  1. A search revealed there is no thread for this despite us having one for the initial entry in the series. As @londragon posted in his weekly updates in the 3DS eShop Thread, Senran Kagura 2 is out this weekend. Developer: Tamsoft Genre(s): Beat-'Em-Up Rating: M Price: €29.99 / £24.99 Metacritic @Grazza @khilafah, come on in. : peace:
  2. Och, I'm sure it'll be rounded up to a nice even £100k.
  3. You know Namco helped Sora with this version of Smash but you 'don't even know who Shovel Knight is'? Oh dear. They should get Toki Tori and/ or Scrooge McDuck added in when they are at it.
  4. Shiren the Wanderer is great. I'm just basing my assumptions off how it works. As we know, Etrian Odyssey doesn't hold back when it comes to difficulty so I doubt EMD will be dumbed down. They could have added shops to buy gear - we shall see. (I haven't read too heavily up on EMD - I'd rather get stuck into it for myself.) Casual. Again, casual. Shiren is great. Yes, its punishing but not unfairly so, imo. There are things in Shiren that persist between runs and reverting to level 1 doesn't make anything impossible because the floors are balanced out to be progressively more difficult to match you starting at level 1. How do the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games deal with things? I've played none of them, but from what I read they seem to be kiddy games. I have Izuna for the DS which is okay.
  5. Tease me about it but not in the DQ VII thread. Has thee no shame.
  6. Boo I thought they'd all go for a comedy 3/10.
  7. Hmm, I'd say its very unlike EO but then. In Shiren the Wanderer (which as far as I know, is the 'vanilla' Mystery Dungeon game) nothing is persistent. Well, next to nothing. You head into these randomly generated floors with nothing except a hunger item if you choose to get it, and you are at the mercy of the game from there on. You pick up whatever weapons are lying around and push through as many floors as you can. Upon dying, you are sent back to the the first town, back to level 1 and your inventory emptied. The only thing that isn't wiped out is your knowledge of why you died. So you can head back out again, armed with that intel and try to push a bit further through a new assortment of randomly generated floors. The entire game is turn based by the way. Every square you move is a turn, every action you carry out is a turn. So, if you stand on the spot, the enemies will remain static too until you make a move. If and when you find yourself in a pickle, you can sit and look at it and go through your inventory until you are finally ready to try something. Shiren isn't 25 floors of endless dungeon. It is divided with a few villages to break it up. Over time the course of time, its in the villages where you can make a difference. Talk to the villagers and help them and they will help you with item upgrades and warehouses so you can store items to pick up on future runs. You can also collect sidekicks who will improve the more times you find them. There was also an online option where if you fall in the dungeon, you can opt to lie there and hope someone comes to revive you. Check this out, it says everything better than I can. Actually, I should have looked already to see what Jeremy Parish had to say about Etrian Mystery Dungeon seeing as its out Stateside. Thinking about Shiren and how the formula might be applied and reskinned with Etrian might just have been a waste of time. http://www.usgamer.net/articles/etrian-mystery-dungeon-3ds-review-terror-from-the-deep Reading his entire review, it appears that EMD is its own beast and not just a reskinned Shiren clone.
  8. Ok you got me to Google this. Thought it was an Art Academy spin off of the Atelier series.
  9. Haha, please. I'm just thinking about it from their point of view. Anyone but (Man) United and all that.
  10. Pity you never played Shiren. Its a great game, honestly. Have you played any Mystery Dungeon or roguelike games? They aren't the sort of games you can brute force, they make you think around lots of problems. You have to learn to be zen about item hoarding and come to embrace the idea of using items when you need them. When you die its goodnight Vienna for your level and item stash (though there are some persistent things) so you take a deep breath, think what you learned and go again. There should so have been a Wii U Etrian Odyssey by now. PS @\-Dem0\- @Ike @Rummy any chance of changing the thread title?
  11. There's a couple of reviews out there in the wild. Nintendo World Report rating this a 6/10, with it maybe being too retro in the sense that it adhere's to the more annoying trappings of NES era RPGs. Theres also Nintendo Life (8/10) which is worth a read. And check out this snowman:
  12. I watched it and thought from the Newcastle point of view it was tremendous - they defended great. Before kick off how many people expected them to get anything from the match? It was pretty much McClaren's only option. Did you see Newcastle in pre-season? They can barely string two passes together - very much a work in progress. For them to have got a point off Southampton and now you lot is massive.

To save a triple post in the thread. : peace:
  14. I've been giving this piece by Jeremy París a skim. Appears to be a pretty level headed look at what could have been. http://www.usgamer.net/articles/mercurysteammetroid-an-opportunity-lost-or-a-bullet-dodged
  15. Just came to this bit and thought of you. Took the Napdragon down just before doing some Bliss quests (which took me to the lighthouse above). I had two NPCs with me but my main character was only in the low level 30's compared to you doing it at lvl 40. I used several healing and SP recovery items but got there in the end. Took about one in game day, so it was strangely epic to battle through as the countryside went from day time greens, to evening oranges to night time navy. The bad thing was I'd already got the sword that the Napdragon dropped as bounty! On the point of NPCs and bounty, how annoying is it when they inadvertently destroy your bounty with a magic spell. Roselyn or someone scuppered my bounty hauls a couple of times. Great post. I thought Farmer was still in the game, what with all the farm land and everything. When I couldn't see it I just figured it was shifted to the DLC. I've been putting furthering my Life as a cook until getting the farmer Life. Being a postman would be hilarious.
  16. Aww thanks. Where do you live thats such a hotbed of Streetpasses?
  17. Can't Mii Plaza be posted to Miiverse? Anyway: 100!!
  18. I accidentally clicked on one of Grazza's pic when skimming down and did you know the pic opens in a pop-up window where you can give it a Yeah! if you want? Pretty nifty. The only way you play without crashing is by dropping it to 0* difficulty. I'll have a tinker with the equaliser based on what you say. It seems like you can min max it in pretty much any combination and it still sounds decent!
  19. Hey, it looks like none of us are good at keeping up to date with our messages. How's things? What you playing these days?

  20. Prime? I finished it one wintery Saturday several years ago. I remember picking my GBA Micro up as soon as the credits finished to play a quick bit of Chu Chu Rocket to cleanse the pallet. I did go back after a while and start a new file with the fusion suit.

I remember the exact moment my backlog came into existence. One Christmas (I could also have been eleven!) I got FOUR Snes games and I've been playing catch up ever since. Pop n Twinbee, Cybernator, Mickey Mania and Buster Busts Loose.

What about the Dark Tower? Have you still got that edition of Wizard and Glass knocking about?? How is Animal Crossing going? I didn't get it for the 3DS (though I've been tempted) but the DS and Wii ones consumed a lot of time. Don't suppose you have Fantasy Life?

  21. Happy birthday! Forever indebted to you for the Tower SP bargain.
