab MD3 as soon as it's available! Even if you already own the English version elsewhere!
  14. Whoops! Fixed that up! Yeah, 200cc threw me off too. Been too long since I last played it (and the extra speed from mushroom hell didn't help )
  15. I got 'em all @BowserBasher! GP1: GP2: GP3: Didn't do TOO terribly tonight, so I'm pretty happy! Fun stuff as usual!
  16. Oh yeah, it absolutely was! I first played it on PS2 around 2007-2008 and was absolutely blown away! You're at the same point I am now on the PS4 version BTW! And yes, that colossi is just breathtaking! (Would you believe that they get even more amazing? You had better do, because they do!)
  17. http://www.japanesenintendo.com/post/170650620229 Magical Drop 3, Fatal Fury 3 and Sengoku Denshou 2 are the next incoming NeoGeo games! Everyone! Buy the ever-living CRAP out of Magical Drop 3!!! That is an order!
  18. Yeah, this too. I should have something stupid like 10,000+ gold coins at this point if it were retroactively applied; but that blatantly won't happen. All I'll get is an expiration of the points I already have and sweet FA for my past loyalty
  19. FINALLY! I'll finally have a use for my hoard! Only took them over a year! So it's basically the Digital Deluxe Programme from the Wii U making a return, only you earn 5% cashback instead of 10% (and you also earn points from physical purchases too). Not amazing, but at least it's something! I'd prefer the 10% obviously, but it's good to see that it works with physical games too (and that you get the full eShop value from both physical games and from download codes too - despite any discounts you might otherwise get). I got a lot of value out of the DDP back in the day, so I'm glad to see it essentially make a return, even if it isn't quite as good as it used to be.
  20. Could be, but they already remastered the audio for the PS3 release and aside from the intro and ending music (which were re-recorded with some additional instrumentation for this PS4 remake), as well as Dormin's voice (which has changed quite dramatically), the rest of the audio has just been re-used from the PS3 re-release. So it still strikes me as a strange change.
  21. Namco have been the rumoured developer of MP4 for some time, so this leak is probably true. Cant exactly say I’m enthused by the idea. Namco have done some great work as a co-developer on Nintendo’s games (like in Mario Kart 8), but when they take the reigns as the primary developer (like in Star Fox Assault), not so much; and Namco appear to be the primary developer here... Not to mention that Namco have no real expertise in this kind of game (unlike with Pokken, where it was made by the Tekken team and was obviously a fighting game, the team’s speciality); leaving me with little reason to assume that it’s gonna turn out well... Not exactly feeling confident in the game at this point. It’s no surprise that Nintendo didn’t want to say who was making the game...
  22. Up to the 3rd colossi. What an amazing remake! While the look is still a bit “off”, lacking the hazy and ethereal look of Team Ueda’s games (and none of the filters quite match the original look), it is otherwise a brilliantly faithful remake that includes some subtle, but noticeable control tweaks that make the gameplay that much more responsive, while maintaining the weighty and realistic feel that defined the original experience! Only thing I have to question though is why they felt the need to redub Dormin. Not quite sure why they changed the voice there (not that the new one is bad or anything, it just strikes me as an odd change when they’ve just reused the rest of the dialogue as it was in the original ). Also the map opening animation isn’t as cool as the original sadly. Otherwise it’s great stuff! They haven’t really messed with the original experience!
