  1. Exactly. The amount of money it takes to make blockbuster games is obsene. Going back to the N64, it's innovation was taking us to polygonal gaming. The Gamecube then consolidated this with more power/ nicer graphics and sound. Where were Nintendo meant to go next? More power again and again? Personally, I think they did the right thing going with the DS (third pillar) and Wii. Sure they infuriate with their archaic ways but the fact that Nintendo strive to keep it fresh and are willing to experiment is what keeps us interested and what keeps it fun for us, and them, as the developer.
  2. When you see a Pokémon from an opposition trainer it fills in the area data in the Pokédex, no? Then, when you eventually catch one it fills in the description. It's been since like '98, man. :p Download it on 3DS and check already.
  3. That's what I did seeing as the Pokédex said that was the area to catch a Pikachu. I'll have the cake please.
  4. I downloaded them yonks ago during a previous sale. Pretty sure I started Oracle of Seasons (I think I read it was better to start with) but after whatever else I was playing at the time, it felt a bit sluggish to play a GBC Zelda. Must return!
  5. The 3DS remake is the best way to re-enjoy OoT.
  6. Thank you Eder. Six points and relax.
  7. Reminds me a bit of Fantasy Life.
  8. Conte said before the tournament that he has a bad pool of players to pick from and the only chance they have of doing anything will be pure team spirit and playing above their level as a group. Playing the Juve defence together worked a treat - just get it right at the back and then see what happens. Sky Italia were singing Bonucci's praises afterwards. In their group preview James Richardson and co made a case for Italy going through with five points which looks like a possibility now. (They will still crash out in the last eight...)
  9. I've boxes and boxes of NMS/ONM/NOM (whatever incarnations it went through). I don't think there's anything else to do with them except keep them at this point?
  10. “Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” All the best for this, Retro.
  11. Yeah come on, after the success of the Treehouse stream before they weren't gonna just drop it entirely.
  12. Ditto. But just get released already. It's been years.
  13. Definitely worth giving the demo a chance.
  14. Just brainstorming. The Night Club level on GoldenEye on the Wii! The music in SSX 3 was a good fit. Ten Eighty on the GC too with that Cauterise band - I actually gave them a Google back in the day. There's good tunes put to good use in Elite Beat Agents and Bunnies Just Wanna Have Fun and Miserlou in Rayman Raving Rabbids were great fun to play to (imo). Did Unirally have Thin Lizzy or just a tune that was pretty similar? I think, on reflection, my Excite Truck had the best licensed music of any game to date.
  15. I've never been a fan of solitaire so was giving this game a miss until a few weekends ago I spotted @Hero\-of\-Time on my friends list playing the full game. I figured if he's forked out for the full game I can atleast check out the demo. I fired through the demo twice and seeing as I still wanted more, I got the game. It's incredibly addictive. I'll be scanning in these horses the next time I'm playing - gotta get em all, right? I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between Growth Mode and Mature Mode (the horses ages, yes) but I'll figure out the finer details and min-max my horses as time goes on. I know there really shouldn't be any slowdown either but I love it when it happens. It makes it feel all the more intense to think the 3DS can barely keep up with the final corner chaos of runaway horses and horse enthusiasm levels skyrocketing for the home straight! Especially with the music.
  16. Pretty much any genre will do. It just has to draw you in.
  17. I cannot believe they are incapable of getting SNES games running acceptably on a normal 3DS. I just want to play the DKC trilogy on the go.
  18. I finished ALBW the other night. It was great - I fully recommend that @Blade and @King_V get playing. I've mulled it over for a few days and it has got to be up there with the best Zelda has to offer. Going back to the ALttP world feels great, just swinging the sword and cutting grass or killing soldiers feels great and there's enough things that are different to keep it from being a complete retread of a game we all already know inside and out. I never died once and never bought any potions as it was enough to have a fairy and be careful but that doesn't mean the game is really straightforward. The baseball mini-game was probably one of the most difficult things to get a feel for. Anyway, to be honest, ALttP isn't difficult either until Ganon's Tower. I'm pretty sure there isn't much I can add that hasn't been said already over the intervening years since ALBW released. I shouldn't have de-prioritised it but better late than never, right? At the end I was glad to see their Triforce wish was the same as what I wanted. As I was watching the ending unfold I was worried the writers had overlooked something...!
  19. I've been in the mood for replaying OoT (perhaps in Master Quest) or starting a new file in LttP but then I saw ALBW has been added to the Nintendo Selects range so... there was only one thing to do. The game is fantastic. The merge ability makes you think about things differently and has thrown me a few times. I spent the first while just going round Hyrule and checking in with everyone to see how they were doing since LttP. Anyway, what I wanted to say was, yes, the levels are easy and systematic (you just need to adapt your thinking to incorporate the merge ability) so I've cleaned out every level in no time except the last two I've done. Turtle Rock and the Dark Palace. Turtle Rock I came out of with surplus keys and no compass and no item collected bar the sage. So I went back in and combed through room by room. Then again in the Dark Palace, I came out with no item. One level remains - I'm not sure what it's called because it should be Turtle Rock except Turtle Rock was where the Ice Palace should have been so... well, I'm curious to see if I'll be able to run through it and grab everything or if I've lost that knack for the remainder of the game.
  20. I didn't know what game you were talking about from 17 years ago. Could have been Lamborghini Challenge or anything. (There was the Corolla and a few other cars in GT64, yes.) As for my Dragon Quest comment, different fans want different things. Some want driving games, some want Japanese games localised in English, others want other things. Nor was it totally left field for me to cite DQ as there have been alot of the DQ games released on iOS. They actually added party chat into DQ IV which was absent from the English DS translation so, imagine if S-E went the whole hog for Apple and translated the 3DS version of DQ VII in its entirety and released it on iOS. I (and other 3DS owners) would be wondering what Nintendo were up to if that came to pass - especially as they, under Iwata, published DQ IX in the west and it seemed like they would continue to make the series available to us westerners.
  21. I'd forgotten about the grottoes in Dragon Quest IX. You'll love EMD, Grazza. I haven't had a chance to nip to the shop today but will be making the effort over the weekend. I hope there is still a chance they will add screenshot integration to Miiverse - I see someone posted on there that the Japanese version has the capability.
  22. Seventeen years? It feels like yesterday I was snoozing round GT 64. Some Nintendo fans are also waiting patiently for Dragon Quest VII on the 3DS to be translated to English. Have Apple got that deal stitched up? If so then, and only then, will it be Corpse of Steve Jobs 1-0 Corpse of Iwata.
  23. Did no one else feel bad for Mewtwo at the end? Yes, I knew this reminded me of something! The closest I could get before seeing your post was the Denpa Men.
  24. Yes but you playing a game means you finishing a game. Its rare for you to cry off. You just gotta beat on your party to strengthen them. Remember, I did it twice (plus the post game which was really difficult at the start, before assembling a full party!) so you can do it once. Sure, its a strange game by todays conventions but I like it nonetheless... and you should too.
