Ack, they're just doing that because the make-up sex is so great.

Went to see this this morning, I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable with a surprisingly thought provoking moral to chew on. I thought they handled all the character cameos well by getting them out of the way quick and getting on and whoever made the call to animate the tower residents the way they did deserves a promotion. If I've got one complaint I felt like the movie focused on the wrong character. Ralph is a fine enough protagonist but the every-man schtick is less interesting then everything else happening around it. Vanellope is very much the Han Solo to Ralph's Luke Skywalker, and I left the film wishing it'd just been about her from the very beginning. The other thought I had was related to the Paperman short shown just before. I've seen it before but it got me thinking how rare it is for anyone to make family films about adults. I feel like a lot of films are made where the characters are ostensibly 18 or so but present as if 15 and under, and it was particularly refreshing being shown next to a film like Wreck-It-Ralph. I hope someone takes a swing at something like it in the mainstream arena.

This just looks better every time I see it. The humour is perfect.

I say we take off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. -
@Eenuh your "sketches" are so fucking beautiful they cause me pain.

Met for coffee with Very Sid Vicious (who may recall from the drunk episode I posted in the bad stuff thread). We've agreed to buddy up and try move somewhere half decent, even if we're just taking up two rooms in a share, since we're both trying to get out of broadly-unpleasant places. He's never moved out by himself and needs a dude to help with the nitty-gritty, and I'm a dude who's used to the nitty-gritty and would like to live with at least one other reliable person who doesn't have the sum personality of a turd. Needs a little time to put stuff together but stuff is indeed in motion. Also he has a music hobby and currently spends some of his free time working on reggae/ska covers of Smashing Pumpkin songs, the fact of which alone makes the world a better place in my opinion.

This picture is on the Fox News website accompanying a piece about traditional gender roles. They don't seem to realise the picture is of a same sex couple. EDIT: Looks like they finally figured it out.

Adrian Newey's got retire sooner or later. Hopefully Red Bull can be out-developed by somebody this year. At least Merc seem to have sorted their reliability issues. Also, nice quote about Heikki from Lewis -

I'm on board if they just ignore the whole aliens/sun radiation/progenitors subplot. Still don't understand what the point of any of that was. Because battling for control of man's technological evolution isn't high enough stakes?

Skipping karate class tonight just from feeling so damn run down I can barely operate my limbs and feeling incredibly bad about it, I need this is my week. Silver lining is I can get some washing done and spend the next half hour doing nothing underneath a hot shower for comfort's sake. Also soup. I've got soup to consume.

Happy Birthday Ash. I shall prepare the sacrifice in your honour! -
If that's your poison, done and done.

Right, anyone for a cheeky friendly Friday?

The other day one of the guys at work told me I was his hero because I had once squared up to a couple of guys making threats in the store and made them both back down. It's the little things that keep you going.

Glad to have you in the world Ine, there'd be less joy to share without you. -
My money's on Perez if the Mclaren lives up to its early promise. Meanwhile I see people are already fighting over Lewis across the BBC live feed which, after less then 2 days of pre-season testing, has to be some kind of record. This is going to be one of these seasons isn't it?

Only rookies have anything to gain taking a roll on a backfield team, people young enough and passionate enough to take that one shot in the top flight. Experienced drivers will be off making a wage in sports cars, endurance racing, or any number of series'. Besides which giving new faces a chance is what small teams are just naturally for. Hopefully both Marussia and Caterham can keep closer to the back of the pack. I actually really respect Marussia, through all their problems they've achieved as much as Caterham has with a damn sight less. Now they've got a fully equipped car this year maybe, just maybe, they really can start making a breakthrough.

Admittedly the Blackberry sponsorship isn't a great omen but here's hoping for the best. Roll on testing!

There's mice getting in and around the kitchen. Keep walking in on them in the night. I had no fucking idea mice were so goddamn agile though. This is some hardcore parkour-Matrix shit. Gravity and friction doesn't apply to them in the same way it does to us. One dove from a high shelf onto the floor and zipped under the washing machine in less then a blink. Another bounded off three different vertical surfaces to escape. I'm not sure if we need mouse poison or kryptonite. @Daft - sorry to hear you're going through a time there. For what little it's worth though, never ever ever worry about being not being "normal". Trust me, I've met plenty of normal people. They tend to be fucking idiots.
