  1. The Order was pretty damn good looking. Shame about the rest of the game really. My favourites have been: Mass Effect Andromeda - It's not consistently great looking, but some of the in game cutscenes have amazing lighting. Resident Evil 7 - The best looking horror game IMO. The Last of Us - Looked stunning on PS3, I can only imagine it's better on PS4. Until Dawn - Not quite as good as RE7, but still pretty good.
  2. Took the drone out again today with Happenstance. It was too windy to go high, but I did get to test out the point of interest mode (which circles a set point). It wasn't the smoothest, but I blame the wind.
  3. Me and @Happenstance. #dronelads
  4. I maybe buy one game a month, if that. I just don't have the time or money to game like I used to.
  5. Handed my notice in today. My manager and the general manager took it well. Still haven't spoken to the company owner yet, so we'll see how that goes. The single remaining person in the department is also now looking for another job and I'm fairly certain he's got one lined up. Interesting times.
  6. I wouldn't say it is. In both scenarios, the victims have absolutely no chance to defend themselves. Running people down from the safety of your car is cowardice. As is stabbing an unarmed police officer. Maybe there is and they had enough evidence to finally bring him in, causing him to panic and execute this attack in a desperate move. It certainly wasn't a thoroughly planned out attack. The fact is, none of us know what was known about the guy beforehand, or what the police were planning. One thing I do know, is that the police are humans too and are just as sickened by it as the rest of us. I have every faith they did (and still do) everything in their power to prevent this sort of thing. Remember, we don't always hear about the successful preventions of terror attacks, but we always know about the failures.
  7. I keep thinking about Horizon, but I just don't like the setting. Tribal stuff never really interested me. I probably will get it when I have less games to play, at which point it'll hopefully be cheaper. It's on my "to buy" list though.
  8. I'll still get it launch day, assuming I can get to a store that sells it. If not, Saturday. I just worry that it'll end up like a lot of other open world games that have been released recently (FF15, I'm looking at you specifically). There seems to be a few games that have disappointed me by feeling almost MMORPG-like, in that there's a tonne of quests that form the main "story", but they're all really shallow and not really related to each other. Dragon Age Inquisition was bad for this as , IIRC, you had to complete a bunch of dull side/fetch quests to gather enough influence to unlock the next story quest. For me, side quests should be just that: side quests. Not necessary to progress the plot, but a nice distraction or a tool to level up if needed between main quests. FF15, Dragon Age Inquisition and Fallout 4 have all been open world RPGs that are massively disappointing and all for the same reasons: shallow, dull story missions and I worry ME:A will be the same. Aside from Witcher 3, I honestly can't remember the last open world RPG that I've enjoyed. I'll still buy it though, as I really want to play a decent RPG and I loved the first 3.
  9. I got a formal job offer from the new place, which I have responded to with a couple of questions. First was just about some holidays I have booked and the second was about the 3 month review. I basically asked what criteria I would have to meet in the trial period and what the scope would be for salary renegotiation, to ensure I could meet expectations and that neither of us would be disappointed after the 3 months. Now, I wait... Also, a bit of total schadenfreude for me, a colleague has handed his 1 week notice in today (he was fresh out of his apprenticeship, but has been doing the work of a full time employee since he started), which has totally thrown a spanner in the works for our department. Everyone was stressing out and saying how screwed everything is. Can't wait to see what the reaction is when/if I hand my notice in, which will most likely be this week. The department is totally screwed, with every single person either leaving or planning to and it's all their fault for treating people like shit (one of the owners literally said to 3 of us "You're nothing but money to me"). If I hand my notice in, there will be 1 person left, whereas a month ago we had 5.
  10. Who the fuck is Golfer?
  11. Well, the caveman post seems unusual now that the bot's post has been deleted. We done a Sexy Thumbsticks (2nd part up tomorrow):
  12. Just finished Iron Fist and it was a bit meh. Better than Luke Cage IMO, but not great. It was all a bit vague, with no clear "bad guy" until the end, at which point it kind of fizzled out in an episode or two. I seem to remember Daredevil building characters (good and bad) much better and spending longer on plot points. I guess that's the advantage of 2 seasons though.
