  1. Turned out to be a good weekend for United. 3 points and the teams around us not really getting full points. I thought we completely dominated yesterday, but teams are now just going to sit back and hope to beat us one-nil from a corner or freekick. Everybody knows that we are strong in midfield now, so they'll just soak up our pressure. We need to be far more clinical in front of goal. (also Herrera should be starting more games) Not surprised at the Arsenal-Spurs score. Thought Spurs could hold on, but Arsenal have the ability to snatch goals. There's still a definite barrier there that separates the top teams with teams such as Spurs and Everton. They don't quite have that ability to get over the line when struggling. A big opportunity for Spurs today to make a statement by getting three points, that really would have made things interesting.
  2. Neither do health packs. Why would you find a health pack in an underground cave, or in the middle of a jungle, or on top of a desk in a lab, for example? The concept of them doesn't make sense either. But, from a gameplay perspective, regenerative health works. It gives the user a prompt that you're close to being killed. So, you either find cover and time to recover or you die. Imagine how frustrating it would be if you've just made it through a really difficult section and die because you couldn't find a health pack around (there's none around). It makes the game less frustrating so that you can concentrate on the more fun things, such as exploring, adventuring, gunplay, uncovering more of the story, etc.
  3. Defensively, we look quite good. Best we've looked in a while. Midfield also looks tight and it's been a long time since we've had a midfield that looks this solid. Teams will find it hard to break us down because we're much tighter. But, the problem is that we don't create enough chances and we don't have enough quality to put the chances away. We're just not ruthless enough, at least not yet. If we get to the 70th minute and we haven't scored, I'll be bricking it.
  4. Wouldn't surprise me if that's what it turns out to be. But, we're due a big performance. Could see us going out to prove a point by thrashing them. Desperately need more goalscorers. Depay needs to step up and start scoring.
  5. That's absolutely fair and I am more forgiving towards it being glitchy or whatnot for that reason. How are the developers in terms of releasing patches to fix the game? Are they quite quick? Think this will be one of those games where I wait for the internet's/this forum's reactions before I decide whether to go for it or not. Think I will add it to the list as all signs point to it being excellent.
  6. Tempted to put this on my Christmas list. The only concerning thing is the amount of people I see online saying that this will be broken on release, or glitchy. Will this be because there's tons of stuff crammed into the game, therefore more things to go wrong (as in, it's pushing the machine to its limits), or is it because it'll suffer from lack of polish? I know absolutely nothing about this other than its post-apocalyptic setting.
  7. Hearts of Stone is the first expansion for the game. There's two expansion packs in total. One is Hearts of Stone, recently released. The other is Blood and Wine, due out early next year. Altogether, they're about 30 hours+ of extra content (10 roughly for Hearts of Stone, 20 for Blood and Wine)

     

    You can get the season pass for 20 quid which means you can download both when they're available. Orrrrrr, there's a special edition physical version of Hearts of Stone, where you get some cards that feature in the Witcher 3. Basically, there's a card game within the game (YO DAWG I HURD U LIEK GAMES SO WE PUT A GAME WITHIN UR GAME SO U CAN GAME WHILST U GAME) and the physical Hearts of Stone expansion includes two of the four card decks.

     

    The main game itself is...looooooooong. Seriously, it'll be worth the extra few quid due to its length. You'll probably last the year off The Witcher 3 and Destiny.

  8. What's the alternative though? Conveniently placed "health packs"? They're just a ridiculous. It's one of those things that you need to have in games otherwise you'd die from one bullet hit. Imagine going into a room and dying instantly, say, 20 or 30 times in succession. If we were going for realism, if you were to get shot in the leg, you'd fall to the ground and someone else (a second shooter or even the one who shot you) would have all of the time in the world to just follow it up with another bullet to put you out of your misery. It would get boring reeeeeeally, really fast. I like the idea of recovering health and it works absolutely fine in the Uncharted/Tomb Raider games. There's no better way of doing it and the games would become frustratingly or unnecessarily difficult as a result of it.

  11. By doing this, Nintendo ultimately devalued the appeal of these types of games. Why buy a whole new Wave Race game when you can "get the same experience in WiiSports Resort", eh Miyamoto? (tore my hair out at that quote in the video) Control scheme might have worked, but it could be quite annoying after a while I imagine. You'd have to change the whole course design to accommodate it since I imagine extremely tight corners or bends would be a bitch. I'd just take a regular control scheme for this game. It's not like Wave Race was boring without it. Anyway, I doubt we'll ever see this again. 1080 and Wave Race are essentially dead franchises now.

