What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
gaggle64 replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
This has been my study music for the last few weeks - I just leave on a loop, not too loud in the background. I listen to it whenever I need to concentrate or just relax. It's like really, really excellent elevator music. -
Maldonaldo & Williams win, Red Bull ahead, Lewis fights but Mclaren falter, Vettel & Alonso tied 1st, Lotus up, Saubre up, Sergio out, Schmui & Senna crash out, everything is beautiful and painful and historic and nobody knows WTF is going on. I'll be back when I can express myself without Tumblr. EDIT: Holy shit, huge fire in the Williams garage. EDIT: Looks like no serious injuries but still, holy mother.

Mclaren. Mclaren. What is the point? What is the point of having a driver seriously gunning for multiple championships if you're going to keep doing this? Because, Mclaren, you keep doing this, with your crazy tire startegies and fuel miscalculations and pit men who can't pin a wheel and fuel crews who can't manage a hosepipe properly. As it is your man went out and consistently delivered three of the very best laps, far better then anyone else could manage, and for all that he'll be starting in only a slightly better position then if hadn't even bothered getting up that morning. The other teams don't do this as much as you do. The back markers don't do this even half as much. HRT have a better not-fucking-up rate at this point. You've been at this game long enough. You know how things need to be done. Get your collective shit together. Just leave for Red Bull already Lewis. At least you'll get free energy drinks there - and maybe a pit crew that knows it's own damn job.

29 Star Fox 64 Quotes that work in the bedroom
gaggle64 replied to flameboy's topic in General Chit Chat
*Look at the bill* "That's a bit steep - but it's worth it!" Admittedly this one will only make sense with a certain kind of partner. @martinist's ma' for example. -
Happy birthday to our cunning linguist!

Hell yeah, girls love a man with many tongues. Happy Birthday! -
I work in the foodstore next to the university, so for 6.25 an hour I get to spend 6-8 hours a day tolerating the sense of entitlement that hasn't been ground out of people yet. I think you haven't gotten a real sense of the division in the world until you've watched somebody in snow hat & shorts rifling through cans of Monster trying to find one that's the "right" temperature, then seeing some poor bastard settling down in a tatty sleeping bag for a rainy night in the entrance to Topshop on your way home (true story). I work with a throughly decent bunch of people luckily - that really makes a world of difference in this sort of work. One point of interest - you get a good overview of what's happening in the "youth" fashion world. Remember those bizarre tight & loose trousers everyone was wearing six months ago? Those seemed like a really good idea for all of 5 minutes didn't they? Abercrombie & Fitch will probably just blink out of existence before the end of the summer.

Why yes. Yes I do have university deadlines bearing down on me. Why do you ask?

I don't know how much this is going to mean to everybody else but I'm sure there will be others who will be as saddened as I am by the news that Adam Yauch, aka MCA of the Beastie Boys has died at the age of 47 after a 3 year battle with cancer. It goes without saying that together the Beastie Boys have produced music that's inspired and entertained multiple generations of people. I'm not even a major music fan but their 2004 album To The 5 Boroughs is my soundtrack to that small but important period in life, when I finally barreled out of school and made the first steps towards piecing together my own self. So RIP MCA. Your talent will be deeply and sorely missed.

Is it wrong I am redukulously excited for the sequel to a game I've never even played? I wanted to play it when it first came out and I still want to but never had the hardware/money. All I know is it's a WW2 RTS by Relic in the vein of the excellent, magnificent Dawn of War but that alone has always excited me. It'll probably be another 6 years after this one's release before I play it, but good god I reckon it'd be worth it.

How the hell is this out in a couple of weeks but we have a thread for it that hasn't been posted in since mid-2009? Because this looks fucking spectacular. Actually genuinely ass-rippingly spectacular.

Dude, it's Castro. Not getting assassinated is basically his thing.

I'm... conflicted about this. I am absolutely on board with having more science-fiction action shooters, but there's no part of this that smells like somebody trying to produce that. This is more of a "our designers have come up with some cool shit, but how do we fit it in the game? Fuck it, just set in the future, now we can do anything we want!" Mainly what I hate is how far CoD has gone from it's peak with the first MW, where it deliberately and profoundly subverted its own "my country tis of thee" theme, to going all the way back around to the most basic comic-book Team America-without-the-irony plots. This is a cycle that was completed with MW3 and now it's just digging itself deeper. I reckon it'll still sell well for the multi-player though, that's what this series is now - it's a sports series. An annual one too.

Your opinion offends my childhood. What that video displays is a pitch-perfect rendering of what I've been waiting for since "HD gaming" became a used phrase. What we have on the 3DS is, frankly, the lesser of the two great Starfox games. And yes, the music is awesome.

June 1st. Pencil that one in somewhere.

No. No I don't care. I don't care if it takes all night, if I have to drink coffee until I'm pissing blood or even if I have to go out and hunt down a sworn enemy so I can take their strength by devouring their heart, again. I am going to finish this essay draft. I've been doing nothing but staring at it all day and haven't written a bloody thing. I'm only 800 words shy for the love of fuck.

My internet's been slow too.

I've decided I'm just not going to tune into the race this weekend. I'm working tomorrow, and for the first time I'm glad. I hate what this whole farce is doing to the image of the sport. There are people being suppressed, brutalised and allegedly even killed not far from the circuit gates. It's bad enough the GP is going ahead. It's worse those in charge expect everyone to twiddle our thumbs like none of this needs to be more seriously and openly addressed. It's my birthday today. I want to come home from my shift, sit on the sofa and play the full race from the Iplayer and enjoy myself for a couple of hours, even if it's just another dull Bahrain GP. This isn't a protest, that wouldn't make any difference. But I'd like to get through the day without feeling hopelessly uncomfortable about the democratic rights of a nation of people thousands of miles away just to watch some sport. That's not a judgment on anyone who does choose to watch and (hopefully) enjoy the race. I just won't be able to do that. The whole situation is bullshit. Pure bullshit, deceit and half-truths wrapped in the politics of money at the expense of people's lives. If somebody - anybody - in power in F1 dared to even acknowledge that, maybe I wouldn't feel so angry. Instead everyone's decided to put a brave face on or simply look away and not say anything. I've watched F1 my whole life and I quite honestly can't remember feeling so disgusted by it. Rant over. See you when Spain rolls around - if I can get the taste of bullshit out of my mouth.

Finally got to the end of this thing. I very much liked the ending, though I completely understand how it threw a lot of people the wrong way.

Tumblr did this to you, didn't it?

Seriously though, how does that happen?

I wouldn't blame him. If that had happened to Lewis I'd be halfway down a bottle of scotch before the podium ceremony had started.

That was fucking awesome. A slow burner right until the final 15 laps when everyone's strategies played out and they were just non-stop whaling on each other from 2nd to 16th. Britney was peerless and was free to scoot off into the distance while the rest were going hammer and tongs. Bad luck for Schumi, Red Bull I think probably made the best once again from their starting positions. Another 3rd for Lewis, got caught in traffic but a positive finish from 7th to finish top the points table. Button's 2nd makes Mclaren looking a shoe-in for the constructors already. Kimi's last 6 laps were horrible, they should have brought him in - leaving him out after his tyres were gone was never going to achieve anything. And to show what great race and a crazy year it promises to be, Kamui Kobyashi made the fastest lap of the entire race. 3 races in and everything still all over the place.
