  1. Oh don't get me started on those jewel cases... Ditching them was the best thing about the 6th gen!
  2. Yes there is. It's in the Game Settings menu of the Settings tab on the PS3's XMB. Choose the Normal size for the PS - Upscaler option. Edit: Oh, never mind, you found it anyway. Good job!
  3. You're right. PS1 games can only save on a PS1 memory card, not a PS2 one. PS3 lets you make as many virtual PS1 memory cards as you want on its HDD though!
  4. https://www.resetera.com/threads/semiacccurate-gets-some-playstation-5-next-details-100-subscription-to-read-summary-in-op.33810/ Coming from everyone's favourite early hardware leak source, Semiaccurate, it looks like we might have our first rumblings of PS5! A summary below is you... Begin, the pre-E3 hype and discussion is now!
  5. It is kind of the obvious choice. A move to Zen is what literally everyone is expecting and is easily the biggest upgrade that a hypothetical PS5 could have over the PS4 Pro/XboneX. What is interesting though is the timeframe... While I don't think that it's gonna come out this year, that's just ridiculous, having dev kits starting to be released already does suggest that a release could happen next year! It also means that we might start seeing Watch Dogs style early "next gen" reveals and hardware detail leaks pretty soon! Also the idea of Sony doubling down on VR is interesting. Could be a big success, or a Kinect 2 level failure...
  6. Saturn is the place to go if you're looking for the 32 bit arcade experience; but if you're looking for adventure games or RPGs? Then it's a bit lacking (outside of a select few, and often extremely rare and expensive, releases). It does do the arcade experience really well though! So if you're itching for those quick fire, all-killer-no-filler experiences, I heartily recommend it! There's plenty of great arcade style games that aren't 2D fighting games, like NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, the Panzer Dragoon trilogy, Dynamite Deka/Die Hard Arcade, Virtual On, Sega Rally Championship, Virtua Cop, House of the Dead 1 and loads of compilations of arcade titles, like the Salamander collection. That being said, some of its high profile games (and ports of Model 2 arcade games) are actually now available in superior form elsewhere. The arcade versions of Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Striker, Virtual On and Daytona USA are all available on the PS3's PSN, while Radiant Silvergun and Guardian Heroes are available (in superior form and at a mere fraction of the price of the Saturn version) on the 360. Avoid the NiGHTS HD port though, the controls are totally borked on all platforms and the game just doesn't look right; also, the various ports of the original Panzer Dragoon are all inferior to the original Saturn version; stick with the original Saturn versions of these. I would also suggest getting the PS1 versions of Silhouette Mirage and Thunder Force 5 from the Japanese PSN, purely because they're so much cheaper than the Saturn versions. While the Saturn versions are actually better, with better quality visuals, I can't justify the massive price increase to get them on the Saturn, when they're available for a mere 600 yen on the JPN PSN.
  7. https://www.resetera.com/threads/semiacccurate-gets-some-playstation-5-next-details-100-subscription-to-read-summary-in-op.33810/ Looks like I finally have something to add to my Sony Bingo Card this E3!
  8. The Tournament Update is out now; and it includes the graphical upgrade too! Took some shots of both performance and quality modes in docked and undocked... Tried to get them as close as possible and to try and show some of the more obvious visual enhancements you get in Quality mode, in a couple of different stadiums... All shots were taken in online play 3v3, with no CPUs... Docked Performance Quality Performance Quality Performance Quality Performance Quality Undocked Performance Quality Performance Quality One more bonus shot in Performance mode undocked, showcasing a kind of worst-case-scenario... Even performance mode is a huge improvement over the previous version's visuals! Looks great, even on a big 4K display! (I can actually read the text properly now! ) Great job Psyonix/Panic Button!
  9. From the people that brought you Runbow! https://www.resetera.com/threads/double-cross-announcement-trailer-switch-pc.33677/ Surprised to see that it doesn’t seem to have a multiplayer focus, given their debut game, but the concept sounds pretty neat!
  10. Oh wow! http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/04/random_nintendos_snes-era_troubleshooting_phone_line_still_works_troubleshooting_still_given Nintendo's old US hotline for NES/SNES troubleshooting and repair services is still active! That's awesome!
  11. I can't view them as separate games, they simply weren't designed to be played that way originally. S&K is the second half of Sonic 3, that was cut from the cartridge due to space and time constraints. They're simply two parts of one game, the difficulty curve alone tells you that. S&K is awful on its own because it simply isn't designed to be a standalone game, the difficulty starts out far higher and assumes that you've completed the previous levels from Sonic 3 beforehand. When combined though? It's the greatest Sonic game ever made and one of the absolute finest platformers of its era.
  12. Legit surprised that they didn’t change his name! So... Vodka Drunkinski has a chance in Super Punchout!!
  13. Woo! Punchout!!
  14. That's a real shame. Sad to see a mainstay of the B&M VG retail sector fall apart. Pretty much is literally just GAME left now (and they've already died once!) It's only a matter of time it seems...
  15. Sad to see that the 3DS version isn’t coming, but it was expected. Nintendo aren’t going to fund a localisation that isn’t exclusive to their platform and S-E aren’t going to pay to localise a 3DS game of their own accord; especially this late in the console’s life. Why even bother with a Switch port if it’s gonna come this late though!? Might as well not bother...
  16. That's bloody brilliant! Now it'll never happen because I want it...
  17. I do think that Turok 1 & 2 are a possibility for an N64 mini; given that Nightdive Studios has the full rights locked down... but they might also just be content with having a Switch port of the remasters. I don’t think the age rating would be a barrier per-say. If Nintendo could secure the rights, you can bet your arse that they’d put Goldeneye and PD on a hypothetical N64 mini without a second thought. If they were the only PEGI 16 games that they could secure though? It might be an issue? But then again, Sin & Punishment would already bring it up to a PEGI 12 rating, so it’s not far off the PEGI 16 rating anyway; and the target audience are primarily old school lapsed gamers anyway...
  18. DLC for all Wii games (and 3DS for that matter) is only available to buy from within the game itself. It won't appear on the shop.
  19. Yeah, Standard is so much better than Sidestep, I'd swap over ASAP. LM is very impressive for how seamless the loading is; very few GCN games quite managed the same feat of making it feel as seamless (even the likes of SSBM, or Metroid Prime; though their loadtimes are very short, they are still noticeable - not so in LM!)
  20. Strange... Maybe it's something to do with the US version having a different name and they're re-using the header from the US version? I bet it's something silly like that...
  21. See, the reason why I can't see a Game Boy Mini happening is because... well... It already exists!
  22. @V. Amoleo For the love of God, get Chrono Trigger while you still can! The Wii VC version is the best version you can currently buy (being the SNES version with the added Wii VC features/image quality). Every other non DS version is awful and the DS version leaves a lot to be desired (the audio quality isn’t as good and the new localisation is... controversial at best... I much prefer the original text - the added dungeons and multiplayer are also awful and actually act as a black stain on the game as a whole). The DS version is also very expensive now. Also, only Super Star Wars is available on PS4, the two sequels are still SNES/VC exclusive.
  23. The languages would be worked on by outside localisation studios anyway, so I doubt it would have much impact on the progress of the Switch version. Support for more languages is something to be commended in all cases; especially in the realm of indie games, where games don't usually get released in languages other than English.
  24. Oh wow! That's actually a pretty big deal! Could actually do some decent numbers in the UK; especially given that it is a defacto exclusive as far as consoles go!
  25. Another bloody awful night for me, with some more funny highlights at my expense coming your way
