  1. Typical, just had mine cancelled too. The one time I get in on a sweet pricing error and they go and cancel it. Ahh well, I still got something for nothing though, so I suppose I can't complain
  2. Such a shame to see Farsight lose the Williams and Bally licenses. TPA has been completely gutted now and most of its best tables have now been lost to the ether
  3. I doubt that's the reason. Dreams should be ready for primetime by this point, then they've got Medievil and Days Gone to show as well. And that's just what we already know about in terms of major retail releases coming on the horizon. Death Stranding also isn't coming out this year (and there's a good chance it'll actually end up being their big headlining game for the PS5 launch, given that the new KojiPro studio was only recently established and we've seen nothing of the actual game, save for some CG FMV trailers). So they're clearly not shy about focusing on exclusive games that are still years away here.
  4. Yeah, from their coy attitude on social media and their rather vague sounding official blog post, it definitely sounds like it's not gonna be the usual affair; even if it's still a live event in front of an audience. Sounds more in-line with PSX. Seems like the current tide is turning against the old way of doing things at E3. Amazingly, Nintendo aren't the ones playing catch-up for a change! Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there actually. Has been that way for the last couple of years as they've moved away from live demos, demonstrations and stage presence and have moved more towards quickfire trailer reels one after another. Even MS have been moving in that direction somewhat (though that was more in response to the mass complaints about an overly strong focus on TV TV TV SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS in the early days of the Xbone).
  5. Oh wow! Sony are NOT hosting a traditional E3 conference this year! https://www.resetera.com/threads/first-playstation-2018-e3-showcase-details-ds-got-sm-tlou2-no-traditional-press-conference.41832/ They're going to be doing the Nintendo thing and are hosting a Nintendo Direct/E3 Showcase style video instead! I'm legit shocked! I never thought they'd ever give up the pomp and circumstance that defines their E3 events! This is crazy for them! Edit: Actually, it might be some miscommunication/misinterpretation going by the thread... It's probably the case, since I can't ever imagine Sony giving up on the bombastic live events they're known for...
  6. For me, the cloud saves, online classic games and the family sharing plan make it worth it. If we would have to pay for subscriptions for each individual Switch we have amongst us, there’s no way I could justify it, but the family plan working across multiple devices makes a big difference and the price is low enough. I just don’t play online all that much, but I’ll get enough value out of the service as a whole thanks to the low overall price we need to pay for everyone.
  7. Same! Was enourmously impressed with the presentation! In both handheld and docked. Is it 60FPS on PS4 by any chance? Wouldn’t surprise me if they had to cut the frame rate in half to make it work (not that it makes a big difference in a tower defence game anyway). It seems like a nice game, even if tower defence games aren’t really my thing (The Dillon’s Rolling Western games being the big exception for me). Glad to see Q Games putting their best foot forward here as I really like most of their stuff!
  8. Well I’ll be. Damn; was thinking he’d make a great addition to Brawlout... Nicalis are pumping out a crazy amount of releases! They always seem to bite off more than they can chew though, so I reckon that none of these will come out for some time... Also, how in the blue hell did they get the rights to Astro Boy and Blackjack!? That’s nuts! With them currently working with Treasure, and seemingly holding the rights to Astro Boy (no, seriously, HOW!?) I wonder if there’s actually a chance that they might be able to revive this little GBA gem... Please!
  9. I was just thinking... I wonder if there’s a chance that this might be a budget price release, rather than a full Switch RRP one... I reckon that it would make a huge difference to its chances of success and both the game and Capcom’s overall reputation amongst Switch owners if it was $39.99/$39.99/£29.99 over here in the west. That would actually give it a solid chance of success and also make it not feel like an insulting gesture to Switch owners for getting this instead of World. To acknowledge that it’s a 3DS level game being released on Switch and give it appropriate 3DS level pricing would make a big difference I reckon. It would also make it a much more enticing prospect for people who already own the original MHG on 3DS (who they’re clearly aiming this re-re-re-rerelease at with the save transfer feature!) Would also be good way to help open up the Switch market for lower end, previously handheld exclusive experiences too; just like what Nintendo are doing with Sushi Striker.
