Turns out Psychick doesn't think he can make it now either, which leaves 3 of us as a solid...so if anyone wants to join from Golgoroth around 2130/2200hrs this eve let me know with a mention...
-
Sounds like there's some notable differences between these swords somehow?
-
How long is the direct and is it on Youtube? I'll probs chuck it up on another screen whilst actually playing Destiny/PS4, but I'd def mug off voice chatting with my mates for the time it's happening to chill in chat with you folks!
-
Arc edge or something? Basically the arc sword infused, but was wondering on whether it's simply upgraded/replaced as debating whether I really wanted arc for my sword. Sadly I'm just too attached to my void fusion! Given I wouldn't really have anything void otherwise(only been defender atm to level it). I like fusions for the moments where I need to hit hard on something smallish, but I guess I'm just Long Far Gone...(ohohoho!)
-
The guy leading us focused on a particular bubble for him, which had an alcove just behind that I could stick it in. Not sure how much my team were using it despite me being quite clear I was throwing it up for them though(mostly was charged when going in, though). I keep hearing this stuff about tethers - I'm assuming this is that grenade or something from a void skill tree in one of the other classes? I've only experienced being tethered myself in crucible.
-
Is the exotic sword from the crucible guy(shaxx?) where I had to kill 100 majors/yellow bars and 25 guardians in crucible? Got about 8 to go of the latter. Also does it replace the old one, or come in addition to it? Re: Thousand Yard Stare..ohhhh yeahhh! That's my sniper, sadly it's only 285 attack though and I haven't the heart to sacrifice my 300 Fusion into it(quite like fusions). Still been finding it pretty decent at 285 for the raid though.
-
Yeah, someone mentioned snipers and machine guns - do machine guns still apply to Golgoroth? On the plus side just before we started yesterday I maxed out the Defender - unlocking the bonus to weapons of light(may have helped us with the war priest). Annoyingly PsychickYouth apparently doesn't have much in the way of weapons etc. He has got a sniper but it isn't particularly great level, may encourage him to use it anyway though(considering his other main secondary is a shotgun for crucible )

It's basically video game lego, from what I understand. I've still yet to take any Minecraft plunges, but I can definitely see how one can get hooked given the amount I've loved Terraria. My only question for Minecraft if it comes - will it be at a good price to encourage uptake, where many have possibly already got it on an alternative system already?
-
I'm continuing my raid with the peeps I mentioned on Friday night around 2130(or earlier if I get out of work a bit earlier or they base me near home) - *may* have one or two spaces going so if the raid doesn't come together and you're about and wanna join let me know. Should have our checkpoint at Golgoroth(tried a few times but didn't manage to do too well against him).
-
Yeah I've been playing some and enjoying it - didn't realise quite how set it is(ie set sets, if that makes sense) but I'm getting used to it. Some people are already like...too good, but it's a a pretty nice change and hopefully getting people stopping to think a bit more before just smashing the ball(though in some modes, just smashing the ball can work and is also excellent fun). When would you be thinking for some more, anyone? I don't think I'm even free of an eve until like Tuesday now, though I may be about on Sat morn/afternoon and Sunday afternoon, not sure yet.
-
I really hope so, as I don't care much for TPHD in comparison to ZeldaU(which has me increasingly worried). If they don't show anything of Zelda U now - I just don't know what I'm doing to be thinking. Surely we're due something by now? Wasn't this game going to be a 2015 'guaranteed' release at some point?? At this rate it no doubt will be used like TP and be a dual system release to try and get the next one sold.

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think the only way to move forward for them is to try and build the online system from the ground up, and have it as a major core focus of the next system's development from the beginning and constantly throughout - rather than something to think about later. I'm not sure if we'll see that sort of focus from them, though. If you're constantly thinking about it at every step of the way of building your system however; surely you're going to come out of it with something of a more reliable and solid product? Also avoids any stupid issues such as oh i don't know having to turn off your online for all your old games because your existing servers are too tightly coded into things and becoming extortionately priced or whatevs. The NWFC should really have been a better foundation for their online to evolve on, kinda like how XBL or PSN was beyond the system of sorts when the successors arrived. Ofc, my actual workings of the online systems isn't tiptop, I may have inaccurately thrown some assumptions about things in here. -

Not sure what's happening with the normal mode raid, but potentially got 2 spaces for 8pm tomorrow if anyone's interested? Need to know by like 12/1pm tomorrow so I can confirm though. Caveat is me and my mate psychick have only done like a third of it(up to war priest, didnt beat him), and another guy hasn't done it at all, though our 4th guy has done it a few times on normal and hard as my previous post mentioned. He is like 15 though, so probably just plays vidya games all the time and knows what he's doing :p Long shot I realise, but offer's there!