  13. I watched the Bournemouth game yesterday against Southampton. After that awful epic tale trying to get tickets for the match (English football, complaining on the one hand that fans can't get to games, then putting in awful, awful barriers that prevent people from getting tickets, extortionate prices and then that feeling of infuriating anger when you see empty seats at the stadium on tv), we ended up watching the match in the pub. I thought Bournemouth were awful yesterday. For some reason, they've received praise for their second half performance, even though they didn't even look remotely dangerous and Southampton just sat back and didn't even attempt to play anymore after going 2-0 up, despite going down to 10 men. I found their play really frustrating and it cements my firm dislike for possession football. Attacking football > possession football. I watch football for goals, not passing percentages. Didn't even look like a derby game because there was no tenacity or fight. A big disappointment.
  14. I'm not surprised, tbh. For me, the WiiU/3DS era is definitely my least favourite one and I also don't particularly like the 3DS or GBA. Not a big lover of handhelds, but I loved the DS and what it did. Playing Hotel Dusk was such a fantastic experience and I'm hoping to play Last Window at some point. Not surprised at these results. Both the N64 and GC were fantastic consoles. My one criticism with the GC is that the last 2 years were reeeeeeally slow and laboured.
  15. You answered it in the second paragraph, brah. Don't worry, I hate Mondays, too. But yeah, the question was at which point do you decide to move up the weight. As in, do you aim for 5 reps, get those 5 reps and then move the weight up next time, which is what I was planning to do. But yeah, you answered eet.
  16. I voted N64. The first real Nintendo console that I loved. Most of my appreciation for the GameCube and Wii came from everything that started with my fondness of the N64. If I could narrow it down to 5 key titles, they would be: Ocarina of Time - my then favourite game of all time. Majora's Mask - very psychedelic and just an all-round mindfuck. F Zero X - intense speed...found it exhilarating. Mario Kart 64 - 4 player heaven. Goldeneye - 4 player heaven with an excellent story mode. :P
  17. The selection isn't that great. The 1st person viewpoint is a bit of a mindfuck in GTA. You could run down a street, jump into a car, start a police chase and run away on foot in first person. It's hard to describe why it's good, but it just looks fantastic. There's nothing else that's really out there that does the same sort of thing that GTAV does and in the way that it does it. Everything suddenly seems bigger because you understand the size ratios more, since you're now seeing things from the perspective as if you were actually there. If you're being chased and running towards an alleyway, it may seem a long way off because that's how it would be in real life. Whether it's innovation of the year or not, I don't know. But, it's a bluddy good addition to the series. It's not even the most important category, tbh. I always look at the games that won each system, ultimate game and then things like best audio, best visual, best story, etc.
  18. I don't know about PES, but FIFA at least has pretty much moved onto the new/current gen of consoles. I don't think you can access Pro Clubs on PS3? What don't you like about FIFA? For some reason, Pro seems to score higher critically, but FIFA seems to be the one that turns out to have bigger numbers and gets more of a playerbase. I've always enjoyed FIFA more, bar from about the years 2002-2007.
  19. That's my point though. There were tons of fantastic games. Also, you missed Wave Race 64 and 1080 Snowboarding. Yup, the reason I'm on here is because of the transitional period between N64 and GameCube. Think I came here looking for Zelda wallpapers as Ocarina and Majora both made me lose my shit.
  20. Should have been dropped 4/5 maybe even 6 games ago. I caught Newcastle on Match of the Day and thought that they looked good. The intention was there and Butland did well to keep the score 0-0. I think they are in a relegation fight, or at least will be for the most part of this season. It depends on where the goals come from.
  21. I tried the demo and thought it was alright. PES went through a good spell a few years back but I find it too slow and one dimensional. There's something about FIFA and its modes and presentation that instantly makes it more appealing. Every game feels like an FA Cup or Premier League tie, whereas I always see PES as just being a bit too slow for my liking.
  22. The vast majority who call FIFA and the likes of Watch Dogs garbage are the type to never actually play these types of games anyway.
  23. We're never going to score a goal ever again. I actually don't feel confident whoever we play now. Defensively, I think we're fine. I don't see us conceding many. But, fuck, we are useless in attack. We couldn't score in a brothel.
  24. I get the sentimentality. We should be playing the same version in Europe as Japan, or at least the vast majority of the game should be the same. That I agree with. But, in this case, I actually think it's the wrong way around, in the sense that the Japanese version is wrong to begin with. The version on the left seems more fitting in with the tone of the game. Why would a character be running around with a bikini in the first place? THAT should be the default, not the one that the Japanese actually have. Sharla wore some questionable armour in Xenoblade on Wii. I accepted that because it was part of the fantasy theme on the game. I can see the version on the left working in pretty much the same way. We're kidding ourselves if we think the version on the right fits in. What's the defence/armour level going to be for that? 0? It's pointless and doesn't fit in with the theme at all.
