  1. There's quite a bit to sort out, online yadda yadda... But for me the single most important issue that Nintendo need to address is their own software output, in terms of both quantity and consistency. They just haven't (for whatever reason) been supporting the Wii U anywhere near as well as they should have. It'd be less of an issue if the 3rd party situation wasn't as dire, but it is. And frankly Nintendo should know better by now that they simply can't rely on other developers to pick up the slack, they have to be able to adequately support their own hardware by themselves! What do I consider adequate? Well, the bare minimum would be one major/retail title from Nintendo (or a subsidiary) every month. There should never ever be a fucking 3 month gap between releases, like we're getting from DKCTF to MK8! Completely unacceptable, and to be honest, embarrassing. I think I'd have actually preferred for Nintendo to delay the launch of Wii U by a year or even 2, in order to be able to then follow a consistent release schedule.
  2. Sorry if I got your hopes up there, but I was actually referring to the same patch :heh:

No idea when/if it'll ever be finished, I just decided to get a copy of Captain Rainbow anyway. :hehe:

Now that I know you're also waiting for it though, I'll be sure to let you know if I see it's been released.

    : peace:

  3. Wii U: Got a couple of worlds to finish up on DKCTF to reach 100% and I finally ordered a copy of Sonic Lost World the other day too. Still using Wii Fit U and occasionally Art Academy. Now playing Time Trial mode on SMK as well. 3DS: Have a jam session on KORG M01D every so often. Very much looking forward to Tomodachi Collection, no idea if it'll hit before MK8 though... probably not. Definitely gonna get Nintendo Pocket Football Club in April, plus 3D OutRun (whenever that's coming out). PS3: I'm currently 40 hours into Dark Souls II, and reckon it'll take me another 20-30 to beat that game. Also got some PSN funds that I need to use at some point. PC: Not really playing anything on PC at the mo, other than the odd bit of AudioSurf. Some stuff I want to check out though, like Surgeon Simulator 2013, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Rock of Ages and Goat Simulator. iOS: There's always something to play in the fast food realm of gaming. Currently dipping into Plants vs. Zombies 2, Jetpack Joyride, Smash Hit and the port of Crazy Taxi. Wii: Well not yet, but I do have (fingers crossed) a copy of Captain Rainbow on its way to me from Japan, which I'm hoping to play at some point in the future using the English translation patch. So yeah, there's actually quite a lot on my gaming plate at the moment, despite Nintendo's best attempt at making me go on a diet.
  4. Yeah I know, I'm perhaps exaggerating a wee bit. But let's not forget the other negative point to this which I didn't really touch on before, and that's the time it takes for these alterations. Additional time for the devs to edit their games, and additional time for us to wait for games to be localised. I'd much rather they just do straight translations (even if some stuff is then a bit weird) if it means we get games sooner and more importantly that devs can move on to the next project quicker. Another good example yeah. I mean what the hell? Meh. Personally I don't see the issue, and I think Nintendo's "kiddy" reputation in the west has actually been hugely influenced by them doing this kind of stuff over the years. It appears that many of their games have subtle adult humour in them, which is then either toned down or completely removed from the western versions. I find it difficult to believe that any of those things that were changed in WarioWare: Twisted (like the drink and the guys in bed together) would have resulted in an increase to the games rating. But if it that is indeed the case, then it's the rating systems outside of Japan (PEGI, ESRB, OFLC etc..) that are in need of serious overhaul.
  5. It depends on the game I guess, but more often than not (especially with quirky stuff) they like to make lots of little changes during the localisation process. WarioWare: Twisted is a perfect example of this. So many pointless changes were made to that game it's unreal! Check this out: http://www.unseen64.net/2008/04/20/wario-twisted-vs-mawaru/ Yes the US version is still a great game and a lot of fun, but looking at some of those changes I'm truly confused as to why they were even done in the first place. I mean outside of the stuff that's understandable (like altering the Famicom to the NES etc.) the changes do nothing but kill the humor/vibe of the game. And I just hate it when the original vision of a game is changed into something else. Even if it's only a minuscule thing and even if the change is done by the same developer. Other examples I can think of would be... Princess and Bowser not drinking champagne on the victory screen in SMK. Ness wearing pajamas instead of being naked in EarthBound. The mermaid's bikini top being changed to a necklace in Link's Awakening. Small changes, but pointless and infuriating changes all the same. Here are some sites to check out for more info on this kind of stuff BTW: http://tcrf.net/The_Cutting_Room_Floor http://legendsoflocalization.com/
