COVID-19 (The artist formally known as Coronavirus)
drahkon replied to bob's topic in General Chit Chat
Our university just cancelled everything (practical courses, lectures, exams, etc.) until mid. April. Germany will close its borders tomorrow morning. It really does feel like a round of Plague Inc., doesn't it... -
With season 3 coming at the end of March, I decided to rewatch the entirety of S1 and S2. Just finished the very first episode and I'm hooked again.
-
Finished half of it and it's not good. The puzzles are ok (at best), but they are ruined by the incredibly slow movement of everything. This is definitely a game that I can't/won't finish because I'd be bored out of my mind. Soooo... I decided to give Blaster Master Zero yet another chance. Here we go... The game poses no challenge at all. I'm not trying to brag, I think it's objectively easy for the following reasons: The majority of enemies do not actively engage you. They are either stationary and only start attacking when you're close or they move around randomly. The latter can be easily avoided or killed. Given that you only have range attacks, picking off stationary enemies without any other danger around is piss easy (especially once you get the heat-seeking missile). The dungeons stop being challenging in any way once you've upgraded your weapon, which happens very quickly; the final upgrade is ridiculously OP. Platforming has almost no dangers involved. You come across the occasional spikes but avoiding them is trivial. One of my pet peeves in gaming: Stepping on a moving platform, waiting for them to reach their destination, stepping off and then walking on to the next moving platform...can you really call this gameplay? So far I haven't even come close to dying. Now here's my question: WHY THE FUCK CAN I NOT STOP PLAYING THIS TIME AROUND? I stopped playing it a while ago after 2 hours of playtime. And today I've played 2 hours straight without taking a break. It's easy as hell but there's something to it. I don't know what it is and I won't question it. Such a weird game. I usually get bored with games that are not challenging to me. Anyway, reached Area 7. Seems like I'm close to the end.

Don't make me play this right now. I wanted to wait for the new patch...

COVID-19 (The artist formally known as Coronavirus)

Decided to not go to a party tonight, got met with "lol, so you're also a vicitm of all the panic and hysteria", "oh, look who just stays at home and won't be having fun". I left the group without a word and I'm not sure if I'd rather laugh or cry at people's ignorance. I've learned a lot about many people in my circle of acquantances these past few days...many of them have fallen victim to fake news. It's kind of sad to see... -
Uncut Gems What a ride. Adam Sandler is astounding in this. He is such a great actor when he wants to be. Cinematography was awesome, too. A thrilling ride right up to the very last second.

Oh, this slipped my mind completely. @viceview51 I'm most likely available from now on the entire day. And then again on Sunday. On weekdays I'm not sure, yet. Let me know when's good for you

Finished Super Mario Maker 2's story mode. Very lackluster. Still, some nice introductions to several mechanics. Will definitely help me with creating levels further down the line. Will I complete every level available in story mode? Maybe, maybe not. Not in the near future. Bought The Bridge for 1.50€ and finished the first chapter. Not a bad puzzle game so far. Love the asthetic and M. C. Esher style puzzles. Movement could be a bit faster, though.

It's so surreal to me. I've been "part of" a couple instances where history has written itself (9/11, climate change, right wing on the rise again, Trump being elected,...) but this pandemic is taking the cake. It's eerie...a weird atmosphere. I'm trying to not let it get to me. Easier said than done. -
COVID-19 (The artist formally known as Coronavirus)

Our university's officials announced that all study rooms and sports grounds will be closed until April. All "non-educational" events are cancelled. Wow, what the hell half-assed measures are these? Home office for people who are able to do this is still not mandatory and seminars/lectures/exams will still take place. Things like this is why we're having this pandemic. I really hope governments take Italy as an example and follow suit. The country made mistakes but are now doing everything to keep things in check. They are drastic measures but they are necessary. Edit: Forgot to mention: Those measures taken by our university will be in place from next Saturday onwards. Why not starting now? Your guess is as good as mine... -

It's officially a pandemic. 2020 is AWESOME. -
My theory: Both Sony and Microsoft are waiting for each other to make the first move. This will continue perpetually, we won't see any new conosles from either, CONSOLE GAMING IS DOOMED.
-
I don't get it either...I'm not worried at all. Sony is still in a strong position with the PS4 and that's almost 7 (!) years after its release. Quite a few heavy hitters to be released. People can complain all they want, but Sony simply doesn't need to announce anything right now.

Been playing the story mode for a while. It's fun for what it is, but nothing more. I think it'll be a nice way to get a feel for what can be done with the creator. Speaking of. In my opinion, the only thing that's needed right now is an overworld creator. Just a simple tool to create an overworld and let people put in 10-15 levels.

Super Mario Maker 2 challenge - June challenge has started!
drahkon replied to Sméagol's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Didn't know that. So much for me creating puzzle levels Oh, I've beaten it. But only because after a few tries I knew what's coming. It's just the fact that at first you can't really see what's above and once you do you get shat on with spikes with very little time to react. Edit: Also just realized that I played londragon's son's level Brb after trying @londragon's creation. Edit²: londragon's level needs more variation. And the section with the clera pipes can easily be cheesed with walljumps -

For yours, more checkpoints would've been great. I know it's a puzzle level and they have slower pace, but I don't like having to go through the same puzzles again when I make a mistake during a new puzzle/room. That's a personal preference, but it kind of ruins your level for me. For Dcubed's level it's the vertical section. It's too finicky to set up properly. The problem with Vileplume2000's level is that vertical scrolling is quite slow and you can't see what's coming more often than not. I'll probably take part. Will have to buy a stylus, though, as creating levels without it is a nightmare... -

Tried every level. ReadShell's level gets my vote. Consistent mechanics and generally just a joy to play. Glen-I's was very enjoyable, as well. londragon's son's level didn't really use Spikes (sorry, @londragon, I've mistaken your son's level with yours) The other's weren't fun, sorry...either because you can't see what's going to happen or can't manipulate Spike's mechanics consistently. They are difficult for the wrong reasons. Call me a quitter but I can't play through levels like these. Also: It would be great if the first post of this thread was updated with the current codes. It was a bit annoying to sift through the thread and find codes. And since Nintendo is inept at making good menus to find levels even when you follow creators it would be cool to have a list of codes readily available -
Three things that need to change: red dots on the map need to go - it's way too easy to locate players; keep it for the UAV streamlined loot is generally ok, but we at least need the option to swap optics it needs a solo mode Other than that, it's great. Really fun. This is a game that I could see myself play occasionally, if it had a solo mode.
-
Now I can and I have. 30 hours of playtime and I've realized that I won't get anymore out of it. I looked up what there is left to do and it's pretty much what I've been doing the entire game, i.e. go through a dungeon and recruit the Pokémon at the end. I've run through a 99-floor dungeon and it was fun until floor 50. There's no chance that I'll keep enjoying this for longer. Great game. Lovely entry point for the Mystery Dungeon series, I reckon. But it's time to move on Thanks @Glen-i and @Dcubed for being so helpful.

Made some progress. New dungeon has been unlocked. Let's see whether it'll wreck me 27 hours in now, still can't stop playing.

One Punch Man is just non-stop action right now. It's awesome -
Decided to put my focus on making Smeargle my first fully upgraded Pokémon. Put a lot of items into Larvitar/Pupitar before, though, so I need more power ups Anyway, is it possible to increase the Accuracy of a move to "sure hit" with Accuracy Ups? Edit: Apparently it is not
