I know what it was trying to do but it still hurt my head.

I stumbled upon a really good shotgun - something like 11x119 dmg, 88 accuracy, 2.2 fire rate (possibly more) that meant I became a shotgunning legend. We've gotten quite good at multi-tasking - the one benifit of multiplayer (I've found). But yeah I tend to find it's got to be decided, or at least announced, what weapon peeps are looking for. Weapon proficiency makes a fair bit of difference up to a point! Is that the same with BL2?

As a soldier on BL1 I have to say that turrets are good, but sooo often I lay one down just as I'm getting killed -- the turret disappears, and any team benefits (ammo/health regen) go with it. But my teammate is sniper and basically runs away shooting, so by default with my shottie... I'm a shoddy Tank replacement (even though I have the ability to heal with bullets...) Yeha still on BL1... Halo 4 and AC3 means my co-op cousin will be engrossed in other avenues so BL2 will have to wait 'til december... if I'm lucky. The game looks fantastic!

xp in Borderlands was something like 100% to the killer blow and 95% to everyone else. It's the second-most important factor in figuring who levels up quickest when you have a party who play together. The most important thing? Reviving a fallen teammate My co-op buddy is fairly decent; doesn't skip anything, but has a tendancy to wander off near the end of a fight because he knows there are gun crates near-by even though he wants snipers and SMGs and I want Shotties and rifles, so whoever gets to the rates first is irrelevent. Oh man... Let me see... A conservative guess would be around 12 hours of non-committal gaming (i.e. refreshing facebook chess). The vast majority of the early hours were replaying to fix errors; I had to fully redo the first 2 missions (at least - maybe mission 3 too) as I'd tripped up somewhere. Missions 4/5/6 were straightforward, as was 8, however 7 was much more sweat inducing (for me). Mission 9 starts off tricky but smoothes out. But you get into the mindset and it's really good fun. Like a 1st-person Metal Gear Solid game (or hitman, I suppose!) and it beomes clear that it's way better (and quicker) to just avoid people altogether rather than try to knock 'em out and hide the bodies. To reiterate; I think the first few levels I was taking 3 hours to do them frst time then about 20-30 2nd time to get it right. I'm rubbish at games, though. Also if you are trying for the stealth, do not talk to granny wossername on mission 2. It makes mission 7 next to impossible to do without killing someone. In terms of game-time, I don't know how many of the collectibles I need for achievements, so I'll be plugging in the hours to make sure I get them all as I go. High Chaos mode is so much more... forgiving. I've saved ONCE so far, about to start mission 3 -- on low chaos I'd probably saved about 100 times by now... >_< And I'm sure low chaos will be easier once you know the maps well, however I think it may take a while to adjust to the slower pace.

Just finished my stealth playthrough - 360G~ish popped at once. DAT FEEL. Didn't realise how many big names were lending their voices to the game; Susan Sarandon, Lena Headey (Sarah Connor, from the TV series), Carrie Fisher, John Slattery (Mad Men), Chloë Grace Moretz (girl from Kick-Ass).. Probably others but I didn't recognise their names in the credits. And now for a high-chaos, get-everything-upgrade-everything playthrough! Stealthing took a lot of patience but I guess trying to get all upgrades will take a lot of perseverance. Considering I've got no combat experience it's going to be like starting a whole new game.

Up to mission 6 now. The last couple were a walk in the park but this one looks to be quite challenging! I love the art direction - people complain about poor textures but that's focusing on the smaller picture and missing out on the well-realised imagination the game offers. Stealth/no kill/no detect/no upgrades = a very, very patient gamer is required. It also means that I'm basically skipping as many 2ndary objectives as possible -- which has, in some cases, made the mission twice as long when I've found that I can't complete the mission properly without doing them.

That is... ouch. Ouch ouch ouch :P I do prefe the headache to the gut-rot/pukulele outcome, however!

Did you drink *all* that scrumpy/westons?