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I guess I could have elaborated more - though I was trying to avoid my subsequent tl;dr :p Interestingly I found out last night Dj's mate was actually just a PSN person - seamless that I didn't notice! I've bolded the last bit - because for me it isn't neccessarily just about the voice chat. Yes, I like voice chat, but my overarching point of the alternate that I've experienced is that it's a whole online system - VC yes but in actuality so much more. Even within VC itself - you can have general chat/banter, game relevant talk, strategic organisation, or just simply ease of communication on organisation with no notable chat. It's a whole, and one of our main, channel of communication - I think it should be standard at an OS level on everything at a minimum. -
Ok, right. Here's my current position. Just speaking to my friend's other half(aka Scott/Heyho - was scoping for another person if we needed) and he's never done the King's Fall raid, BUT he was apparently planning to do it this week with his son(Gabe, who's done it a few times on both normal and hard apparently) - extending the invite to myself and Psychick-Youth(Ciaran) via me. Gabe can probs get two more to fill the spaces left, but Scott's said if I know anyone then we can fill it that way. My other problem is that I can only do tmw, Weds, Thurs/Fri 10pmish on, and maybe Saturday/Sunday with no guarantees on them or times. Monday's most likely out and next Tuesday's a possibility. Now I'm torn, because I wanted to finish off with you guys and yous showed me the ropes. However given the checkpoint goes with the reset - I dunno what to do. I'd like to carry on with yourselves, but if 6 of you here wanted to raid I'd rather you guys went together knowing I've got Psychick/Scott/Gabe to make up 2/3rds of a raid with myself and the fact those of us who don't know it will probs slow you down. However! We're still two people down - so if nothing comes of it here and anyone particularly fancies doing the normal mode KF raid - I'd happily take the volunteers and try to co-ordinate amongst all these folks. Scott/heyho says they're thinking 8-10ish Weds, which I presume is an 8pm start and not just a random 2 hour window to start. I obvs need to let him know, to let Gabe know, to let another 2 folks to fill the gaps know; if any of this makes sense. All that aside - got the kingslayer ghost shell at 300 defense at some point during Sat's raid which is excellent and bumped me up another point on the light level scale. Don't know if I've got lucky with something somewhere to have gotten that, but regardless I am pretty chuffed with it
-
So what happens to the normal mode raid going forward @Agent Gibbs? Do checkpoints reset with the weekly? I don't mind if we don't manage it, just wanna know where we are and ting.
-
Just wanted to confirm we're still continuing our raid at 8pm right, @Agent Gibbs @Blade and @Deathjam (plus 1?)? Frag/Psychick is down with it as is myself.

