Technically, it´s past the midnight deadline, but if nobody objects, I´ll end the day and start the night. I´ll edit the formal final vote count in later. Tomorrow´s deadline may actually be delayed (by 1 hour), depending on what I´m going to do tomorrow, not sure yet. I´ll let you know. -

Comment: Ok, it seems like I have to clarify the abilities in the game, apparently, what I´ve written in the rules is not clear enough. You have a "passive" ability, and an "active" ability. The active ability is simple, this is what you are accustomed to to doing each night in a mafia game. You can choose each turn (day or night) what you want to do, however, you´re bound to the limits talked about in the rules. Most importantly, an ability can be used only once by anyone each turn (remember, a turn is what I call a day + night). This to prevent things like town investigating everybody at once. Also, in general, you can only have one target and one main function, unless it´s inherent to classic mafia abilities like a jailkeeper or target switcher, or when an ability is truly original, you may try to push your luck. You can send in "ability claims" as soon as the turn starts (i.e. when the day starts). This adds some strategy, as you have to be quick to get the obvious and popular abilities. However, next turn everything is reset, so everything is possible again. Passive abilities don´t do things directly to players, they´re a static ability that wait for certain events to happen. They´re always "on". Unless you change them, they´re there for the rest of the game. I´m sure after years of playing mafia games, you can think of plenty examples, but to give another classic mafia example, the double vote is something I´d consider for a passive ability (though, I guess if you really want to, you could also use it as a one-time active ability). If you want, you can change your passive ability to something else, but only once per turn. This to prevent players adapting on the fly to the current situation. So to summarise: each of you can choose one passive ability for the game, and one active ability each turn. Again, you can look at all the previous mafias you´ve played to find inspiration. Game tip: Personally, I´d think about that passive ability before you even hit no lynch. Vote count: No lynch [2]: Jimbob / The Peeps Not voting [8]: Yvonne / Rummy / Mr-Paul / Jonnas / Sheikah / DuD / Cube / ReZourceman There are 10 active players. Absolute majority is 5. Majority has not been reached. Deadline is 26-02-2014 00:00 CET (25-02-2014 23:00 UK) 30 hours remaining. I´m sorry to inform you this serves no in-game purpose . -

Riot: do whatever the fuck you want mafia Welcome! Have fun! Can´t wait to see what you people come up with! Rules Gameflow Dayphases are 48 hours, nightphases are 24 hours. Deadlines are always at 00:00 CET / 23:00 UK. The combination of a dayphase and a nightphase is a turn. When a majority for a lynch is reached within 24 hours, the dayphase will be shorthened to 24 hours. Votes The usual way. You can vote one person to be lynched during the dayphase. This calls for an absolute majority, which means a number of votes equal to at least 50 % of all active players. Roles There are no pre-determined roles. Your role PM will only specify your alignment, either town or mafia. Win conditions The usual, town needs to eliminate all mafia members, mafia needs to match or outnumber town. Abilities Each turn, you may perform one active ability. In addition, you may enable one passive ability during the game. Active abilities During the turn (this will usually be during the nightphase, but this is not necessary), you may send me a PM with the ability you wish to perform. You have a high amount of freedom of what you can choose, although there are limits. No more than one ability of its kind performed by anyone each turn An active ability cannot be performed twice by anyone within the same turn. This also applies to abilities which are not exactly the same, but very similar. What is deemed "very similar" will be up to me. Abilities are handed out on a first come, first served basis. So for example, there will be no mass investigations by town, or mass killings by mafia. No more than one target As a general rule, you can´t target more than one player with an active ability, unless you can convince me otherwise, like when it´s inherent to the ability. A target switcher would be an example. No more than one main function Your ability has to do one thing only, unless you can convince me otherwise, again, like when it´s inherent to the ability. A jailkeeper is a good example for this one. This doesn´t mean it can´t have lesser side effects. Passive abilities Passive abilites, as opposed to active abilities, are always active, and trigger upon an event. You can have one passive ability active at a time, but you can change your passive ability once per turn. However, like active abilities, no 2 players can´t have the same, or very similar passive abilities. What if my ability gets rejected? There will be two reasons why I reject an ability: it´s either already taken, or I think it´s overpowered. In either case I´ll give no explanation, for the simple fact that if it´s the first case, I don´t explicitly want to confirm that ability is already in use, eventhough you can guess as much, but that´s just part of this game. Just in case it is the second case, you could try to power down your ability. Tips: be creative, think out of the box, think meta, simply be quick, or have a list ready with back-up abilities. Keep in mind that I like being technical.. It will probably help being very specific. Miscellaneous This would be the point where I would tell you you can´t edit your posts and you can´t post when dead etc.. Except I´m not going to do that. Just to be explicit: untill further notice, you may edit your posts, you may quote role PM´s and other messages, you may in fact message other players (and although not a rule I would be much obliged if you add me as a recipient), you may post during the night, you may post when dead, in fact, I´ll even let you post if you´re not playing the game (@Mr\-Paul@Jonnas@Sheikah@Jimbob@DuD@Cube@ReZourceman

If I have evidence that I may gain more players if I leave it open for one more day.. I may do so, but I prefer to just get this thing going. I didn´t have a minimum or maximum number of players in mind, though as always, the more the merrier, although in the case of this game, I actually don´t want too many people playing, that will make ability interactions (amongst other things) much harder for me. But it´s unlikely I´ll get too many players signing, up, so I´m not really worried about hitting that maximum . I´m sure there will be at least a few more sign-ups before midnight (aside from ReZ), and if not, I hope the ones who did sign up have a short but fun game .

