Top 10 Clickbait Titles! Number 8 Will Shock You!

One of the downsides to the Phantom is that to get a clear view the camera hangs quite low, meaning it can get dirtied by long grass etc. So I made myself a take off pad to avoid getting the camera dirty. Used our CNC router and flat bed printer at work to put a bunch of aerial photos and the DJI logo onto a bit of brushed aluminium:

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!

Did my first slight today before work (and yes, I did calibrate the compass!). Got some footage, but nothing special: I don't think I've ever been as nervous as when I took it up high. It just feels wrong. Looking at the screen helps, but seeing a tiny dot in the sky is very unnerving. Super easy to fly though. It's so stable it's unreal. The hardest part is figuring out which way it's facing when it's so far away. I'm looking forward to getting to a more open area so I don't have to worry about trees etc.

It may be nostalgia talking, but I always liked Talmit's Adventure on the Mega Drive: Rolo to the Rescue was always good fun too. Mainly because there was quite a lot to explore if I remember right:

I have a loose plan, but I think it's the things you don't plan that make life great, so I'm not too dedicated to it. Back in my mid 20's, I made a plan, which was get girlfriend, save money, get a house with said girlfriend. It was probably my most solid plan and it worked quite well. It's not been exactly as planned, but the main steps were on point. The only place it went a bit off plan was when we ended up living together with my parents for a few years. That was mainly due to me meeting her whilst she was at uni and moving back to Bristol, 2 hours away. We did the long distance thing for a bit, then she moved in with me, allowing us to save for a house. All in all, it worked out pretty well. As for the future, I have no idea really. I want to continue my Graphic Design career, but I'm not exactly sure how. Other than applying for better jobs, I don't really have a plan. I have little desire to be a manager or anything, so I guess I just keep plodding along as a regular designer, just maybe for different companies/sectors to keep things interesting. I have various side projects, such as the YouTube channel and my photography (weddings and events mainly), but none of them are really viable careers, seeing as freelance photography is dying due to everyone having a camera now and the YouTube thing being a one in a million chance of becoming big enough to support me. I keep doing them because I love doing it and if I give up, there's zero chance of doing something with them.

Seeing as I just bought a drone, I figured I'd start a thread for RC stuff. I've always been a big kid, so naturally RC stuff has always amused me. Beyond the toy stuff, the bigger models have always been a bit pricey for me, so whilst I'm not a collector or anything, I've had a few decent RC models over the years: Tamiya Shooting Star My first ever decent RC car. Loved this thing and it took the all the abuse a pre-teen version of me could give it. It's still around somewhere, but I've no idea if it works. Nitro Bug My first Nitro RC car. It was a bit of a pig and never really ran right. It also stripped a gear on the first run. I bought my second Nitro car shortly after. Hyper 7 TQ Sport Apparently, I didn't take a photo of this one. It was pretty good fun and ran quite well. Also pretty fast. Unfortunately, Nitro wasn't for me, as they need a lot of maintenance and tuning and I spent more time fiddling with it than actually driving it. I sold it after about a year. Yokomo Drift RX7 This thing was the absolute tits. Came in kit form, so I got the fun of making it and it was super reliable, being all electric. It was one of the first drift RC cars and it drifted really well, as shown . It dropped a screw from the front wheel hub at some point and replacements were hard to find, so it's sat in my wardrobe ever since. I'll revive it at some point. Team Losi Micro T I bought this as a bit of fun and it's awesome. Really tiny truck, but with plenty of hop up options and has all the features of a 1/10th scale truck. Great fun, although the battery has died, so will need another one. DJI Phantom 3 Standard Bought it today, so have literally no experience flying it. Will fly it soon and see how it goes. Great bit of kit though and an absolute bargain, considering all the stuff you get. Really impressive build quality and it's reassuringly heavy. Watching the gimbal move is almost mesmerising. I've had a few other RC things over the years, such as a mini helicopter and a flying bat thing, but none are really worth mentioning in detail. Anyone else into RC stuff, or have any RC models/toys?

I found it best to hold X when I wanted to get off Trico. Or just jumping from his head or back. I did struggle to begin with though.

I hate the TV licence. We don't pay it, as we don't have a TV hooked up to an aerial. We just use ours for Netflix and YouTube. All done legit through the TV licensing website. They said they might come and inspect the property, but they haven't for almost 2 years, so I guess they're not too bothered. They wouldn't find anything anyway.