  10. It does have additional areas as well doesn’t it? As well as 3? new hunting styles. Plus of course there’s G Rank.
  11. Well I do have some grievances with the changes they’ve made, like the removal of the potion pause and the open world-ish level design (which needs the fire fly mechanic to find monsters as a result), but the lack of local multi is the biggest one I have. I do know that the series started out as online only and Tri was my first MH game (followed by MHF2 on PSP) but local multi is a big deal for me. I still want to give MHW a try, but I would want it to at least be somewhat feasible to do local multi, so I’m waiting for the PC version (having to need 3-4 PS4s, games, PS+ subscriptions and 4 TVs is just not a viable option - at least with the PC one I could use laptops or a small monitor and don’t need an online subscription); though online is fun, it’s just not as fun as local (or a local/online mix). So I’m pretty happy to at least see some form of local MH continue in the west.
  12. The lack of a proper local multiplayer experience really. Online is fun and all, but nothing beats the local multiplayer MH experience. I’m actually waiting for the PC version of MHW because I plan to try jury rigging up some sort of LAN play with it; I can’t justify buying another couple of PS4s, 3 copies of the game and 3 sets of PSN Plus, it’s absurd.
  13. Echoing the sentiment in that it’s about bloody time! My Switch has been crying for Monster Hunter! i just hope they fix the fugly HUD from the JPN Switch version, it was an absolute eyesore! Even if we don’t get a new MH game on Switch, I’m glad we’re at least getting this. I miss proper Monster Hunter with proper local multiplayer!
  14. And we have our answer! Well that was unexpected! Will sell illegal amounts for sure!
  15. Looks nice enough but it can’t support a vertical orientation, so the Hori stand is still better.
  16. Issac’s moveset looks way more inspired than Quote’s!
  17. The original version of COP always used pre-rendered sprites. The PC and Switch remaster just uses higher res versions of the same sprites.
  18. 3DS was hacked this way too. Cubic Ninja was the first, followed by individual save file hacks for games like OoT3D and others. Wii U was hacked via the web browser. It's not hard to see why they removed access to save file transferring and the console web browser in Switch... Switch has ended up getting hacked thanks to a big, widespread CPU flaw inherent in many CPU designs, including the Tegra X1 in the Switch (And all the documentation for the X1 is also freely available online and has been for years). The Switch's own security hasn't actually been compromised, but thanks to this security flaw inherent to the X1, hackers have been able to bypass Nintendo's security altogether. Which is why Nintendo/Tegra is working on a revision to the Switch's X1 chip right now.
  19. WTF!? Why is he using his fists? Why not have him use his various weaponry!? @Glen-iWe still have this chibi 3D model... That's gotta be for Brawlout surely!?
  20. Oh no, I completely agree that it's ridiculous. I mean, I get that they're doing it to try and prevent piracy, but it's a bad situation for the consumer for sure.
  21. That's industry standard. Cloud storage isn't free, there's a not-insignificant running cost associated with it. Almost nobody gives away storage for nothing (outside of Google and Microsoft, who obviously fund it through other services/advertising for an ulterior motive). I wouldn't expect to have been given it for nothing.
  22. As for my own thoughts regarding the announcements? Family sharing is great, cloud saves is great, needing the phone for voice chat is bad, initial NES game selection is good, no SNES games is bad, no mention of further VC support is fucking bullshit. Overall Score: 0/10
  23. I’ll probably be getting the family membership, so you’ll be able to piggyback off of that. As for Pokemon Bank? I expect it to be integrated into the Switch Online App as part of the subscription. You’re already getting cloud storage as part of the subscription, so it would make no sense to have to pay for a separate cloud save subscription (which would be storing very small amounts of data in comparison to Nintendo’s Switch one). The issue of cloning is easily solved by making it so that you move Pokemon to Bank instead of copying them; so that when you transfer them, they’re deleted from your local save file. Alternatively, they could use the current system, but make it so that the game constantly updates the cloud when you perform a local trade or save your game with matching data, preventing you from save scumming and cheating.
  24. Oh now this is cool! https://www.resetera.com/threads/nintendo-switch-pro-controller-gets-official-steam-input-support.39945/ Steam (well, the beta client anyway) now officially supports the Switch Pro Controller! Complete with gyro support and proper Nintendo style face button mapping!
  25. Interesting that Nicalis is handling this release, I hope this is the start of a long-term partnership as I really want to see Treasure come back! I miss them something fierce! Anyway, my vertical Hori stand is ready! @Ike Thankfully they've confirmed that Europe is getting it on the same day as the US! (Cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria something something!)
