My cousin was telling me about this. I think the guy no longer works for the company... because teh company has realised they can now save 4/5ths of the guys salary by cutting out the middle man altogether! ...

Fuck yeaah hall and oates! Thanks for reminding me I need to get listening to them again. The only problem is that whilst listening to them I can't walk in a straight line. I keep finding my feet are doing this kind of jaunty skip, and I'm not one for public shows of happiness.

Well done Magnus for pulling together a terrific awards ceremony. Considering your relative 'new' status, it's fantastic that you're able to not only integrate with the forum but also take charge and drive it forwards in such awesome ways And congratulations to all winnars all over the place!

Another belated birthday greeting for you. I was in Rainy/snowy bournemouth these last few days and I kept hoping I'd have one of those awkward happenstance meetings with you whenever I was in town! -

Hey! I'm not a bot! ... beep beep boop -
Luckily it is! Every day, even! Though, really, it's bad form to use that as an excuse to cake and booze non-stop. Attempting to toast each newborn in the world as it happens is a quick success route to puking everywhere.

Uneducated swines? Caesar* EDIT: To be fair and all, just about everyone I meet thinks I have read every book, know all authors and have memorised every line of Shakespeare. I literally can't remember the name of the last book I read. Which is kind of a play on words. As was that.

Just a note; the scroll bar on that page does not reflect the length of the actual article itself, which can be read in about 7 minutes. I'm all for GM foods. The argument about damage to local climate/ecosystems/that sort of sustainability runs deeper than just "it messes it up" (which that article states is not the case, and is better attributed to organic foods) unfairly overlooks a simple matter of a poor understanding of the farmers having less-than-perfect knowledge of what they are doing scientifically to the soil and other fauna/flora using the land prior to agriculturalisation (if that's even a word). For sure, GM would allow a smaller area for an equal yield if we compare production to 'organic' (or otherwise) crop production, but it doesn't reduce the fact that, especially in the developing world, farmers will still rape the soil to shit and make it unusable after 4 seasons (for another 9, or whatever). Of course this isn't my specialty area, it's anecdotal stuff from when I sat in on my ex's lectures and via her essays/etc, but that was always a factor that wasn't recognised (and perhaps isn't in a quantifiable way) when estimating sustainablity in the 3rd world, which I thought was worth mentioning!

I am interested - I have internet vaguely between sunday and thursday but I will have access.

I for one maintain my gloomy expectations of the gaming future. All this extra-peripheral stuff requires, for me, extra-sensory stuff that I don't have. That technology would be literally useless for my eyes. If I'm in the first half of the cinema I have to turn my head to see the other half of the screen. My dad has a projector TV and I can't see the whole thing with my vision. I'm not saying that the next gen of gaming will be incompatible with jay7.0, just sayin' that it's fairly clear at some point in the future games will be all snazzy and fancy and shit, but I can't play :'( Plus side; shitload of games on a shitload of consoles already in existence.

I've got a few gaming 'circles' and I'm the noobiest in all of them but they're all patient and excellent at explaining things, etc. I've heard plenty of horror stories about some elitist guys out there, typically can be the store owner who has almighty domain over everyone, but these days there are enough stores out there -- and pubs! -- that it need not be a problem.

Latest is April but it could be a month or two now, so if I'm going to take part in a 2013 meet it needs to happen pronto! :P

Went to a board games evening hosted at some shop in town, and met some cool guys and played some Descent. Was awk for ages at first, literally standing around as people spoke this foreign language of card- and board games, but once we were sat and playing it was much more chilled. Went to a pub afterwards with a couple and pubs are, basically, my territory, so I wooed them with my words. There's this girl I'm not-interested-in-bit-happy-to-talk-to, who I'm sorta getting mixed signals off. I'm not really ready for anything, nor able to commit to anything, due to leaving the country again in a few months, but also due to having low self-esteem/no 'career' to speak of... Yet it's so weird to get to know the aliens we call Female all over again. They're so mental. It's like those episodes of Crystal Maze where you're screaming at the TV because the solution is so fucking obvious... yet once you're trapped inside the box it's all alien and foreign and other words I've used already. Fuck, I hate me.

Playing it cheap, so it's all about pasta salads at the moment. Beefed up with a big bag of spinach, chopped shrooms and onions and peppers and chillis and basil and oregano and garlic and tomato paste and pepper and BAMMO. Stir it up a treat and mix in a cheese or two and it's healthy, cheap, huge pile of food to feed for a few meals. I chucked in some deli salami (90p for 100g! Who on earth buys the pre-packed stuff?) and it's really seriously good. Have it cold with some diced toast (srsly) for that crouton effect and you're golden. Got a lot of pasta and soup in the days ahead!

A very meaty game bird Yes my birthday is the 12th day of christmas, so clearly the postman has met a delay in delivering me my 12-thru-4 presents! -
There should be more of an effort by players to play to the spirit of the law, not the word. Good sportsmanship is found in players who aren't playing amongst the loopholes. Anyone remember Robbie Fowler not wanting the penalty? I always respected the player after that, because it's about morals. Suarez is not someone I'd trust with my pint, nor my toothbrush!

Brighton vs swansea/arsenal! Really hoping it's Arsenal, because it may be the first Brighton match I get to see, despite working in the stadium previously.

Had a boring-at-first-then-more-drunk-more-fun evening, was gifted three bottled pints of fancy strong cider (better part of two left!) and I remember the entire evening. Score!

When you are not on the Internet, what do you do?

Eat, drink, smoke, think. Mostly because it rhymes.