I´ve written the mock-up of the rules:
-
The Riot mafia is the official name for the "DAWTFYW" mafia (which stands for "Do Almost Whatever The Fuck You Want", but Riot mafia had a better ring to it). So you can remove that one from the list. HRHR2 is still coming, but is postponed to an undetermined date, will likely be somewhere in the summer.
-
Something different this time. A mafia with very few rules, and no pre-determined abilities. Each night you may do almost whatever you want, although there will be some limits. This will be highly improvised, so expect the game to change, and be prepared for inconsistencies! [01] The Peeps [02] Yvonne [03] Rummy [04] Mr-Paul [05] Jonnas [06] Sheikah [07] Jimbob [08] DuD [09] Cube [10] ReZourceman

With all the setbacks I had in December, I´ve put the HRHR2 mafia on hold, but I´m itching to host another mafia, so if people are up for it, I´ll start a sign-up thread for the Riot mafia, which will be the official name for the mafia I had in mind, with almost no rules, and abilities you can make up each night. Totally broken, no balance, and perhaps unfair, but hopefully also hilarious, fun, and exciting.

I forgot Diddy was in Brawl. I don´t care for him at all (as a Smash Brothers character).
-
Include me in the group of people who bought Game of Thrones season 3. Though I bought them from Amazon US, so I´ll have to wait a little longer. But to me, those episodes are new, so I have something to look forward to!
-
It´s funny, because I considered getting the Wii version in addition.. But I never got around to it, and I frankly don´t care anymore at this point.
-
I applied for the (PC) beta, but do you get a confirmation of this? Because I didn´t get anything in the mail, and I constantly see the button to log in to Origin.
-
I am not excited about the line-up, that is, I am looking forward to the few big games already announced, but I´d like to have seen some new stuff that said, I don´t actually own a WiiU, and this persistent drought lets me actually catch up more easily, my backlog isn´t growing that fast. So it has its advantages! I think there are like 3 WiiU games I actually want from the ones already out. Well, maybe a few more. Anyway, I skimmed the rest of the direct.. - Little Mac.. Objectively, he looks like a good addition, but I´m not a fan of him, having not played any Punchout games. - That pocket football club looks to me like what some of you are playing in the Playground, although with a much better presentation. It´s that presentation that makes this a bit more interesting to me.. But it´s definitely not high priority. - Etrian Odyssey looks cool. Never played those games before, looks like a good game to get into the franchise. - Lots of already announced games: I am already interested, so I don´t need to see any more videos of them.
-
I´ll go watch the beginning then.. Ustream works now .
-
I watched the Youtube stream. Anything exciting I missed in the beginning? I am not that excited by videos of already announced stuff like Mariokart, X and Bayonetta.
-
I never had such connection issues before. I think I´ll just wait for the non-live version.
-
Some people are already playing the beta: http://nl.twitch.tv/jackfrags I applied for the beta just now, but I didn't get any verification if I did this correctly..

Ok, let me tell you a little N64 story, one of those I still have in my memory.. I was very much looking forward to Starfox 64. I didn´t have a SNES, so my playtime with Starfox was limited, but it impressed me nonetheless, so much that I needed to have Starfox 64. Back then, I didn´t have internet, so I was informed by the Dutch official Nintendo magazine. On a sidenote, I still have all those magazine, almost complete safe for one issue I think, and I´m thinking of giving them away to a good home, as I´m cleaning my room and want to get rid of stuff I know I have no rational use for.. That said, I´m a sucker for nostalgia, so I may look through them one more time, or even keep them afterall. Anyway, Starfox 64. Also a thing of that age.. There were these shops that rented things called "VHS cassettes", which had films on them. Our local video rental shop also had videogames, and even the occasional import. So that´s how I got to play Starfox 64 before it was even out, and it got me my first taste of the rumble feature as well. The box was nice and compact, unlike its European equivalent. I liked the game so much, I rented it a second time, something I did not often do. The guy was like "you liked it that much, huh?". Yes I did, I liked it so much, that eventhough I already intended to buy the game anyway, I rented a Japanese copy twice before finally buying "Lylat Wars" (needless to say, I did not approve of that namechange, but it was an unavoidable legal issue as I recall). By renting it twice, I´ve obviously seen pretty much all the content, nonetheless the game entertained me for a long time to come. I even put a little effort in improving my highscores, something I generally do not care for. It´s of course also 100% completed, something I don´t really do anymore nowadays. It means I could play on foot in multiplayer, and I got the alternate openingsscreen. As for my actual highscore, it isn´t that high (I noticed in Youtube videos years later), but it was for me! I can´t recall the score exactly, I have to boot it up (which means getting out my N64 out of the box), but it was 1200+ I think. Haha, I´m actually quickly looking at some highscore videos right now, and 1200+ is even more paltry then I imagined! I love the menu / highscore screen music by the way, now I hear it again. Those wanting to take a trip down to memory lane, this looks like a with a narrator who isn´t actually annoying.
