  1. I've spent a lot of time recently editing high-school homework/coursework so I guess I'm being overly pedantic. If one is efforting to be accurate then correct ordering is but a step farther, but I can take my tutoring hat off for now.
  2. I've read that people thought the Bioshock 2 MP was akin to timesplitters? I have only one evening's experience with the online mode and, ultimately, it wasn't anything special. I'm glad they're not trying to shoe-horn MP into Infinite.
  3. Which pic, @Cortezston? WHICH PIC!?
  4. Iunno 'bout music covers, but this is my favourite ridiculouslybadcoverconsideringthemoneyinvolved cover for a computer game;
  5. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that this year's list is much more laudable than most years, where it's maybe one or two extremely excelling individuals. Historically, it should go to Bradley Wiggins as that's the most recognisable set of feats. The paralympians that make the list almost make the Paralympics sound a bit absurd - one has switched from getting gold (and dominating) in swimming to getting gold (and dominating) in cycling, while the other is winning distance running of 800m up to a marathon... Jeez these are super athletes. You couldn't imagine those scenarios occuring in the Olympics.
  6. Man, I'd forgotten how much I hated the Pegasus. I can't remember precisely what happens with this arc, but man I can't wait for it to be over -- not saying the show is crap, I just don't like sitting here seething with ire. Also I've figured out the common denominator for characters that piss me off (on occasion); This is the last known <50,000 of the frakking human race. Unity should be paramount. The Cylons are a real threat so any anti-military stuff from the fleet/politics is just nonsense.
  7. Tsk @Ashley. Everyone knows PES is ISS :P
  8. I, too, had managed to avoid the song successfully up 'til saturday. Though I had been played the Mitt Romney Style parody previously, it wasn't until I was essentially forced to listen to the top 20 charts on the radio that I finally heard the song! Was nonplussed!
  9. The math of the title is confusing. I'll edit a new one!
  10. As an aside, I have noticed Ville's gotten sour this year. He used to be so OK Positive, but now perhaps he's IDK Negative.
  11. @S\.C\.G how long did legendary take you? I spent an absolute age on the prologue - the bit where you're on teh external part of the ship and you need to manually launch the missile... I had no grenades so it was a real battle, but I found keeping my distance and picking as many enemies off as possible worked best. I gave the next mission the briefest of attempts but nothing solid. How did you find it? I can tell there'll be some really dickish moments but I think it's perfectly doable. The enemy shields don't re-generate as quick as I remember them doing in Halo 3, and I think the UNSC weapons are better powered -- but then I sucked at Halo 3. Need to do Spartan Ops next, but I also want to do my Heroic play-through co-op, however my cousin is in the middle of a round of coursework deadlines! Is Spartan Ops worth approaching solo (anyone know)?
  12. The title is an empath! We need more happy stories (eddie and will have started the ball rolling) for the title to change :P
  13. I have to concede that I did indeed assume you were being derogative (using 'basically'). Good form.
  14. The default theme for the forums makes it look like mario is about to step in a golden turd. (I have just woken up, after 12pm, with the words of a depressing dream haunting me, but it's one of thos giant-fir-me, trivial-for-everyone-else things so I'll just glance over it for something that is trivial for all)
  15. "the Wii U is basically a television-based DS I'd expect them to add a 3D screen with multi-touch capabilities." If you re-read my post you'll notice I make no mention at all of your link. I state rather specifically that I feel it is your choice of words that is at question, not that which you post. In regards to the article you posted; FPS has always been relatively popular, but not to the scale it has been in recent history. COD/Halo brought the FPS back to the consoles after the PC had shown us all how it was done. But that doesn't mean that FPS is the ultimate in gaming, that we should measure a console purely on how it can handle a FPS. Also, the pressure-based trigger buttons are far more evident/useful in racing games than FPS games. The article you linked to has decided that pressure-based (or, 'analogue') trigger buttons are vastly important for FPS games.... But did you really close-read the article to see why? Here's what the article said. "Dual analog triggers on the rear offer a meager, albeit meaningful, level of precision; pressure sensitivity helps to circumvent the lacking hyper-precision of a mouse/keyboard, offering one trigger to pull up a gun's sights, while the other is used to fire rounds." So... what is this 'meaningful' level of precision? If left-trigger brings up aiming, and right trigger fires the gun... why is the variant of how much pressure I am putton on that 'button' something that is supposed to cause a chasm between consoles? Pressure-sensitive buttons are great, but teh FPS really does not account for the best use of the mechanism, and as such the article you linked to is a really, really stupid read; something written as some lame attempt to snub the Wii U. Comparing the subtle aiming ability of the mouse to the pressure-sensitive trigger buttons is stupid, because in no instance is a console version of a game mapping mouse movement to the trigger buttons. Do you get what I'm saying here? The article isn't actually saying anything meaningful. FPS games do not rely on pressure-sensitive trigger buttons. The article at no point says that they do, it just mentions the buttons, mentions the Wii U's lack of pressure-sensitive triggers, and mentions FPS games alongside the mouse controls of a PC. It's an uneducated summary of the transitional period of FPS games from PC to console. My own post here could've been better written, for sure. But I suppose your inability to read things properly means that there's no point me taking the time to write it properly anyway! P.S. Oh yeah -- my original post was mostly trying to say that your comment was unfounded, unfair and ultimately going to only lead me to assume you have no real valued opinion on the matter. Jeez, it's so fucking hard to find a proper, unbiased opinion on the Wii U right now. Ridiculous.
