Man, Amazon is so misleading. You're all, "wow, that's a great price!" and then when you go to checkout, they add 25% VAT and you end not saving a penny and having to wait ages for whatever you ordered to be delivered. I only asked because the price reduction to £170 over here doesn't seem so tempting anymore when you can buy a 3DS for £115 in the UK.

I like the designs of the new characters, but now Pin looks pretty dull in comparison. The website's hosting sucks, by the way (or is it just me?). It took a full five minutes to load your latest link.

Awful game. Words can't even begin to describe how much I hated 358/2 Days. I think I even preferred Chain of Memories. At least that game was somewhat short. Though that could have been because I refused to replay the entire game as Riku after I finished it once. Out of curiosity, how much more expensive is the 3DS in Denmark compared to in the UK?

Probably because they're so good. Right? Shantae was at least GBA enhanced, and would give you a pretty useful extra form to morph into if you played it on a GBA.

You know how sometimes you open several threads in different tabs and just read them without really paying attention to which thread is which, but it's okay, because you can figure out which thread you're in just by reading the posts? Yeah, so, 'good stuff thread' was not the thread that came to mind when I read Raining's and Ashley's posts about what they have bought/plan to buy. And... congratulations, I guess? I'm not sure if that's the appropriate reaction to news like that. Maybe a high five would be better.

And now you know that the answer to this...

I never owned a GameBoy Advance. Or, indeed, any handheld system before the DS. But I have, of course, played most of the games on the system that you need to have played anyway. Both are excellent games, but they're GameBoy Color games, so it's not really fair to count them.

I think Nintendo should start developing games for the PlayStation 3.

Looks like the bubble is bursting. Not really surprising, considering past articles about Mad Men and Breaking Bad. This is why we can't have nice things. Here's the full article, since the post on SpoilerTV just links back to their website.

Ugh... In that case, I will pray to every deity I know of that Goafer drives safely and that you both make it to your destination safely. Your plan worked.

I played TimeSplitters 2 for the first time the year before last, in co-op with my brother. It was miles better than the first game, but it still wasn't all that good, to be honest. Maybe it was one of those "had to be there" kind of games. I can't speak for the multiplayer, though, so maybe that's what made the game so great and the only good thing about the single-player is that one level in the video.

You're just trying to offload your junk on me! :p

So You Think You Want to Make Games for a Living?

They obviously got married before they went into game development. -
Well, this was just embarrassing.

I loved Kotaku's article about the quote. Owen Good seemed extremely offended about the whole thing, complaining about how the Metacritic guy only wanted more free content for his website. ... Apparently he didn't see the irony in how Kotaku gets most of its content from other places. -
IGN listed the original Super Mario Bros. as the best game of all time, so I'm not sure what they're complaining about.

Happy birthday to the member we all love more than Mikey. That's because they're essentially the same language. Oh, yes I did.

Well, he did say "in terms of BioWare games". They undoubtedly peaked with Baldur's Gate 2.

Should have said "evvvvvver", Dyson. Wasted opportunity. I agree that it's really good, though. That and Machinarium. And Braid, of course. I haven't played any of the others.

So You Think You Want to Make Games for a Living?
Magnus replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
So, um... does everyone get a bonus when a game does well? Like, even the code monkeys? And at some point he's all, "this game made [this much profit], so that's $800,000 for everyone who worked on the game", which makes me think he's slightly insane. So, what - a game does well and the publisher just gets back their initial investment and gives away the rest of the money? That's... not how I thought these things worked. Also, it's all well and good if a game does well. Yeah, sure L.A. Noire sold well and made a lot of money, but what about if there are developers who are in crunch time for a year and the game flops? -
Now go back even further and play Baldur's Gate 2 to see where the gameplay in Knights of the Old Republic got started. I was going to suggest the first Baldur's Gate, but it's not as good and the parallels are more obvious in the sequel.

A moderator with time on their hands should start deleting anything within parentheses in ReZ's posts.

FOX owns the X-Men movie rights, so any sequel wouldn't appear on that list. So yeah, there's probably still a chance.

Probably. Other RPGs that are generally considered to be some of the best of all time: Final Fantasy VI and VII, Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment. I'm sure the list goes on. It's not like Chrono Trigger is all that short, anyway. A first playthrough would probably take 25-30 hours. Not as long as some other RPGs, but still pretty long overall. But no, I don't think there's any reason to needlessly make RPGs long just for the sake of it. Whenever I play longer games, my interest begins to wane once I pass the thirty-hour mark. After that, it's pretty much just the story that keeps me going, as well as my need to finish every game I play. That said, I don't think the people who crave more JRPGs would really be content if developers started making ten-hour RPGs. A certain amount of content is pretty much expected in the genre. It's a bit like Tales of Monkey Island, which was released episodically. Yeah, it was good and all, but it didn't compare to the larger scope of the previous games.
