Yeah, the novelty of it definitely kept me going. That and, as I mentioned previously, the multiple approaches one could take to a problem given the different options - felt it achieved more than I might have expected from the early game stuff. I might try going back to it again next week or so - just feel like I've got so much to play and not enough time!

Smash 4 was good, but I don't think it did the right things. It could just be time/age but I think I still prefer Brawl over it really(though it did ofc have its own new things that I did like). MK8 didn't hold me long enough, but that's probably just fatigue on my own part rather than the game's fault - not sure I gave it enough time/judgement on its own merit there. However if we want to talk about quality of IP - I think it has to mentioned that Splatoon was, for all intents and purposes, an absolutely banging showing. For what's a very multiplayer focused game, the single player was decently solid for what there was of it, and despite many criticisms that can be levelled at the infrastructure of the online service - the actual content and dripfeed of additional content for me was really good at the end of it all. Having said that, I haven't played for a few months and there's actually even some more in it now that I haven't experienced in terms of weapons etc. may even have been a new stage I've missed too(what was the last released?). Sadly it may be argued that Splatoon was the one-off. You've given examples of other titles - but I can only comment to the extent that they weren't doing enough to get me to part with my monies for them. Whilst I think that's a judgement of sorts in itself, I do have to acknowledge that I might be missing out on something I'd really enjoy.

How long does a raid run tend to take you guys? I'm getting tempted to get involved, though I haven't even attempted one as of yet. My light's sitting at 296 atm though I worry I'd be lost having not done one before(ofc you guys'd help with that) - I'm also now a maxed titan if you're after that Defender shield. Gonna start levelling my warlock soon(sparked to 25) I think.

Had Magicka 1 on Steam but my graphics card and/or PC was a bit shitty about it for some reason - was playable but stuttering. Sure it was something I actually later fixed with a driver update, but it was beyond me caring enough to go back to Magicka then - so I'd actually be super chuffed for that on PS4! Hopefully play with a few peeps here if interested.

If you think that's bad, think about London and the south east! Someone at work was telling me they practically bought a fucking mansion* up north somewhere for what is basically a shitty excuse for a house here. I do like the idea of the ease of swapping between two PS4s - though was it much different with the PS3? I'd also ask, though it's such an easy fix anyway, does the pad only sync up with one console at a time? I know it sounds weird, but I'm very much a 'my pad' kind of guy when it comes to consoles. (*not a mansion, but like...a decent sized house)

Is anyone suggesting here that the Nintendo Account won't be it? I'd presume your 'NNID' is just becoming your 'Nintendo Account'. What's the confusion around this?

I had a fair crack with last months and really thought I'd keep making the most of them going forward, but it seems this month must have just disappeared into a haze of Terraria and Destiny as the only one I touched was Super Meat Boy! I might make it a point to try and working through Broken Age soon though, as I hear good things about it.

With this talk of official checkpoints - did anyone see about the password/checkpoint system someone apparently managed to implement? Well yeah, that's my point. IF they fix it. But it's a problem that currently exists and we have to deal with; plus as Flink says it isn't just a simple step to suddenly fix either. As for Splatoon, I a.) can't due to working but b.) why would I? 'Being a git' aside - if I can have the ease of system and social gaming on PS4 compared to the time it takes organising/skyping/communicating on WiiU but only an hour to spend on one or the other, why pick the one that frustrates me more? Even the quality of service seems worse - I've experienced far more network issues on Splatoon in all the hours I put into it than I could really say I have so far on PS4. But this comes back to my original point of the frustration - all those hours I put into Splatoon. It's a great game, I love/d it and played it ALOT, but the systems around it just aren't cutting it for me now I've gotten used to something else. It will make me, and quite very probably others, think twice before buying products offering the less preferable experience.

Did you ever really believe it would manage GC numbers though? I know a lot of hopefuls were speculating it, but I can't say I recall having the grandest of confidence in it. The problem was... This. I mean, I knew everyone here was getting alternate consoles and saying how they were etc but I was thinking even with my venture afield that I'd still play my WiiU from time to time - but I don't think I can be bothered to stomach it. I was thinking this a day or two ago(having not seen this) about whether I'd adopt another Nintendo console - and the honest answer was probably not. They're just so far behind standard that it's ridiculous - the amazing ease of PS4 is ridiculous compared to the struggles I had with Splatoon. The more annoying thing is it's not even the games/gameplay that's the issue, it's just the general infrastructure of it all. Splatoon is amazing as a game imo - but it's niggles really let it down and they're not particularly 'gameplay' ones imo. I was tempted to make an actual thread to discuss whether people would adopt the next gen Nintendo - but ofc a bit too controversial. It feels really mad to think I can feel like this now, because I honestly didn't think I would(despite many of you actually saying I probably would too :p)

I felt a bit like that for a while, but after playing more and more and trying more I'm getting a bit better at levels(may even have 3 starred one or two, with a couple 2 stars too) - I think there drones/specials are the balancing here though. As you play more you get more points to spend/upgrade and then can get better etc - it's a small grind until you're there though(I think restarting rather than exiting after also doesn't count towards points, no idea how they work them actually). So far though I've gotten myself a fully upgraded attack drone, and fully upgraded control drone. I have the special/secondaries but I forget about them/don't tend to use them. I often forget about the smart bombs too.

Do you mean you didn't find the instructions in the first place or that you tried and didn't manage to do it? I'm sure someone here could figure out some personalised instructions for your router etc.

Hmm. I got my white with TLoU and God of War for £300 from Game. Can definitely understand the motivation for getting something a little different :p I'm not usually one to care for looks too much, and the PS4 generally does look quite nice, but there's something I really enjoy about having my white one - quite possibly the fact it stands out a bit too. Who's doing the deals you mentioned, btw? I don't think GAME were showing it on their website iirc(they had the deal for the black console) but given argos didn't have one of the bits I popped in store and they had the same on the white one - so could be worth trying a few high street places, or if you can find the deal on the black maybe see if they'll swap a white in for you. I've been getting tempted by a blue second pad - wished so bad they had red/blue consoles going when I was buying the whole thing though.

Yessssss! Moar friends! I find I'm not particularly good myself Flink - though advancing does help a bit as you can access some new things etc. My mate's cousin saw a fb post I made and bought it - within hours he'd destroyed not only my scores but most of my other friends' scores too(except Drahkon, that is :p)! Definitely did help spur me on a bit to play and beat his score - sure I spent another 2-3 hours just on the first few stages the other day. Annoyingly I keep coming in just one or two hundred k below his tops, and just can't seem to do any better!

Speaking of which...when're you thinking for this? :p I'm down for Tuesday, and possibly re-arranging Wednesday so I'll be a maybe for that.

What sort of deals are you seeing at the moment on the various SKUs? I was the same with myself and the white console - tbh I'd say even if it's an extra bit of bunce to go for the colour you want - 30 quid or something over a console's lifetime isn't that much at all! Ofc having said that I found equal deals for my white as the black. Other thing to consider is the recently announced price drop for EU - whilst the retailers were already essentially selling at the £300 mark there's still a possibility some even better deals might start creeping in in prep for Christmas if they pass on the savings...

Out of interest - what do you guys do with your glimmer? I find myself maxing out on occasion, but there doesn't seem to be much of worth for spending it on(googling suggests buying stuff that I presume is now purchased with legendary marks instead) - picked up a few ammo synthesis to keep it down in the interim, but yeah...just curious if/what you spend yours on.