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm re-treading old ground, but I've thought of another example from last week that was a good parallel for Splatoon. Dan Dare organised a Rocket League via here - time and day set. Come 7 it's just me and Dan on our PS4s, we decide to go ahead. Marcamillian pops up with a message on my PS4(another friend, who annoyingly isn't so good on the texts :p) saying he's joining, and Drahkon PS4 messages me asking if he can join too. So in minutes me and Dan have gone from thinking it's just me and him to knowing we've got at least 2 more joining. In Splatoon if you start a match - how do you know if someone else is joining if it isn't Turf Wars and you then see them(assuming you don't back out whilst they're queueing even)? How about mode to play? We can discuss it there and then, and know what to do(when to back out etc) and know what we're all doing. 2vs2 or 4 man team online? WE mixed it up with ease.RL isn't dissimilar to Splatoon in it has button text shortcuts - though it does have 16? as opposed to like...2. The other advantage is you can even free text message in game, too. When Dan dropped(went to get a drink), Drahkon could ask us where he was, I could reply telling him - in game so major distraction from it. Dan can add Marcamillian as a friend here for future RL, and I can suggest he adds Marcamillian to the party*. I can also explain to Marcamillian who Dan is. Drahkon doesn't join but replies with a message to say he hasn't got his mic and is listening to music so won't join the party. That's fair enough. He leaves after an hour or so before we're ready to finish and can let us know he's going to - Me Dan and Marc can decide again quick and easy via voice chat what mode to do now our dynamic has changed. It all works. We find ourselves 2/2.5hrs after starting all wrapping up having had a good game, good banter, and not once having to touch anything other than the PS4 in those hours - all due to the good online(even if Rocket League's is a bit funny). *The only strange thing I found was the 'suggesting' people to the leader to invite to join the party. I do understand/realise why it's done - for privacy/security reasons; but I didn't quite expect it to be like that. In some ways I felt it's a bit of a step backward; but that's because I don't generally mind randomers in a party, and I'd expect if you've got someone in your party already you'd trust whoever they then want to invite in to it too. I just can't see it happening. There's no reason it hasn't happened already except for philosophy of the company as far as I'm concerned - I don't think they're going to change that enough. Some strides may be made towards it, but I feel they'll continue to restrict themselves unnecessarily - and with the online world constantly evolving I think it'll quickly become outdated if it isn't already when it arrives. Nobody wants a relic of a system compared to what they're used to everywhere else(not console wise per se, but just in this constantly online world). -
Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I should have clarified - the external comms from what I'm aware was just me(DJ got his mate over PS4, iirc) and the extent of it was little more than a text message to essentially tell him to get on PS4 for it - texts are still easier than skype, and are my general method of communication with my mates so I don't think it's fair to judge that. If I post here to you guys - 'wanna play some Splatoon' it hasn't generally been easy to then continue from there on the Wii U side of things once we're on. There were other people on PS4 at the time too - Gibbs was able to easily message asking if they'd help fill the gaps and we could see what they were doing etc. and get a quick and easy response. If all 4 of us have this ability to check with our friends then it's exponentially increasing our chances of solving our problem. You've additionally overlooked the communication between Gibbs, myself and DJ - all faciliated/done through PS4 once I'd seen the issue via the forum 10 minutes before we were due to start - Gibbs mesaged me on PS4 anyway so that's irrelevant. Other than one post in the thread, our comms went on to PS4 - which is faster and more real time than a thread as no need for refreshing etc(as I've had to do with Splatoon in the past). Someone drops in Splatoon and you immediately know what's going on and if they'll be coming back in 5 minutes(or less, even)? Did you know he was coming back via the system's online features? I don't think so. How fast was he back playing with you, too? Less than 5 minutes? Put on top of it - the Raid is a co-ordinated activity - for 2/3 hours we had constant communication that helped us know what was happening and with the guy who dropped(as it was just a game glitch, and OS level voice chat overcomes that). Me and my mate got taught the ropes of the raid as we went along - if this was the Nintendo system then it's highly unlikely that would even have been possible. The cherry to end was that within less than a few minutes - we'd easily organised when to continue/play next. Again, would you be able to do that here with Splatoon? And ultimately I'll ask you - if it's so ok, why did you ever feel the need to Skype when Splatooning in the past? I wasn't planning on grabbing an NX until I see how it does, but I think this would definitely be a criteria for me to consider it, having seen the ease of socialising/gaming via OS level on alternatives. -
Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I should think/hope a lot of people here and elsewhere already know and realise this. It's definitely been the weakest aspect of the system for me - and it's put me off of bothering with the system now that I have an alternative. The ease of online really kills it for me - even if I'm not directly playing with someone just the fact I can have a banter. There's been a few times when I'm playing a game and a friend has just jumped in or partied up and we've gotten rocking that way. I didn't bring it up here but I thought rather the same - we initially organised a destiny raid via here for Saturday night but were two men down - bit of chat between me, gibbs and deathjam, bit of external comms from me to my mate, from Deathjam to his - and bam. We filled the gaps within 10-20minutes and was fine going forward and co-ordinating/communicating etc. Let's not forget the complexity here is organising amongst 6 of us, too. Some of whom aren't friends with each other etc. No issues for the next 2/3 hours til we stopped - including when someone's game dropped out completely. They were back up and back in the raid within 5 minutes or so, and we were all aware of what was going on because of the party chat. We finished it up with a simple sentence or two from Blade that set our time for continuing the Raid which was all agreed and we were all wrapped up and gone. -
Thanks again for having us guys - apologies if we held things back a bit getting used to it all, but it was good to learn the ropes and ting. Will see you all on Monday!
-
Sorry hadn't checked thread will ask him now. Also brb making toast. Edit: just seen were two down what happens now?
-
Hmmm. I set limits on my prices to make sure I don't spend too much(monies for living tings and all that) but maybe I'll sway near the next free weekend I have. What's this expansion business I've been seeing about, hearts of stone or something?
-
I know I know, my mate just started working there though so was gonna go in yesterday and buy it when he was there with some extra crap to make him look good. Now I regret my life choices.
There's still time though. As soon as I see it start hitting £25-20 online I'll grab it.
