Needed to dig this thread up for some amazing videos - including a pair of biographical animations. One about astronaut Ronald McNair, the 2nd African-American in space and one of the victims of the tragic Challenger explosion. And here's astronaut Jerry Carr, commander of Skylab 4 and one of the longest serving astronauts. And finally here's a vision of the future for the Voyager space probes (both soon to hit true interstellar space.) It's an artistic and not a scientific vision, but I like the suggestion that perhaps one day our inter-stellar space probes could be the only evidence that humanity and even our entire solar system ever existed at all. You'll wanna fullscreen and break out the headphones for this one.

I admit, of all the things I've ever questioned, I didn't stop to ask about this.

Went to a work night out, hoping for a friendly and slightly tipsy evening. Ended up sitting on a doorstep on a freezing night having to console one of a young (very very drunk & dressed like Sid Vicious) colleague who's trying to escape his alcoholic parents. I offered to help him pull it together, push for more hours for him at the store and find a place. Because I don't have enough on my plate n'all. Pitched him off in a awful sorry state to somebody else trustworthy and left at midnight because I have another late shift today. Passed a young couple standing either side of the main road through the city, screaming at each other while he tried to flag down a taxi (instead of calling one) at a place where stopping would almost guarantee a lethal collision. She was waving some kind of big pie around for some reason. I don't feel so much like a member of this species, more something set here to observe it.

I kind of like it in it's comic book-techno sort of way. Suits him really.

Since I've been looking for a better job it seemed appropriate to have somewhere to dump thoughts and progress, I figured others will be wanting a place to do so for the year especially in our age of recession and austerity and yadda-yadda-yadda. Who knows, maybe someone's working life here isn't terrible and might want to brag about that sweet promotion to second assistant manager of the 9th floor. Anyway, did take a potshot at the most basic office job I could find, but no dice. Wasn't expecting it, problem all office jobs demand experience anyway. Probably need to get via a trainer/recruitment agency. No worries. Something to consider pursuing more thoroughly. In the mean time there's an almost identical job to go for in a different store, but hopefully they won't run me into the ground like my current manager is doing. Also an assistant manager position in a charity outlet could prove fruitful, gonna put in for that on the off chance.

I discovered today that I might have more job training I have to go travel to attend that I either missed or is coming up very shortly because my manager never bothered to tell me. A minor thing in itself but indicative of having a job where nobody tells me anything ever no matter how it affects me or how it important it is. I work almost every long late shift and I usually work weekends, and always Sundays. I'm usually the only one available to work overtime out of a roster of 20-odd. I have no legitimate schedule. We're supposed to have 3 supervisors but we don't and the other supervisor keeps falling ill because he has diabetes. My manager is a dickless 23 year old who won't push back against our area manger who I've personally known for a total of two minuets and I think may be the worst person and worst manager of anything I've ever met, to the actual point of putting our store in serious danger of closure. Specific promises made to me months ago about hiring the 3rd and a mix of shifts appear to have been completely forgotten. I'm now way behind with my coursework specifically because of my job. I got so angry I burst into song.

Excellent. I shall look forward to viewing the fruits if this endeavour.

Y'know, I don't actually remember wondering about it much when I was young and I'm not sure if there was ever any specific point I lost my innocence. I think I sort of collected the knowledge from documentaries on TV and it all built up. Also high school had decent sex ed, and then internet happened.

Timo is definitely one of the sturdier drivers on the grid in my opinion. I suppose now he can go race pretty much wherever he want now, in competitive machinery without needing obscene amounts of sponsorship.

Man my head has been all over the place recently. Trying to get on with coursework & job searching but I feel like I can barely see straight. I hate days like this. So much to do and wanting to do it so little. Don't know if I should go to karate class or just start drinking now. Or both. Embrace it. It's a sign of virility.
