Sadly I'd continue to be of the view that money is a driver - what is it that the innovation offers that drives things? Surely better efficiency and value for the money(or lack thereof, in case of free services) being put out? I don't think it can be separated. Are Apple actually the biggest company in the world(genuine question)? Was the innovation in terms of the product, or the branding/marketing, or something else? I can't actually recall what happened with MySpace though I'd presume it was facebook(though I feel like I left the former before the latter) but with Imageshack - what did their competitors start doing that won out there? I use imgur mostly for hosting these days, but I see very little difference myself personally compared to the functionality I had with Imageshack - in their case I think they put barriers in to its old functionality, and that's what I'm saying would be my concern with YouTube if they change their service like jayseven suggested(which, again, isn't actually the case here as it seems).

I can't do Mondays for the foreseeable future(rewatching the awesome fullmetal brotherhood) but can probably manage evenings pretty fine - weekends tend to be worse for me in terms of fixed times, and I'll still be sporadic of the weekday evenings but much more likely then. For next week Tuesday currently looks my best/only, actually. @Marcamillian may be interested in joining if he's about too.

Yeah I kinda think along the same lines in that nothing else is really big enough to, and that YouTube is super huge. However I do think of things like Myspace and Imageshack that have once been used by almost everyone, and now are faded into obscurity in the minds of some. Were those money/sub driven causes too? The power of free/not paying shouldn't be underestimated. Ofc the crux of all this is on the regular service changing at all - and as being said, the general idea is that that won't happen, and this is an extra more than it is a change.

Yessssssss! I imagine it'll be the sort of game I tend to have a bit of a crack on day to day - easy to 'have a quick game' whilst it turns into much more than that! The one more go nature definitely keeps me going with it. I do have one major criticism though - one of the soundtracks for a specific mode has a little sequence in it that I'm certain reminds me of a TV gameshow, and it's pissing me off because I can't figure out what the hell it is. Slightly distracting halfway through a level :p

I am enjoying it - but I enjoyed previous(think it was the DS version? I recall it had drones too) and I'm not sure it's reflective with a game like this - you either like it or not? It's set in progressive levels, each being of a specific mode type which gives some variety when it's different, and there's 'boss' levels too. The different mode types do get you thinking about your approach each time. The other thing is ofc the 3D nature of levels giving variety too; some are still 2D but some are fully 3D like cubes(or peanuts!) which can be a bit disorientating at first but I found my adjustment to be pretty quick. One thing though - it can be hard at times. There's been a few sticking points, but that's the nature of the game, and progression helps. For the levels there's the target score, and then two extra targets after - so even without friends there's scores to aim for like a medal system - though again I think this was in previous entries. I think I maybe spent 2-3 hours on it in a couple different bursts yesterday - I think having more friends on my list(especially active players) with it so there's more scores to try and work towards beating will keep me interested - so I'm slightly selfish in suggesting other people pick it up, to make it more interesting for myself :p Honestly though - I think for £7 and the fact I've already given it at least 2 hours, I'll definitely get my money's worth. There's still lots of levels to go too looking at the map.

Ahhh yeah, that's the presumption I was working under!

I would most definitely be up for this. Though I may be frustratingly shit, too. I did find Ranked a bit better to play online, but I've recently gone back to unranked and gotten into terrible habits...

So this is on a sale! £6.30 atm, thought it was worth a go at that price. Played about half hour or so already(kept replaying levels, but I'll go back later on now) - basically just beaten the first boss. @Fierce_LiNk I know you've just bought some stuff in the Halloween sale but if this was taking your fancy I think £6.30 isn't that bad a price for it; the 'one more go' factor can really rack up one's playtime! Drahkon's beasted my friends leaderboards though(which is like...him and 4 people from here).

You're an absolute machine Hero. Honestly don't know how you manage to get so much done in games! I'm gonna keep an eye on this for a later price reduction - got enough to be getting on with my PS4 yet(and I think I spied a few store discounts I wanna take advantage of atm...)

My mate was telling me about this yesterday - he said it was $11 a month in the US or something?! That's a huge price imo if accurate - and not something I'm particularly interested in in the slightest. I know people who use Youtube like lots, but I was thinking about it and I'm not sure I'd class my own usage as all that huge these days(barring embedded/linked content).

So I didn't play the splatfest(completely forgot about it until Sunday, when I was going work) and haven't played for a while in general, however I was thinking whilst in the cinema yesterday about how there were adverts for this a while ago(wasn't there?) but they seemed to have quickly died off. Then I was thinking - why don't they use the Splatfest as a theme for small advert spots? Something quirky like cats or dogs, eating or sleeping, little clips of the two with some funny chat over the top - then a sort of 'have your say in Splatoon!' type dealie or something? Advertises the game to those without it, and the splatfest to those with so they get playing etc. The internet's shown that everyone loves cats, and dogs, and a few kittens and puppies turned into an ad for this could have worked imo!

