Been watching a few films while I sterilise bottles in the evening. Each one as the director intended - in 20 minute chunks on a phone screen balanced above the kitchen sink. The Meg This was surprisingly good. I thought it was going to be absolute trash, similar to Sharknado, but actually it turned out to a pretty good 'giant animal movie'. Obviously it's no Jaws, but it pushes all the right buttons most of the time. Oceans 8 I knew this had pretty bad reviews, but I wondered how bad could it be. I enjoyed the other 3 Oceans films, even if they had been getting steadily worse. This one, was just dull. Really boring. The main issue is that the heist goes off without any problems whatsoever. There are no roadbumps to it at all. Woman gets out of prison. Woman decides to steal necklace. Woman gathers a team. Team steals necklace. The end. 1917 This film was excellent. The whole gimmick (and it is a bit gimmicky) of appearing to be filmed in one camera shot was fantastic, and i think it really added to the feeling of tension throughout the whole film. It's really weird in that when watching it, there are a few moments when you keep expecting a cut to arrive, and then it just doesn't. For example there's one point where a character is dragging a dead body, and your brain goes 'oh, there'll be a cut' and he'll be just finishing off burying the body, and then off they'll go, because it's such a common trope for films where they obviously don't want to show someone digging a grave for an hour. But here, that thought popped into my head, and then I realised that no, that probably won't happen. It can't happen. So what are they going to do? It's bizarre how our brains are so used to edits and cuts in films that we come to expect them, even though in real life, obviously they don't exist.

It's only great because sometimes pasted the banjo kazooie logo next to it. If that was just a controller sat in your living room, it would look hideous. Like a fisher price toy.

Disappointed it's in 2D. Liked the look of it from the cutscenes, but I suppose I'll have to wait for Metroid 4 to play like that.

Is that really true? I think the Labour party are a bit of a mess right now, but do we really think they'd do worse that this complete, corrupt shitshow? A party made up of barely sentient algae would do better than the PR-driven bilge we have at the moment. I can't think of a single thing that the Tories have done that suggests they are in any way more competent that any of the other parties (other than manage to convince 45% of the public that they are). I really hate this mentality that 'oh, Labour are unelectable right now, so we have to vote for the Tories'. It's bullshit. What could Labour do that is possibly worse that crashing the country out of Europe, and then allowing a pandemic to kill off 130k people. I wish that it wasn't just a choice between options, but since that's our political system, let the other group in for a while, and see if they do any better. I genuinely don't think they could do any worse.

I remember fawning over pictures of San Francisco Rush 2049 for ages in the N64 magazine. Was building myself up to buying it, and then....just didn't? Can't remember why now, maybe something else came along that i bought instead? Either way, I spent so long researching and reading about this game, that I've almost convinced myself that I have played it, even though i haven't.

It's kind of weird that I had resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be able to play games like Miles Morales, Forbidden West and Ragnarok because I wasn't planning on getting a PS5. But now it turns out that I don't even have to?

Thing is, if they hadn't booed it, it probably would have gone away after a while. But now, they can't stop doing it, because then the boo-ers would have won, so they have to keep it up indefinitely, which will piss off the boo-ers even more!

Why can't you change the logo for a re-release

I have no interest in getting a switch pro, whatever it costs. I play exclusively in hand-held mode, and don't take care if something that tiny is 720p or 1080 or 4k. I can't tell the difference in frame rate unless it drops into single figures either, so that doesn't bother me. Anything with fancy graphics I'll buy on PS4.