The camera is indeed abysmal. I'd say it was easily the worst of this generation (and maybe previous too). Most 3rd person cameras seem to zoom in when in tight spaces, but LGs seems to just reset to wherever there is space. It literally fades to black and the camera "respawns" into space. To see what I mean, try standing close to a wall and try to get the camera between the character and the wall. It's impossible. Not great when some parts of the level can be quite claustrophobic. The controls aren't too bad. They're not great, but manageable. They just add more frustration to the already infuriating camera.
-
Just started playing this and I'm really starting to understand the complaints. The camera is awful, especially in tighter areas. There have been quite a few times where I've wanted to look at something, only to have the camera switch back to looking in front. Plus there's something very odd about the way the camera moves. I can't quite explain it, but it's almost like it's not "attached" to your character properly. Very odd. The controls aren't too bad, but they can be fussy. I notice it most when trying to climb Trico or get through a tight section. From what I remember, they're similar to SOTC, but the difference here is that the levels are much tighter than SOTC's wide open areas, so they don't work as well. Whilst the level design is very nice and has some clever bits, it can be almost impossible to tell where to go next. I don't mind the game not holding my hand with obvious hints, but when so much of the progression hangs on Trico and his fickleness, it can be very frustrating not knowing where to go.

It's ridiculous. Sony (and possibly Microsoft) do it too* and it always makes me wonder who is actually buying the games digitally for that price. Surely no one. *Thought I'd get in there before Ronnie. Trololol etc.

That's an awesome story. I used to be into Urbex a few years ago and I'd love to explore that place. Not sure I'd do it though, as old boats terrify me for some reason. Maybe because they don't have foundations and I always worry they could tip.

Pure gaming, obviously.

Since this thread hasn't received any love recently. I have no idea what came over me, but I'm proud none the less:

Because it's all about the illusion of scarcity. People now think it will be hard to get hold of at launch (people holding multiple preorders for example), so it doesn't actually matter if it is scarce. The public opinion is that it is, creating a sense of urgency to snap up any stock that does become available. It's simple: Release limited numbers to preorders to make it scarce. Wait a few weeks to build a reputation as hard to get hold of. Release loads more and watch people clamber to get hold of one, thinking they might not get another chance It's cynical, but it works.
-
To be fair, limiting stock to increase demand is a pretty well known marketing tactic. How many people do you think are keeping hold of/placing preorders because they think they probably won't be able to get one around launch unless they do? How to use scarcity and urgency to increase sales

But, but... Their branch in Edinburgh has a million in cash on display. That's just the kind of arrogance that reassures an investor such as myself. I am aware that it's not in their branch, but it's money in Scotland, near a castle so it's close enough.

I'll return it when you give me the £170 I paid some guy in Leeds for it.

Same here. I love rally games, but hate all the gymkhana/Ken Block/Hoonigan shit. Drifting round a bunch of cones is nowhere near as fun as sliding through narrow roads, where a mistake sends you slamming through a forest. I like Dirt Rally and think it's a shame it didn't get more attention. I only became aware of it due to it being in a sale. It is a bit on the difficult side, and there isn't much in the way of actual content, but it's a great game, which hopefully they can take aspects of for Dirt 4.

That makes sense then. Cheers guys. It does mean that my shares are accurate and I'm £500 down. Balls. It was set up with money I was prepared to lose though, so no huge deal. Which leads me on to my next question. Should I keep them, or sell them? My thoughts so far: Reasons to Sell It costs me £30-£40 to keep the account open I don't fully understand the risks/how it works (for example, stock consolidation) I've already lost £500/50%, they would have to double in value for me to break even They were worth £300 at some point, so they have increased in value in the past year or two, so wouldn't be a terrible time to cut my losses I have something I'd like to spend the money on I only have 206 shares, so if they continue to lose value and they consolidate, I could end up with very few shares.* Reasons to Keep Them If they go back to pre-recession levels, they could be worth about £14,000 (Very loose maths here)** The thing I'd like to spend the money on could be seen as frivolous It was only ever set up as a long term investment, with money I could afford to lose *If my very limited understanding is correct. I have no idea how likely this is **I would assume they'd eventually return to pre-recession levels, my worry is that this won't happen in my lifetime.

I have a bit of an odd situation with my share dealing account with Lloyds. I bought 2069 shares in RBS way back in 2009, but for some reason, I only have 206 now showing in my account. Now the fact that the first 3 digits match make me think it's an error. Is there any way that I could have lost shares? Part of me thinks that they have been taking the admin fee from my shares instead of my nominated account, but payments seem to have been coming out ok. I'm really hoping that it's an admin error that can be rectified, as my shares have quadrupled in value, turning my £1,000 investment into £4,000. I'm going to call them tomorrow to sort it out, just wondering what you guys think in the mean time.

By a later date, I mean as soon as I'm done with The Witcher Blood and Wine DLC. It won't come down much in that time, given that £24 is cheaper than most places and it only came out a month or two ago.
