Yes! Finally... Day 1 purchase. I'm sure @RedShell will be on this as well?
-
It's times like these that I enjoy having Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, it seems to be on these days in June when most of the E3 magic happens.
-
Where did you get that from Josh? (if you don't mind me asking) I know they've been steadily getting cheaper, I'd consider buying one at around that price if it was a retailer deal. Wait... Mario Party 10? Hmm I may be able to find a double to trade for one of them, I'm in the process of sorting out my game collection so I'll let you know if I have one for trade. : peace:

Great game, really excellent intro, interacting with the world seems to feel reasonably natural, controls are fine, characters are interesting, setting is glorious but... ...the game crashed during the tutorial. Just as well that I was able to continue from just before that point, clearly some patching needed but I shall not let this dampen my enthusiasm for what's sure to be a stunning game. Time to make a cup of tea and then get straight back into it. : peace:
-
The animation within the game seems to be shaping up nicely. : peace:

Oh well... If I can scrape together enough points to make 3000 so I can get that Mario Kart 8 Soundtrack then I'll be happy.

I've heard it's rather good... http://www.n-europe.com/reviews/kirbys-epic-yarn ...perhaps even unmissable. : peace:

My Tesco Direct order has labelled Thw Witcher 3 as Ready to Dispatch so this should mean it will be on its way tomorrow and will arrive about midday on Tuesday, perhaps earlier if I'm lucky though. I reckon there's a good chance you'll get your copy first @Shorty as you're probably closer to the main warehouse where the stock will be coming from. : peace:
-
Just a heads-up, I registered for stock alerts on Little Mac for Tesco Direct and they got some in at 7am this morning, all gone now of course - only just got up - but I just thought it would be of interest to anyone still after him, @Hero\-of\-Time perhaps? For what it's worth, had I managed to get any I was planning on offering them up on here for Nintendo's retail price (£10.99) plus postage but alas, it was not to be... I've registered for stock alerts again though just in case any more come in, but potential restocks after nothing for months has got to be a good sign. : peace:

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
S.C.G replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Dat Playstation Plus! What was once an optional subscription service is now a selling point in itself being that it's ridiculously good value for money with all of those free games. I literally don't have enough room on my Vita for all of the Plus games and that's after upgrading the memory card. -
I'm really glad that we finally managed to get BT Infinity in our area last year, it comes in handy for things like this, before that we wouldn't even get a tenth of the speed we have now even on a good day, some days it would even feel like we were back on 56k dial-up. I think as fibre broadband becomes more standard, services like this will really take off but I do hope that for the final version that there will be ways to streamline things for all connections. : peace:
-
Congrats! You're going to love it Hero, though I wonder if they'll be able to swap the games out quick enough for you as I suspect you'll have the PS Now library beaten by the weekend. I jest of course. : peace: Seriously though, it's a really robust service, I don't know how long the beta is due to last for but I tried it out a week or so ago and I was really impressed by it, I might turn on my PS4 later and see if I can make any more progress with Batman... ...or just pick something else instead, it'd be bad not to try out a decent amount of what's on offer after all. Hmm also that's a point, I wonder if there are any good games with online multiplayer in the beta - assuming that works - could be fun to try out one evening.

I think this is probably a good time to start playing through the Dragon Quest games that I have, in reverse order... naturally. Seems only right seeing as I started with Dragon Quest IX on the DS. To my knowledge these are the DQ titles I have... DQIX DS PAL DQVIII PS2 NTSC DWVII PS NTSC DQV DS PAL DWIII GB PAL A few gaps to fill in as I still need to buy DQIV and DQ VI on the DS plus DWI&II on the Game Boy but I don't hold out much hope in owning the latter, I think I'm quite lucky just to own a boxed copy of Dragon Warrior III as it is. I really need to get into playing these games seeing as I'm in the process of organising my collection, boxing all of the cardboard games inside box protectors, it will be nice to have easy access to DWIII again as it has always intrigued me, would be a good game to play on the Retron. : peace: At least this thread has renewed my interest in the series, of course I'll pick this up on the 3DS if it does get localised, I have a feeling that DQVIII is one of those games that I'd want an excuse to play through *again. *Even though I'd still want to see a home console HD version somewhere down the line... it has to happen one day!
-
True... it's just a shame that it will now likely not see a HD re-release even on Playstation platforms, or at least not for a while. I just always thought that the graphical style of the game would lend itself well to such a release. Do we think it will be significantly scaled-back for this portable release? I can see how DQVII can work as it's a PS1 game but with DQVIII being a PS2 game originally there will have to be some compromises just like there would have been with Tales of the Abyss. I'd still play this if it made its way over here on 3DS but again the chances of that happening are slim which is a shame as DQ has always been a series I've been interested in and would definitely invest more in should there be re-releases. Not that there's anything wrong with the original releases, but it's good to have options. : peace:
-
So for Square-Enix it makes more sense to make portable scaled-back versions of consoles classics like Dragon Quest VIII for 3DS and mobile platforms yet no HD re-release for current home consoles? They've now released Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD on PS3, PSV and PS4, why not just do the same for DQVIII and release it on the Wii U in addition to the 3DS? Do they not think it would sell?

I hope the new battery sorts out your gamepad problems Josh. It must be really frustrating not being able to use the device being that it's so integral to the console. Personally I'm amazed my gamepad still works, on more than one occasion it has fallen off my desk, fortunately with a screen cover attached, I've learned to accept the amount of space it takes up on my desk over time but still... it's rather substantial and as much as I enjoy using the device it doesn't come across as being very practical for prolonged periods of use. Though I am still glad to have it in my life. : peace:

I found this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/official-nintendo-Charger-For-Nintendo-Wii-U-WU-Gamepad-Remote-Controller-/261884601484?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cf989e48c Seems to be the only official one for sale on eBay in the UK as a standalone item. £15.99 but probably your best bet. : peace:

I'm sorry to hear that Eevil my condolences to you and your family.

Mine arrived today in the normal post as well, only just got back from work though, playing it this evening for certain! Good to see you back on the forum @Hero\-of\-Time seems like you've been busy clearing your Kirby backlog. I recall hearing you say how much you were looking forward to this game when we last played MH4U, it'll be nice to hear what you think of it. : peace: Anyone else been playing this already? I'm tempted to see what it's like in local co-op, seems fun.
-
No, it's just preference. I prefer how Phantasy Star IV looks on the Retron just as I prefer how most of the Sega 3D classics look on the 3DS, although again I suppose that's a slightly different comparison. These are all just different ways to experience the same games, ultimately though the fantastic gameplay remains the same which is what matters. : peace:
-
It's great isn't it? Everything seems to look even sharper on the Retron 5 as well which adds to the effect... Mega Drive Retron 5 I was quite amazed at the difference as the first time I tried it out I was thinking... 'Wait... this is the same game but, I don't recall it looking quite as good as this!' Will definitely get back to finishing it soon. : peace:

Got to be a demo of some kind surely? I won't be able to watch this direct live tomorrow but I'll definitely be catching up with all the news after work. For those who are going to be watching it though, enjoy!
