Bump. I thought this needed bringing up again. I noticed that a couple of members on here loaned money which has since been repaid @Eenuh @MoogleViper, so you can loan it out again (or withdraw it, i think). I'm not sure but i think they have since changed the process so you can withdraw the money back out again once it has been repaid, or loan it again. Anywho, you should check in a re-loan the money! They've also launched Kiva Zip, which is a service they are trying out where the money doesn't go through a middle man and so all of it goes to the borrower, and there are no horrific interest rates. Unfortuntely it's only being trialled in the US and Kenya (and there are no current borrowers in Kenya) but it's a nice thought. Anywho, if anyone fancies lending money, join the N-Europe team!

Hopefully seeing this tonight in 2D if we can get tickets.

This is awesome. Made we want to go and watch so many films:

I went to see Muse at the Etihad in Manchester, and their set was about 2 hours 15 mins or something, and although i love Muse, i think it was a tad too long. I don't think i could stand for 3 hours (plus however long you've been standing beforehand) at any gig and enjoy myself. Hope it's good though!

Apparently Man City are going to pay £30 million for Isco. What i don't understand is - what exactly do the FFP rules prevent? Man City have spend like £80 million already this summer? I don't mind if they buy up absolutely everybody personally, but isn't the FFP supposed to stop this?

I fucking love the Villager memes. Just so perfect.

I've watched up to Season 6, but i'm waiting for 6 to finish before we get into it. I like to watch them in a bundle. I'm personally not as much of a fan of Mad Men as my gf is, but they are still good to watch.

As someone who is doing a PhD in Physics/Engineering, the first season of Big Bang was actually funny and pretty clever. They tended to have some simple jokes with a smattering of ones that you would only get if you knew a fair bit about 'science' etc. But as the show went on, and the audience got bigger, presumably they had to cater to a lower common denominator and as such it has been getting less clever and more rubbish. The middle seasons were still funny (i think), albeit with less academical in-jokes. The later seasons are just terrible.

5-5 And i think it'll be 35-42, with the ref picking up the extra. -
I had to buy some Canisten today for my SO. I looked the cashier dead in the eye as i did it, like a man.

This is something that annoys me (and should probably go in the Things That Annoy You thread, rather than here) although this is not aimed at you Ashley, but i hate it that wine is associated so heavily with being cultured, and if you don't like it you aren't cultured etc. It's just a drink, you may love it and quaff many bottles of it, but it doesn't make you more cultured just because you drink it.

31?! That's old! How can someone be that old, it's like.....older than time itself.... Happy Birthday though.

I had a job as a hospital porter during school, and got it without interview. Then i've been a student for four years (parents paid for accomodation, lived off my loan otherwise). Then I got a PhD grant which i lived off for another four years. It's not a position i like to be in, as my CV looks rubbish but it's quite common i think.

Bah! Lost to Comerade Co-op, but the worst thing was, i only scored 1 goal!? I think i'm resigned to the fact that i'll probably go straight back down this season. I need to win more against lower league opposition. Still, there's always the return fixture against Drag-poo for some easy points. -
Yeah it'll actually look really good on my CV anyway. It's for a consultant engineering company who deal mainly in suspension systems. The only reservations i have are that i'm not that fanatical about cars (in comparison to other mechanical engineers) but maybe i can learn...

Had my first ever job interview yesterday. It went pretty well! Halfway through, they told me i'd already got further than the guy they interviewed that morning. Made me feel great, then instantly sorry for him... Anyway, they said it went well enough to get a second interview next week sometime. I liked the look of the company and the people too, although I don't think it's my ideal job, so i won't be too upset if i don't get it. Just feels good not completely bombing in the first interview!

I think it's fairly obvious that he works in a brothel.

Possibly, i only played GTA3 and Vice city on the PC, so the controls were already a bit fiddley. The handling may have been better than it seemed. I don't know what it is that makes characters like Mario a joy to control, and others like Niko a complete mess...

This is more to do with GTA4, but i can't be bothered to dredge up that thread (if there even is one). I had an hour to spare last week, so i fired up GTA4 (which i got for Xmas and havn't played much since) intending to do some of the story, and i was overwhelmed (completely whelmed, almost) by how bad the handling was. Not just the cars, which people mention all the time, but in controlling Niko (sp?). He would just wander all over the place like a spider with 7 legs on one side and often lurch over the edge of things. Getting to go through doorways took two tries each time and I would invariably miss when trying to highjack cars or make jumps. This seems to be to be a problem with most of the GTA games, and i hope they fix it in GTAV. I'm not sure what my point was...

I agree with you 100%, and to a lesser extent for me, with beer. It all tastes disagreeable to me, i don't understand why people would drink it for pleasure and not just to get drunk. Red wine is the absolute nastiness. I keep thinking that suddenly everyone is going to confess that it's all been an elaborate ruse on me, and they've all been hating it all these years too. Yeah i agree with this too, tea never feels particularly refreshing to me. It always leaves a sort of 'Nyang nyang' taste in my mouth that makes me want to swill my mouth with something else. I think these might be related... I'm not a massive music fan, but out of all the gigs i've been to, the best ones are those that everyone is jumping around, dancing to the music and rocking out. The lamest ones are the ones where everyone just stands, listening, and nodding their heads. I don't think the point is the quality of the music, as it will inevitably be worse than the CD. But as Charlie said, it's about participation etc. I would add Italian Restaurants I don't mean Italian food, although i'm not a huge fan myself, but i can see how people would like the food. What i don't understand is why people are happy to go to a restaurant and order a small bowl of pasta with a dollop of sauce on it and pay £12 (15 Euros) for it. Italian food is the easiest cuisine to recreate at home i think, and the most overpriced when you eat out. It also seems to go hand-in-hand with the rudest waiters, but that's just my experience.