Tbh I don't think they can be any shitter than Yodel, so it's probably a good thing!

So following on from my previous vita/TV questions my mate kindly leant me his Vita which I had a brief go on last night. First hurdle? Didn't realise Vita is one PSN per system essentially. Additionally - you obvs need same psn signed in on ps4 to use remote play. Tedious. Thankfully my mate was additionally kind enough to send me his PSN login details so I could login on my PS4 to then try it all out. The unfortunate side to that meant I had to start everything I wanted to try from scratch! Just texted my other mate initial impressions though... 'Tho had to start from scratch on all as logged in on his psn. Worked pretty well in my room on standard framerate, though felt ever so slightly off. Dunno if it was the framerate/lag or my unfamiliarity with vita. Rocket league got super artifacted when I tried on high framerate(tho I'd still say lag was fairly low, just artifacted to shit). Terraria feels weird with lack of shoulders and stick clicks (replaced with vita touchpad touches in certain areas) and on similar lines running in destiny and meleeing is a bit trickier too. Sticks also a bit more sensitive making it tricky to use accurate cursor placement in Terraria which puts me off quite a bit. Would lean me closer to a pstv for use of ps4 pad.' I would still consider a Vita, but the difference between the PS4 pad and the Vita for controlling makes me think twice given I can probs get a PSTV for sub £40, and that I don't particularly game when out and about a lot these days(and I have my 3DS and phone to fill such gaps if I really need). Swayed by some of the feeback I had on facebook too(from peeps here) that the Vita may shortly end up gathering dust, so...gonna think on it all a little more!

Not played much DQ/DW in my time bar maybe one on the nes and DWM(STILL waiting on my western remake!) but your post has got me rather interested on this @Hero\-of\-Time! Never got round to playing Hyrule Warriors but maybe this'll take its place at some point...!

Basically what I've been doing for the last 5 years. It's working well.

I haven't touched anything but Destiny and Terraria for the last few weeks(and PS+ games) but I'm definitely planning to get back on this soon methinks. Surprised at the lack of love for the criminal convoys, I loved them though did them pretty vanilla with driving etc. - some of the gang hideouts have been a bit more challenging from what I recall but I think these posts highlight one of the great things about the game - the different amount of ways of going about doing the same thing!
-
Cool, cheers. Sadly my availability is now out the window again as my brother's called in a favour, but I'll hopefully get involved next week or the week after!

This entirely. It was touted as this huge Zelda game but it was essentially a small Zelda game stretched out so far that in the grand scheme of things it felt barren and lifeless(yes there were good bits, but too few and far between). I still stand by TP being a pretty good game, but an abhorrent Zelda. They won't fix any of that for a remake or it, whatever they do do, just won't be enough in the huge void that was the world. TP would probably have worked much better on an SS scale.

The new anime and manga thread! [Use Spoiler Tags!]
Rummy replied to Shorty's topic in General Chit Chat
I've started watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood again - and I can't do anything but highly, highly, HIGHLY, recommend anyone who hasn't done so to do so...it's all on Netflix! I just love it so much, and I'm barley into it again. Watch eeeeeet. -
I read it and so hope you're very wrong Jimbob, but the sad thing is that in my heart I think I suspect the same. There's some heavy irony in it if it happens, releasing TP HD to fill the gap. Personally though - this won't be for me. TP was ok and all, but I don't want to support what I think it possibly one of the worst(barring wand of gamelon etc) Zeldas any more than I need to - in case it encourages exactly what I'm afraid of.

How shit am I going to be if I know nothing on the Raid front? I'm currently around 288ish light(for reals this time, and possibly going to up if I get any much playtime next few days). I'd have to go on Saturday, though.
-
Yeah was seeing the prices this morning which got me thinking about it. Only thing I'd wonder though - other than the big screen does it offer anything over the Vita(other than the compatibility issues)? Kinda feel like I'd like having the portable nature of a Vita and should probs put the PSTV cost toward it given they can both do the remote play, plus there's the PS+ games to go with it too.
-
Has anyone here got a Playstation TV? Would you rate it at all? Thinking about wanting my games in my bedroom as well as living room, and the PS TV remote play/streaming from PS4 might be useful - though I'm simultaneously wondering whether it'd be a better idea to put the money towards getting a Vita instead(anyone know the best sort of price on them, too?)
-
As I've just bought and gotten back into this on PS4 I was browsing the forums with some questions and thought hey - why not go direct to the source for information? Not done a lot of in-depth looking but from what I can see on the surface of things, it's still due for both Wii U AND 3DS - and they're projecting its release in early 2016(definitely post 2015). Not sure what content will and will not make it with all the various versions and differences flying around, but meh. I played it near its original incarnation and still found it great, really hope it takes off nicely for the Nintendo platforms and gets a new fanbase - I'm still absolutely smacked out on it atm.