@Sheikah Bethesda published the game, but developed the Elder Scrolls/FO games. Just finished escaping the prison/sewers. I took far too long doing it, and at the end I didn't have a box checked for "undetected" so, in my fury, I redid the game up to that point in about 10 minutes and did it perfectly. I now feel I have a good grasp of both the controls and the game mechanics (so far). I'm going for no kills/no alerts/no upgrades first run through. Should be... fun? Lastly, I like the art so far. It immediately made me think it would be a perfect representation of a Discworldian universe -- discovering the Pratchett] label on some tinned goods in-game made me smile.

I probably should. I am not blessed enough to have any projects - not had any writeable ideas for like 5 years anyway! Perhaps this'll be a kick-starter. I do anticipate that, if my willpower wins out, the first 3,000 words will be overcoming writer's block and, likely, a very self-aware text about a struggling author sitting in a dark room alone.

Did anyone get this in the end? I just finished it 100% in about 25 hours. On the whole, it's a decent game unaffected by bugs, glitches, game-breaking difficulty curve or frustrating set-pieces. Features like controlling the darkling weren't overused, cut scenes weren't too long. I'd be interested in going back to play the first game again. The first game was slower, darker, more alienating and visceral. This sequel has given Jackie more depth with his roster of mafia mates, and the art direction is very borderlands-ish, but polished and straightforward. But it still feels kinda like two different games, the first trying to be sandbox-ish, condemnedish, Crow-ish. This one, with its skill trees and co-op campaign and much more linear areas leaves less room for one to simmer or brood with the character. Less need to lurk about (less abilities to do so) and more combat strength. I do kinda feel like D2 has sacrificed some of the depth with their shorter game (it feels shorter but honestly I can't remember the first game's length that well), and instead uses relatively easy to attain achievements to produce a very rewarding experience throughout. Less of a cult classic and more of a well-adjusted (aside from the blood and stuff) member of modern gaming society. Yeah I'd be interested in hearing from others who have played it -- and if anyone wants to comment on some similarities with Shadows of the Damned, too. SotD wanted to have fun with the b-movie hell-bound genre and they strangely predicted much of D2.

I love recommending movies to people, because I feel like I have an actual ability to recognise a good movie from bad. However, I have come to find that I still need to work on recognising whether the people watching the movie are good movie goers or bad. I counter-balance this by simply not watching the movie with them. I bought drive for my cousin's b'day, and I'm glad I did the balancing act. He and my my uncle watched it and afterwards just said "meh". At that point I've either got to try and explain the movie to them, or just give up and consider buying Gone In 60 Seconds instead...

I've now come into borrowed possession of several games; N3, Rage, metro 2033, darkness 2, mass effect, battlefield bad company 2, lollipop chainsaw (fuck yeah) AND dishonoured (!!!) - I'm most-way through Darkness 2, then I gotta flash through ME to get my char ready for ME2/3... I went from a couple of evenings with nothing to play and BLAMMO! Now I got loads of single player funz to supplement my co-op borderlandsing.

Diageo's interpretation is akin to me saying I've kissed a dead person. I mean, they will be a dead person one day. That's how I see it, anyway. [this is kind of creepy]

Man, yeah. Jericho got 'renewed' then cancelled all over again so the last 2-3 episodes they squeeze a whole bunch of ideas in -- like what Carnivale did but a whole lot more. It really skewed the 2nd season and made it feel rally unbalanced. It's like they were renewed so they took it easy for the first few eps, then ratings dropped again. Nuts!

And here was me hoping I'd get past the first round of a cup :P (I think I lost to Cube in the final of a cup once..? Really can't remember)

Thanks peeps Letting an inactive team simply slip down the leagues is definitely the easiest and least meddling method. Too many times the season-long relegation battle has been nulled by something like this happening.
-
I'll stick around! The lower league is too often too full of non-players so I'll gladly consider myself perhaps a gate master for noobs or something. If I may join then that'd be grand! If you remove heroijan and don't replace the team then the league numbers would have to change. If it changes to 10-10-9 then 2 go down to mid, 3 go up, 3 go down, 4 go up (I think) to make the numbers fit. I'm sure we had this problem before..? Haden ought to know the answer.

