The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019
drahkon replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The only thing I want to see is whether this version will keep the weirdness of the original German version or be "censored" like the DX version. This is what I'm talking about: -
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019

Just seen some gameplay videos and I stand by what I said. It's gritty and surreal to me But we can stop now. It's just a matter of taste/opinion. I see, no wonder why I've never seen those before. I only own the "real" original game -
Not bad, not bad. People will be happy. I didn't like the first one for several reasons. The horrible sharing system, for example. They really need to overhaul this.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019

I wish I hadn't seen that...this is horrible It's probably the nostalgia and my experience with the game as a child but for me Link's Awakening always was and will always be surreal and gritty. This cuddly, cutesy look of the remake (and of the pictures above) just isn't for me. I agree now, though, that the art style is very faithful to what the devs intended, but in my opinion it doesn't fit the game. Hell, the style of the pictures above doesn't make any sense to me It's not what little-me was imagining back in the days. -

I'm no stranger to grinding for hours. I'll beat the shit out of you eventually -
So far, my gaming in 2019 is yet again a mishmash of 8 gazillion games and I haven't finished one. Looks like I'm in a slump again. But I do enjoy gaming right now, even though I keep switching games. I'll try to stick with the following for now, though: Apex Legends is the best Battle Royale game out there right now (sorry, Tetris99) and will keep me coming back for a long time. Other than that I mostly use my Vita right now. Downloaded a couple of games that I bought ages ago, now that I have enough storage: Crypt of the Necrodancer Amplified - the DLC finally works and it's bloody amazing. So many great additions (weapons, items, armors, characters, a new Zone with new enemies and bosses). I'm still in awe of how innovative the gameplay is. Rhythm-based-roguelike. I love it Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate - another roguelike. It's part of the Mystery Dungeon series. Haven't spent much time with it but it's very complicated. So many systems are in place...but I like it. Difficult but fair. Chasm - Metroidvania. It's ok. Backtracking is quite tedious. Not sure if I'll finish this one.

Pff, you're not even a Metal Ike. -
For towns I'd agree, but I have to disagree when it comes to the rest. For me there was always a kind of surreal atmosphere and that's missing completely in the remake. It just looks cute and in my opinion it doesn't work. Iif others like it, great. But it's not for me, sadly

Oh, the time they took for polishing this really shows. Can't wait.

After the disappointing I am Setsuna and Lost Sphear this better be good. It's also coming out to PC and PS4, by the way. Looks nice so far.

Looks good. Platinum rarely disappoints

Oh, the 16-bit version looks awesome Everyone has to buy this (and Crypt of the Necrodancer), especially @Kav. It's a perfect fit for you. -
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019

Rightly so. It doesn't fit the atmosphere of the original at all. To each their own but I really hate the art style. And I was actually really looking forward to a remake of the absolute best Zelda game there is. -
Urgh, they butchered the best Zelda game with those cutesy graphics. Horrible decision. Astral Chain looks incredible. The rest does not interest me at all. Still, apparently it's been a good direct for Switch owners. More games are always good

Downloading the Crypt of the Necrodancer DLC right now. In preparation I've been listening to its songs and goodness me...they are awesome. The synths, the tempo, the drums. Love it

Started playing Crypt of the Necrodancer again and got reminded of how awesome the soundtrack is.

25 million in one week...that is insane.

Feburary N-E Game Club: Metroid Prime

What constitutes a Hypermode run? (did I use that verb correctly? I never used it before ) -
Don't have a favourite legend, yet. It's great that all of them are balanced very well. Except maybe Mirage - community says his ultimate is rather weak. He will definitely be the first Legend I'll unlock, though. Only a few more levels to go My mates and I managed to win 4 times today. The final battles were always incredibly intense. Just now I finished second after my two random teammates left during the drop...played a little defensively but still managed to get 4 kills. Wiped a whole squad with perfect execution of Wraith's Into the Void skill. I'm pretty sure I will pay money for this game once the Battle Pass drops in March. Already had so much fun with this and I can see myself playing for quite a long time.

4 hours in, I just battled a rare mirage (couldn't defeat it, as I was too weak) and this was the battle music: Hunter's Chance is one of my absolute favourite FF tracks and this remix is sooooo good. Yes, I love the fan service. Gameplay is top notch. I like the battle system, mirages and everything that goes with them. The Vita version suffers from a lot of loading screens (I assume these aren't in the PS4 version?) and the occasional frame rate hiccup. Even with overclocking enabled. Doesn't impact the experience, though.

Just to piss off @Hero-of-Time some more I started yet another game on my Vita. I gave back the copy of Dragon Quest Builders and instead borrowed World of Final Fantasy from my mate. Put in two hours and I think I have finally found the single-player game I'm going to stick with. It's charming, funny (Lann is such a goofball), lovely to look at and the gameplay seems to be right up my alley.

Pretty sure something like that will be added in the future. Just read a post on reddit how the "no-marketing strategy" was perfect for this. If this game had been announced weeks/months ago with something like "not Titanfall; f2p; battle royale" it would've been dead on arrival. I have to agree. This was the best approach the devs could've taken.

Demo is out now!

My faith that people here finally realize what a good game is. And it's freaking 80% off. BUY IT!