  16. Aaand lock for your thread. Please read the forum rules, particularly rule #9. Just posting to bump your thread is not particularly highly regarded, either. Your "up for my thread" post displays an incredibly unprofessional character trait, so you should be careful how you portray yourself to others. I have edited your first post to remove any 'links' you have. You may notice that you were unable to post full links due to your newness - this is in effect precisely to prevent users like yourself to appear. We also have quite a savvy userbase who aren't going to respond to the impersonal and/or selfish approach.
  17. Now, that's just creepy.
  18. How does the game compare to Dishonored?
  19. DI Matteo has had a brilliant time at Chelsea, then! Won some silverware and, no doubt, received a nice severance to his contarct -- and will be welcome to many clubs as manager, I'm sure!
  20. Whelp, that's enough Lollipop Chainsaw for a while. Don't get me wrong, the game is an experience, but there are too many frustrating and nonsensical elements to the game - mostly only really relevant if you're trying to get achievements - for instance, a severe lack of checkpoints in the ratings mode; I got to the end of the 2nd level and got insta-killed during a QTE, and you basically have to restart the level -- i.e. 20+ minutes of 'play' gone. Typically it's a hallmark of a non-AAA game; that brokenly impossible achievement that was clearly not playtested and is down to luck which goes against the human player. Then there's the little things, such as not being able to reset the music to the default playlist if you concoct your own from the tunes unlocked (not sure if this resets with Ratings mode), and a camera that doesn't always do as you say, and an over-abundance of mini games. Achievement hunting aside, the game is extremely stylish and such a great experience in itself, with boatloads of anti-culture references, and includes Lex Luthor of Smallville fame as a voice actor. it also has MSI's lead man Jimmy Urine as both voice actor but also music composer, which is neat. But yeah - spent like 90 mins getting a stupid achievement yesterday, and just losing 20 mins of gaming due to a stupid QTE (I loathe them) means I'll put the game away for now. Fairly confident I could 100% this game but I started Mass Effect again (I'm supposed to be a renegade but I really want to be nice!) and Halo 4 (boy do I suck at Halo games), sooo yeah.
  21. Life is pretty good sometimes. Currently I'm staying up so that I can proof-read my cousin's big assignment thing. I've finished one game so I went to check on him; "How's it going?" "Oh, yeah, just got this and this to do. Hour - max." "Ok cool... so you know you said that two hours ago too, yeah?" "Yeah but this time I'm totally doing the work, and not facedditng at all!" "Ok! Well I'm going to go play your brand new copy of Halo 4, ok?" "Waiit whaa!" "Yeah, that's right. Halo 4 for me. I 'have' to stay up pastmidnightffs so I'm-a-gonna-suffer this awesome new game, k?" "Fuck." .. yeah that doesn't sound especially awesome, but it's great for me. Basically told I need to stay up to make sure my cousin finishes his coursework, which means i get to play games! The halo 4 waiting screen sounds like TNG!
  22. Sorry serebii, my "^" was aimed at @arab_freak and not you. bad post timing! I don't disagree with you at all. I quite like having my pad with buttons as an input medium. I do in fact agree with you! There are definitely game types that are at a disadvantage with this UI (though if we were to be truly flexible and omni-thinking, surely it's possible for entirely new genres to come about due to the wii U? However, perhaps not. Though I do agree that tapping in to the hardcore board game market is a brilliant potential future. I have a friend who has a massive bookshelf full of board games and loads of bags full of pieces, and it takes forever to set games up, so perhaps something like wii U could aid that... or perhaps a table tablet thingum... tangents aplenty now!)... yeah. Serves me right for playing games rather than replying quickly!
  23. ^I don't have any plans to get a Wii U, and I shed my nintendo fanboy layers years ago, but I think that;'s an ignorant thing to say. Makes you sound like you're pandering to the masses who are likely to snub the console rather than fairly appraise it for what it does. Why has it been so hard to get an unbiased, neutral review of the console?
  24. I think "Default Dan" is an excellent username @dan\-likes\-trees @Dannyboy\-the\-Dane @Dan Dare @Daniel (too many dans)
