I'm really liking the strong horror element they're running with here, really really looking forward to this and I wasn't even a major Tomb Raider fan back in the day. It's refreshing to see a female protagonist get really cut-up & dirty. Oh, go back to your Nathan Drake yaoi and leave the rest of us to enjoy ourselves.

I find it impossible to credit that extra-terrestrial life doesn't exist somewhere, possibly inside our own solar system, but if we'll ever find any of it or not is an open question. I'm thinking all we'll ever find are single cell organisms, the universe may be too vast for even advanced civilisations to start hooking up (and we are not an advanced civilisation on that scale, not even close). I don't believe we have contacted (or been contacted by) any other world civilisations yet. If we ever do encounter any that are even vaguely comprehensible in any way to us then I will have to personally conclude that the universe isn't even a fraction in size, scope or variety to what I hoped or suspected.

I hate that trailer and if you like that trailer you are part of a problem, the problem, and a whole host of other problems around at the moment. I mean, just no. Just fucking no. Wrong time, wrong place, wrong bloody idea.

Ordered a laptop from Dell as a gift from me to me, god dammit I ended up spending half the day back and forward with a (admittedly very patient) customer sales rep because the payment instruction wasn't even getting through to the blasted bank for no discernible reason. It's that weird situation when you're desperately trying to give your money to someone who wants to take it but can't because the system you're both stuck in has decided it can't be bothered. Think I managed to send it through manually. I hope so. I know I'm out £470 to somebody. #firstworldproblems

Had to dig this read up to say I've finally reached the end of American Appetites by Joyce Carol Oates, and it's a work of impeccable observation and biting social satire. I read slow but this took even longer thanks to how brilliantly discomforting way the scenes play out as the central character slides deeper and deeper into a passively destructive malaise. I didn't realise exactly what the book was telling me until the final two paragraphs and I'm quite prepared to believe this is deliberate. It's the first JCO novel I've read and on the basis of this her reputation as a modern genius is both well deserved and not celebrated enough.

After all of that it's amazing to really look at the leaderboard with the top 6 still within a single race win, and numbers 7-11 within another. People are saying F1 has become too unpredictable but I am starting think the front four teams are genuinely that close to one another with the midfielders not far off, every minor miscalculation throwing everything into the air. I think we'll get a good idea of how everything will shake itself out in the end at Silverstone but it's still amazing there's still so little between them. Might go put a fiver on Nico for the championship actually.

Cracking weather. This afternoon shall be spent in the garden with a good book I think.

Can I just how delighted I was by the sneak-peek at Ron Howard's Rush. Fantastic cast line up and Ron can do both period & auto movies really, really well so I cannot wait to see that in theaters. Going to be fantastic. I don't support Schumi but I still cheered and pumped my fist when he pulled that lap time out of the bag, pity he doesn't get the pole. For tomorrow I reckon Nico will break the run of different winners but I'd love to be proven wrong. I quite like Mark but I'm not sure of the Red Bull's race pace.

Buzz is for the Lotus cars to head the pack, certainly looks like they have the pace. Still got my fingers crossed for Lewis though absolutely anything could happen over Saturday & Sunday, rain or no rain. Odds on six different race winners out of six are looking good.

I sat down at about 10am this morning with a nearly finished essay, due tomorrow morning - simply in need of a few references, a bibliography and an extra proof-read - with the aim of knocking it out of the park before lunch. It's now 0.35 am and I've done something close to dick all on it, with any kind of sleep looking increasingly unlikely. I have however seen more Tumblr & Hentai Foundry in the last fourteen hours then I have so far this month. Because positive life choices and everything.

Hi there, just popping in to say that this is an awesome game which I've still been able to enjoy despite working 20-30+ hours a week on top of postgraduate deadlines, as well as to apologise for my relative lack of contribution in recent weeks. Luckily thanks to the convenience of the game's automatic tactical systems I've still given everybody competitive matches. So if I can do it, anybody can. Looking forward to the new season!

This has been my study music for the last few weeks - I just leave on a loop, not too loud in the background. I listen to it whenever I need to concentrate or just relax. It's like really, really excellent elevator music.

Maldonaldo & Williams win, Red Bull ahead, Lewis fights but Mclaren falter, Vettel & Alonso tied 1st, Lotus up, Saubre up, Sergio out, Schmui & Senna crash out, everything is beautiful and painful and historic and nobody knows WTF is going on. I'll be back when I can express myself without Tumblr. EDIT: Holy shit, huge fire in the Williams garage. EDIT: Looks like no serious injuries but still, holy mother.
