I'm just glad I finally know how to pronounce Qinc.
-
My favorite part was "many of the greatest games." What does that even mean?
-
Not wanting people to confuse the game with a 3D remake of Super Mario Land is a pretty bad excuse for the odd name, though. JUST NAME IT SOMETHING ELSE. :p Unless it really is set in a place called 3D Land.
-
You just described every boss in the game.
-
That's because you're too young to remember the blissful days before internet memes. Don't worry, though - you'll hate the Zenon-like slang of the next generation of kids.
-
Sorry to hear that, Nightwolf.

I finally finished this after just over forty hours, but a lot of that was spent on making sure I did all of the sidequests. I went back to do the ones I'd missed yesterday, and wow, there were a lot of them. Some of them are extremely particular about when you need to talk to an NPC to activate the sidequest. And then if you've missed a sidequest, sometimes you have to replay a number of scenes to get to it. Great game overall, though.

"Comedy Rainbow" always makes me cringe.

Well, technically they're right. Nintendo is lowering the price and this decision did indeed come at a later point in time than the claims about the 3D making people feel nauseous. You really should stop reading The Sun, though.

To be fair, ER was pretty amazing (and critically acclaimed) at one point, but the last few seasons are hardly the strongest ones. The show was at its best for the first five or so seasons and and took a huge hit after season eight, when Carter was the only original character left.
-
I became obsessed with ER a few years ago, when they used to air it five times a week right around the time I ate dinner. I watched it obsessively for close to a year until I was all caught up. It's too bad the show went on as long as it did, though.

Haha, I always thought that women holding grudges against men for things they've done to them in their dreams was a myth.
-
Seeing as how you need to finish the standard version of the game to unlock the Master Quest, they'd be pretty pointless, anyway.

My nose was a bit stuffed so I dreamed that I couldn't breathe and was convinced I was going to die. Fun times. :p Man, that's just like Daft.

Stay away from the florist at all cost. If you send your units into it, they'll come out wearing flowers on their heads and it makes it nearly impossible to tell them apart. Basically, you've just wasted your money.

Sounds a lot like Natural Selection based on your description.

RPG Pillars: 20 Games that Defined RPGs
Magnus replied to darksnowman's topic in General Gaming Discussion
This is somewhat ironic, since you also lament the lack of good console JRPGs this generation. Maybe RPGs in general are just having an off generation. Though I think you should expand your horizons and play RPGs on the PC and handhelds. Think of all the great games you've missed! -
Aw, man. Now you've made me want another Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's Island DS is one of those games where I completely disagree with most reviewers. Most of the art is reused from Yoshi's Island, so the game plays like an expansion pack with worse level design and an annoying baby-switching mechanic that makes collecting everything in levels a chore (eggs only bounce when you use Mario, and so on). It's also a lot harder to the point of feeling unfair a lot of the time (and the lack of items means you can't replenish your stars at the end of a difficult level). The developers don't seem to have played Yoshi's Island, and the few new sprites all lack the thick black outlines that were such a big part of the original game, and many of the sprites are outright terrible (this is Bowser, though you really need to see him in motion to appreciate how awful he looks). I wish they'd stuck with sprites for Fire Emblem. The pre-rendered 3D look of Shadow Dragon is not attractive at all. But yeah, the game would probably sell about the same on the 3DS as it would on the DS. Fire Emblem is very niche and it's not a series that's going to attract a lot of new fans. It'd be a cheap way to bolster the 3DS library with a 'core' title, but I'm not holding out hope for a release outside Japan. It's too bad downloadable DS titles for the 3DS isn't possible, because that would be a great way to bring over games that were never released over here.

The second game is admittedly alright, but it feels nothing like a Mario game and plays much closer to the Wario Land games, which I find slow and boring. The first game is terrible, though. I dare anyone who's not wearing nostalgia goggles to say otherwise. :p It does have some pretty good music, though. I think you just figured out the storyline!

If You Go Down to Ilex Forest Today You're Sure of a Big Surprise

Happy non-Pokémon release day. -
My condolences.

I'm assuming this means we're going to get downloadable GBA games on the 3DS? Because that would really be about time and would go a long way in swaying me towards finally buying a 3DS. I doubt Nintendo would go to the trouble of emulating GBA games on the 3DS if they weren't planning on selling them. Though this being Nintendo, I guess you never know. Nintendo has shown time and time again that they have very little interest in Yoshi as a brand, by making terrible spin-off after terrible spin-off. Yoshi's Island DS was handed off to a second-rate developer who did a terrible job and came nowhere close to the quality of the original Yoshi's Island. At this point, I'd rather Nintendo just left Yoshi alone. Speaking of Fire Emblem, they could just release the second DS game on the 3DS and finally let us lowly westerners play it. It's not like we can expect anything impressive graphically from the series on the 3DS anyway.

I strongly dislike the Land series (Mario and Wario), so I wish they hadn't brought the name back for this game. It's bad enough they've acknowledged that Super Mario Land exists by re-releasing it.
