Our house isn't too bad for damp or mould, it's just there's nowhere warm enough to dry the washing. The living room is pretty much the only place that gets warm enough, but even that isn't ideal. Out of curiosity, what's the cost of running a dehumidifier?

I did a quick first impressions video, because all the cool kids are doing it:

I'm definitely going to have to look into one of those clothes dryer things. We currently have all our clothes on racks in the kitchen and even after 3-4 days, they're still sometimes damp. We have shit heating in there and we tried moving the clothes to the living room, but we ended up with damp walls. I really hate the winter.

I have nothing to add on the Switch, but out me down as another one who has no issues with the DS4. Mine still looks good as new, despite me rage throwing it a couple of times.

They were very nice colours. Nicely saturated without being neon and it worked well with the matte finish. I liked them. Red/blue is obviously the way to go:

Good point, but is it worth driving up the cost of the controllers for? I'm honestly not sure it is. I absolutely loved the feel of it, but I wouldn't be gutted if it wasn't used.

Yeah, but I've never had high hopes/expectations of racing games on Nintendo consoles, so I'm not really disappointed. Which GC games require analogue triggers? I can't actually remember any that do, although I'll admit my GC knowledge is pretty limited. To be fair though, I already own all the GC games I want on the actual GC, so it's not a real drawback to me. The more I think about it, the more I really do want a Switch. I've always seen it as an upgrade to the 3DS rather than the new home console, so all these drawbacks aren't really an issue to me, since the 3DS didn't have half the stuff anyway. The only issues that are a major hurdle for me is the price and the software lineup.

I use them in racing games, but I don't think I'd miss them too much on the Switch. Nintendo has never really been the home of decent racing (actual racing, not karts) games anyway. I'd really like to own a Switch, there's just not enough there for me currently to justify the price.

To me, the L/R buttons didn't feel analogue at all. There definitely wasn't enough travel in them to give the impression of "proper" analogue. Maybe they'll be pressure sensitive, but I wouldn't hold much hope of having precise control over acceleration in racing games etc. This was also true for the pro controller. All control inputs were very consistent in terms of feel/features etc, so I don't think any control method offers anything that the others don't.

Just got back from the hands-on event today. My thoughts: The Event Great time. The staff were all awesome and friendly. Very knowledgeable about their respective games, or at least it seemed that way. Free food and drink, also a bonus. Could have been handled better in terms of queues etc, but I suppose given the sheer amount of people, a bit of disorganisation is to be expected. The Switch Hardware Very good. Very good indeed. Felt solid in all configurations, including handheld, which I did expect to have a little bit of flex and put strain on the connectors, but it felt solid. No analogue triggers from what I could tell. If they are, it's a similar level of analogue to the PS4/XB1 face buttons rather than gradual triggers. Although the single Joycons are very small, they weren't as uncomfortable as I was expecting. Perfectly fine to use. Not a fan of tabletop mode, but it's not exactly required. It's not that bad though. Looked pretty good on a big TV. Resolution was fine. HD Rumble was amazing. Not sure how it could be used, but it was very impressive tech. I was watching someone play Zelda on the TV, looked away and when I looked back they were playing handheld. Although I didn't actually see the transition, the transfer from TV to handheld must have been pretty quick. I'll put individual games in spoilers, just in case. Also, cant be arsed to post them in their own threads.

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!

And also learnt to play this, because it's awesome and easy: -
No, but I bet that MadDog Marathon one will be worth a fortune one day.

I'll check next time I fire up the Pi.

In terms of the Switch's power, I agree with this. It's like watching a great driver thrash the life out of a Cinquecento. It's fun for a while, but eventually you wonder what they could do with an Impreza. Plus there's the 3rd party argument and attracting consumers that just buy one console, but that's been done to death.

I just don't like the designs of many of the new ones. If I saw a Pokemon I liked the design of more than the ones I ended up with, I'd have gladly swapped one of them out. I stuck with Decidueye because I liked the design. I even gave the new Pokémon a chance by looking up their evolutions, but none of them appealed to me.

I've always found the psychic, sleep powder and poison powder to be useful. Plus I've never really built teams for power, just for whichever ones I like (with some type variety so I don't get my ass handed to me).

My mistake. It was an Arcanine. Just typed Growlithe by mistake.

Just finished the Elite 4, making this the first Pokemon game I've finished since Blue on the Game Boy. Suppose that means I quite like it. Finished it with Decidueye Butterfree Growlithe Magnezone Tentacruel Gengar Probably went in a bit underleveled, but managed to get through them all on the first attempt.

Happy New Year one and all. I get to spend the festivities in bed ill. Fucking 2016. It just couldn't go down without one last fuck you...

Their YouTube policy is totally.different to everyone elses, or at least it used to be (I don't think it has changed though). IIRC, you sign up on their website and they monitor your channel, take all the profits for videos with Nintendo games in, then give you slightly less that you would have received normally. I think they also have stricter guidelines on what you can say/do on Nintendo game videos. I get the sentiment, but it feels a bit overbearing and harsh on the fans. Or heroic and brave, depending on your perspective.

Been playing Moon for a few days now and although I am enjoying it, I have a few gripes: -The whole island thing makes the world feel a bit fragmented and "bite-size". I think I'd have preferred a single, larger island. -Christ, the call for help thing is annoying when you're trying to catch something. -There are a lot of cutscenes. I generally like cutscenes, but these seem a bit meh. Like "Oh, I've found an item shop!" That said, it is still pretty good overall.

Had a pretty awesome Christmas, although I'm sick as a dog now. Our Christmas day consisted of 5 locations, 2 meals and a shit-tonne of presents. A breakdown: Woke up in our house, spent the morning opening our presents to each other (Pokemon Sun for her, Moon for me) and then proceeding to play them. Drove to my parents' for another round of presents and watching the dog try to open everything, regardless of whether it was his or not. Walked to my Nan's for yet more presents and to see my cousins and their kids. Back to my parents for Christmas lunch, which was an amazing roast turkey with all the usuals. Drove to Maddie's Nan's in Bristol for even more presents and another meal (yet more roast Turkey). Then we took Maddie's Mum home, where we spent the night. It was hectic, but pretty rad, with tonnes of amazing food. We left a load of presents at my parents house, which was probably a good thing, as the boot was full on the way back from Bristol. Some photos from the day: Some rad figures I got from my parents and nan: Indy wondering why he can't open the rest of the presents: And I also opened up a new career in Nuclear Safety:

Replacing sockets is a piece of cake. I did most of ours. It's literally clamping 3 wires into the relevant holes, then using a plug in tester to make sure you did it right. it's almost exactly like wiring a plug, so there should be no problems allowing anyone to do it. Installing new ones is a bit trickier, since it involves wiring behind walls. Although it.does appear from your quote that anyone can do it. I personally would want someone qualified to do it if it involves wiring a new circuit in, but I can imagine it's a similarly easy job. Also, get sockets with USB slots on. They're cool and are no extra work to install, although they will charge things slower than a normal socket.