Totally sweet ideas. It's a shame that so many of these planned outcomes didn't occur -- but I think it's appreciated that the effort went into them.
-
Serves me right for not checking the thread for ages - I was under the assumption that the cup'd be auto-entry My change report; +5, -9. Whelp, I guess those two are the last nails in teh coffin, eh? I'll continue dragging my knuckles to give the bottom league some face - but I'll just be a resident troll lurking in the depths.

I had a very enjoyable game - as yvonne says, my brain certainly melted with the code. I ended up with 3 pager numbers; 410-921-5389 (Wee-bey -- Zell - evil) 410-844-4293 (d'angelo -- marcamillian - town) 410-921-1402 (barksdale) ... the last one I managed to send for wiretap on teh first night by googling "stringer bell's pager number". I only McNulty et al could've utilised such a resource... Here are the codes I got, in no real order; 170060643406878232471 - edited into; 17787160643406878232471 323646738700086077 7846704341738678037142387484 32364673870044283672 I wanted to gather a few results before sharing them, but then Sheikah forced my hand and I became a focus -- if I revealed my info then the mafia might've been panicked into really enforcing a lynch so I had to tread the fine line between proving my innocence yet appearing shady enough for the mafia to leave me be -- which they did. I still maintain that my playstyle is effective - cause enough controversy and the maff will keep you alive. The hubbub I caused indirectly made me really suspect mr-paul and nintendohnut from early on. The fact that the only 'defense' I got was from Sheikah who turned up both good and dead is, I think, why town leaned towards trusting me further down the line. I do want to say sorry to tales and mr-paul! My secondary win condition (I'm one of a handful!) meant that I could tell myself it's ok to roleblock town. I genuinely misstepped roleblocking peeps twice, but with tales I figured it was a safe bet to keep blocking him simply because his idea that I looked dodgy was extremely laughable by that point. RE: the codes; I was really disappointed in myself for not being able to do anything with them. I was convinced that the code was something along the lines of two digits = one character, but there wasn't much of a pattern to work with. At first I was going to get two codes to compare, then that wasn't enough, and ended up having to try each number once then retry a number to see how the code changed. I think if I had longer I could've done something, but alas! I was selfish. But when I saw that nobody else seemed to have any vested interest in the code then I presumed that it wasn't a central game mechanic, so I did put it on the backburner - again because I felt that revealing it might worry the maff into killing me. Definitely one of my most enjoyable games. I'd get so nervous logging in each day as I was certain that today was teh day the mafia would go after me. As Jonnas highlighted early on, it seemed the Wire-watchers were getting picked off. I was certainly a very fitting Prez. I was literally laughing out loud at my own ineptitude at times. I very much believe in the Drunken Master strategy of appearing much more out of control than I actually am. I apologise to people who were pissed off in-game (sheikah, peeps, tales, and others) - it wasn't all charades but it wasn't all stupidity either :P So! go watch the fucking show. The amount of games I've played (i.e. pokemafia games) where I've not known the source material well and struggled because of it... I'm just so glad that this game proved that a knowledge of source material is a benefit. While the show exemplifies how the boundary between good and evil is blurred, I think Yvonne made teh correct decision in maintaining the show's polarity between cops and robbers. Sure, there's a lot of internal hatebreeding (that's not even a real word) in both worlds, but it fits. The brilliant thing is that later seasons offer such brilliant potential for mafia games! I forget what else I was going to say. Thanks yvonne! p.s. to further emphasise; I have a notebook with pages of number scrawlings that make no sense whatsoever. Cube's code [that wasn't meant to be broken] was cracked simply because of the wealth of code that was available. This code was breakable but not for my skill level with the amount of code to hand (only because I just ignored the phonepad from the early GM post, that now seems to be related!).
