Sorry, I don´t care at all for the theme. Plus I have some stuff to do, after basically having my life on halt for the last 12 days, in ever aspect except for film.

Fucking adorable: By Gentle Giants studio. Get them [here]. Gamercat pluche: Almost as cute as the chococat pluche I wanted. [Kickstarter] And a Hayao Miyazaki figure!? Available [here]

This talks a bit about the consequences for future projects: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/philip-seymour-hoffmans-death-future-676405

Mario SH Figurearts: As usual, I´m not fond of joints, so I´ll pass. Snorlax cushion pluche: Adorable.

I´m not going to watch any other trailers, but the first one had so much charm I can´t possibly imagine this film disappointing me. Very much looking forward to it.. Just 2 weeks left I think.

That´s a pretty shitty way to end my film festival.
-
Now the film festival is over, I can finally check up on other stuff.. Starting up Steam I see some interesting things: Deus Ex: human revolution director´s cut is the daily deal (€ 5,-). Get it if you don´t already own it. I see a free point & click adventure called Serena. I have no idea if it´s any good (haven´t heard of the title before now), but it´s free and only 300+ MB, so it can´t hurt to try. And a new free-to-play game which looks incredibly fun, which I´d be downloading if it weren´t for the 3rd person perspective (I simply can´t play 3PS shooters): Loadout. Also, I´m completely broke, otherwise I´d buy Strike Vector. I´m pretty sure I already mentioned it somewhere on this forum (perhaps this very thread). An arcady flight combat shooter thingy.

Amazing you can quickly improvise a cool little game like that. I would apologise for not sending in targets, but it genuinely was due to bad timing.

Actually Ellie´s voice actress is pretty cute. I saw her in Joss Whedon´s Much ado about nothing.

No, you´re missing my point, I don't hate the game, far from it, you can read my opinion in an old post above. My last post referred to the fact that the game was more expensive than regular (Nintendo) games because it included the expansion pack, a thing I didn´t need because I already had one. So I was paying for something I didn´t need but had no other option, because there was no release available without it.I had plenty of fun with the game itself. As I didn´t have a Super Nintendo at that time, Donkey Kong 64 was my first Rare Donkey Kong.

I just bought 38 film tickets (film festival coming up). This should also be on its way:

You know the thing I really, really hated? The fact it was more expensive because it included the expansion pack. Of course I already had one..

I´m looking at the details, it seems the tressfx feature was exclusive to the PC version up until the definitive version. That doesn´t makes me want the improvements from the definitive version any less though. Can´t a guy want it all? :P
-
It´s not, but it´s dependent on your exact hardware. These are technical graphical improvements. These are not inherent to the files on your gamedisc. The models will be exactly the same. The same number of polygons. Your quantum computer is not going to change that. If you play cracked console games on your PC, you get the same technical improvements, but the game will otherwise look the same. And I didn´t say they were going to release the definitive version on PC, that was exactly the problem, that they don't intend to. I was saying I wish they did, because that´s the version I´d want.
-
See, but that´s where you´re wrong. The versions will be generally the same. If you´re lucky, it is heavily improved. Only the studios with an actual PC background will go to such lengths. Generally it will only be slightly improved (i.e. a hi-res texture pack) or simply optimised. In some cases, when it´s a bad port, it will actually look and/or play worse. It´s sheer horse power that makes the PC version superior, higher resolutions, better AA, greater draw distance etc.. Those are things that scale depending on your hardware. Well, I belong to the minority who doesn´t care for discounts. Luckily I´m also incredibly patient. If I can´t afford something right now, I´ll wait. That it happens to be discounted by the time I can afford it, is just a bonus. If I can afford something right now, I´ll happily pay full retail price for it. The original game once had a full price as well (and in the case of Tomb Raider on Steam, still has actually).
-
Well obviously I agree that a PC version is usually better in most regards, but again, the PC can´t magically make up things that aren´t there. To give a stupid comparison, let´s pretend the original Star Wars trilogy is released in it´s special edition form, on DVD. The blu-ray will only get the trilogy in its original form (I wish). For the sake of argument, let´s pretend the special edition is the superior version. Blu-ray is the better media, but you´re stuck with the old version.. The blu-ray can´t show improved special effects that aren´t there. To give a closer analogy, let´s pretend Black Mesa gets a release on PS4 and Xbox 1, but not on PC. You´d still argue Half-Life is the definitive version? Now the difference between Tomb Raider original and Tomb Raider definitve may not be as big as that last example, but there´s a difference nonetheless, and for someone who doesn´t own the game yet, that´s the version I´d like to get.
-
No reason why the definitive version couldn´t be on sale. In fact, Square Enix often has some good deals I believe, independent from Steam sales. Looking at their site, I see Hitman absolution for € 5,-.
-
I prefer Sophia Myles to be honest.
-
Yeah but you see, if they release the definitve version on PC, you can have it all! Improved models and higher FPS and resolutions! Win win!
-
Yeah but greater resolutions won´t magically improve your models. And perhaps you´re right, maybe it doesn´t justify a re-release in itself, but for someone who doesn´t own the game yet, it´s obviously the version to get. At least, if they´ll release it. There is also no reason why they can´t offer the definitive version for a reasonable upgrade price to people who already own the game. I already owned Deus Ex human revolution, but I bought the upgrade to the director´s cut for 4 euros a few days ago. Both Square Enix, so this idea isn´t that farfetched actually.
-
Ehm yeah, well if you were town you´d actually know where to go next now wouldn´t you?

One person less to focus on in that vote list .