  13. Had an interview and I've pretty much been offered the job. Just waiting on getting the offer in writing. I'm just not sure I want it. Maybe I'm just wary of moving jobs (I've been in my current job for about 8 years now). Some factoids: -My current job is utter arse. Total joke of a place. Also pays peanuts. But I do know the place well and can work in most departments. -When I took on my most recent role there, I was promised a pay rise after 6 months. Didn't get it, as the company just made some redundancies/restructuring. Understandable, and my job is totally safe (I'm probably the most multiskilled person in the building). What I do object to, however, is that someone who was hired at the same time I took my new role (and does the same job I do) got his pay review/rise after 3 months and now gets paid more than me. Reminder: I've been there 8 years. He's been there 1. I even have the extra skill of designer, as he is totally production. -The director might actually be insane. Like completely unhinged when it comes to business decisions. Luckily, the rest of the team make up for it. -If I stay, there's basically only 2 outcomes: Stay in the production department (which includes some design work) and hate everything, but maybe progress to manager (which I don't want, but do want the money) or go back to the design department and never progress at all, ever. Some factoids for the new place: -Twice the travel (40 mins as opposed to 20). Not a huge deal, but more expense. -Pays more. Possibly enough to cover the extra travel but I'm not sure. Possibility of negotiating higher wage after 3 month trial. -Half hour less per day (9-5 as opposed to 8:30-5). -Smaller overall team, with me working in a team of 3. I'd be the main designer, with 2 artworkers. Haven't met the team, so can't comment on them. One of them has been working there 12 years though, so that's a good sign. -Very small place and not the most comfortable working environment. Can't be worse than my current place though. Plus the boss seems quite nice (don't they all in interviews though?). -They work on Macs, whereas I'm used to PCs. I'm happy to use either, but am very inexperienced with Macs, which has been a hurdle in previous interviews. The fact that they don't seem to care that I'll have to learn to use Macs is a great. Even if I don't end up staying long, it will give me experience working on a Mac. My only real reservation is that from what I saw, it has the potential to be just as busy and shit as my current place. It can't be that bad though, as my interview was after hours (due to the place being tiny) and everyone did seem to go home on time. I also worry that the wages discussion after 3 months will be non-existent/fruitless and I'll be stuck in a similar situation to what I'm in now. I think I'll need to press the wages matter a bit and see if I can get a figure for after 3 months, even if I have to ask for a list of criteria that I'll need to meet to ensure a raise.
  14. No Pat Sharp? You fucking disgust me.
  15. How to be further? That's a big question. Join a gym, take some classes or join a club?
  16. Oh cool, the RC account I set up seems to be working.
  17. I used the one that has the sticky foam tape on. Stuck a little too well and it took ages to get the bloody thing off.
  18. I played Arms. It was meh.
  19. Not technically RC stuff (although it can be controlled by a phone), I got a knock-off GoPro for £45 and it's actually not bad for such a cheap camera, especially since it came with virtually every accessory and mount I could ever need. Also, since it's cheap, I don't have to worry about it falling off when I mount it to stuff. I did some test footage on my car a while back. Image quality isn't great, although the "vintage" grading doesn't help. It looks a bit better with natural colours:
  20. At this point, I'm fairly sure he's just abnormally specific Lorem Impsum
  21. Took the Phantom back to Argos and got a replacement and the new one is much clearer. Also, took it to 99 metres high, a new record for me:
  22. Fuss row door or whatever.
  23. Why in shitting hell is everyone talking like an Elder Scrolls NPC?
  24. Took the drone out again today. I'm not sure why, but the footage seems really blurry compared to last time. I've seen on the forums that the camera board can sometimes need adjustment, so I'm tempted to send it back to be calibrated. It should be covered under the warranty. The footage:
  25. I don't think they've updated their website etc yet, but I did find a comment on a post that said it's an extra £5 for floor 2 (the new floor), so £15 for both floors. Still pretty amazing value IMO. Can't comment on whether the second floor is worth the extra £5, but from what we saw of it during the marathon, it's just as big as the main floor (possibly a better layout too) and definitely had the potential to be just as amazing as upstairs. I'd give it a go.
