Gaming Podcasts: A Thread about Listening to Others
Ronnie replied to Goron_3's topic in General Gaming Discussion
What a dumb click-baity Youtube thumbnail. I hate hyperbole like that. But yeah, a terrible situation. -
I think the Switch being a thing is behind the high sales tbh, it's the same with every first party game.

I'm really struggling this year gaming wise. Not too many standouts tbh. I started playing Battlefront II's single player the other day but had a terrible time with it. I'm not too good at shooters but even after switching the difficulty to Easy I was still struggling with just the second mission! Switched it off in frustration. The AI seems terrible too and there are bugs all over the place. Really disappointing. Maybe I'm just used to cover based shooters. On Switch, Fire Emblem is very tempting but I'll leave it, I gave Yoshi a miss, I'm also skipping Astral Chain (it looks good but Platinum games aren't really my thing). Haven't touched my PS4 since Spider-Man, nothing really there. I'd like to play the Uncharted games but I got about an hour and a half into the first game of the Collection and put it down out of boredom. Felt too dated to enjoy. Shadow of the Tomb Raider I'll get round to sometime, but not in the mood atm, that's the only AAA game I can think of I'm interested in that's out. Indie wise on Switch, I'm tempted by Cave Story, Guacamelee 2, Hyper Light Drifter and Slay the Spire (after IGN were raving about it), but I dunno, meh.

That Beyonce "song" was generic, unmemorable rubbish. I wasn't as big a fan of Timon and Pumba as most people. At least compared to the originals

I expected multiplayer games too till I saw Captain Toad was thir pick in te US. Toad is a port though and probably isn't selling huge numbers any more, so maybe that's why. Personally I doubt it very much. Switch software sales are insane though so why jeopardise that with this kind of thing...?

Looks like Game Trials is a new thing for Nintendo Switch Online members the full game is also 33% off during that week. Progress carries over if you buy the game to keep

Time to dust off my PS4 for this. Wasn't expecting it to be such a budget price, I wonder if that's a reflection of the quality/content or just them realising it wouldn't sell to the PS4 demographic at full price.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20th 2019)
Ronnie replied to Julius's topic in General Chit Chat
For the silent majority, nothing needs "rescueing". For me personally I loved the Last Jedi, and so did critics it seems (91% on Rotten Tomatoes). Can't wait to see how Abrams wraps everything up though, I'm sure he'll do a great job. -
The gameplay in the dungeons is good, combat is fun and there's plenty of progression options so I'm sure you'll have a great time. I'm really enjoying it, just maybe not quite as much as I would have liked, but that's just me.

I'm about to head into either the last or before last dungeon in Moonlighter. I'm still enjoying it, but at the same time it's incredibly repetitive. The gameplay loot is copy and pasted for each one, and not in the Zelda kind of way where it's like "go here" "do something" "access dungeon" "find unique item" "use it to access boss", this is literally you're doing the exact same loot > sell > upgrade over and over. It's a fun time but meh, I'm glad I got it on the eShop sale for £12. One of those digital games I'll play and soon forget about. Lovely animations though

DOOM, DOOM II and DOOM 3 all out on the eShop later today! Stealth release https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/07/the_original_doom_doom_ii_and_doom_3_have_all_surprise_launched_on_nintendo_switch

It’s free on Game Pass too. Could have got it there but wanted it on Switch.

I'm quite early so it's hard to place a value on it but £20 seems fine, no more than that though, I'd guess. There are 4 (5?) dungeons, you progress through them in order but they're randomly generated each time. Each have their own theme though. There are no puzzles (at least that I've seen so far). I've only just made it through 1 and a half floors out of 3 or 4 of the first one and it's taken me about 20 dungeon runs. You go in, collect loot, come out, sell, upgrade, go back in. Similar to Enter the Gungeon I guess except you're not starting from scratch each time but instead escaping before you get killed and lose your loot. Structurally it's like LOZ on the NES, rooms that go up down left or right. Again, so far at least. One thing that is a little annoying is the combat is more Dark Souls than Zelda to me. Very slow sword swipe animations so you really have to time and attack enemies carefully. Enemies are great so far though, almost all of them have some sort of twist.

Started playing Moonlighter last night, it's a lot of fun! Lovely visuals too. Nice gameplay loop though the inventory management is a bit annoying.

Luigi will finally get his time in the spotlight when Geoff Keighley gives LM3 the GOTY, just you watch... maybe...
-
Is this different from the Wii U era? I remember being annoyed Special Editions would come with the giant USK logo on the game box itself Any game that gets a 9 or over on IGN is automaticaly in their conversation for the GOTY shortlist. That said, I can't see a game like this ever winning. Also it's at 87 on Metacritic, so IGN liked it more than most.
-
It's precisely that reason why I'm not getting it. If it was a 20-30 hour campaign, absolutely but I know I'll never finish it. Same reason I didn't play AC: Odyssey, just too big. I know people like huge epic games full of content but unless you're a huge fan of the genre it also turns a lot of people off I think.

Wow, you've both summed up Era perfectly @Nicktendo and @Hero-of-Time I tend to just laugh at the place these days, every third topic on there is some social agenda pushing nonsense about how the hair colour of this black protagonist is "problematic" or "this game only has male/female gender options 'and that's not ok'" "Yikes".
-
Nintendo know what they're doing. Restrict it to 32 to stop people spamming it, then increase it over time for the serious MM2 players who've stuck around.
-
I really hope it gets translated, would love to read it. Such a heartbreaking loss. The only "celebrity" death that's truly affected me.
-
Anyone who writes "I'm screaming" deserves no sympathy. Probably jammed the sticks to one side hard when no one was looking for the social media publicity

More personality and charm in that one line from Jeri Ryan than two robotic years of Michael Burnham combined.
-
That genunely made me LOL. Oversaturation clearly not a word in the Marvel universe.

This has literally just appeared on Amazon The only thing that hadn't been seen previously is the Tie Dagger, which looks pretty awesome. -
New Switch revision announced (NOT the Switch Lite!)
Ronnie replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Good insight. They would have sold a billion of them if it cost 10 pence. Doesn’t mean it’s anything to be proud of. We wont ever agree. It’s fine