  6. Oh wow. Cheers for sharing @Dcubed. : peace: This has got to be close to getting released then... :yay: Also, has there been any mention of an American release? Major respect going out to Nintendo/NOE for hooking up Europe with this game though. And seemingly unchanged from the Japanese version. Ballsy move right there, really hope it pays off.
  7. notsureifserious.gif Seriously, you know you're playing a 22 year old SNES game right? I always thought (and still do, but I'm in love so ignore me ) that the graphics were stunning! Super colourful. Big chunky sprites that animate, rotate and scale smoothly. Environments influenced by the Super Mario World art style. And to top it off it all runs at a blistering speed, without any hiccups! :awesome: Climax is a funny one actually, all of the menus in that game are in English and there's voice-over (even in-game commentary) also in English! However, there is still a lot of Japanese text in the game too. There are character profile pages for all 38 pilots. And there's a story line section as well, which features over 50 unlockable panels. They contain stills from the F-Zero anime, and have loads and loads of Japanese text! Interestingly though, both of these text heavy parts of the game are tucked away in the option menu. Anyway, F-Zero Climax isn't really anything special (like GP Legends) but it's definitely worth it for the track editor, which is awesome!! *Hugs import copy*
  8. This is magnificent. They really do seem to be going for a basic translation job, which is absolutely fantastic, and just what I wanted! So yeah, not only will we be experiencing the game in its true form, it should also speed up the localisation process as they won't be faffing about with making unnecessary changes. Win-win. Can't wait! Gutted I didn't get sent that survey though.
  9. Can't. Stop. Smiling. I swear this game contains some kind of magic.
  10. Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this game too. Here's that link to the site: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-3DS-download-software/Nintendo-Pocket-Football-Club-852614.html : peace:
  11. Yay! : peace:
  12. I thought the 3DS Ambassador GBA games weren't going to be made available anywhere else though. Aww, Yeah! :awesome:Best game on the GBA for me, along with the sequel WarioWare: Twisted & Rhythm Tengoku. Heeeeeeey... If Nintendo wanted to be really cool, they should modify Twisted to work with the gyroscope of the Wii U GamePad and finally get it released in Europe.
  13. And the intro: :awesome:
  14. Yep. There's a funny moment in one of the WarioWare D.I.Y. tutorials that mentions making sure you properly check for bugs before shipping your games, to avoid having to recall it and damage sales. But it's clearly something that Nintendo have always taken very seriously and still do. Hmm... Smash Bros. MK8. And... Yeah, gonna need another clue for that last one.
  15. Starting from the very begining?! Weren't you like 30 or so hours into the game already? Anyway, good luck. Hopefully it is 3rd time lucky.
  16. I'm still curious as to how this is going to play on 3DS. I can't get my head around doing smash attacks with the circle pad, it doesn't really feel right. I'll no doubt be spending much more time with the Wii U version, and probably shouldn't bother with the 3DS one, but I want to check out the exclusive stuff.
  17. You should jump straight into Dark Souls II, I reckon you'd love it. It's got the same clunky but strategic gameplay that Monster Hunter has. You need to keep an eye on your stamina and health at all times, get too greedy with your attacks and it's game over. Just like MH it's very challenging, but also a lot of fun.
  18. That's part of what gives the game its charm. You're supposed to be annoyed by the CPU karts, they want you to hate them! And they are what separates the men from the boys in SMK. You either complain and give up, or you keep practicing and improve your driving skill to the level where the CPU can't even touch you! Like this: :awesome: We've discussed this before, H-o-T. But for the benefit of @Blade and anyone else that hasn't played SMK before... OK, so depending on which character you pick, the game will assign 2 of the remaining characters to be your main rivals. For example, if you pick Mario then your rivals will be Donkey Kong Jr. and Princess. If you pick Luigi it'll be Mario and Yoshi. Peach will get Bowser and Toad, etc... These 2 rival karts will be complete and utter bastards. Always on your tail when you're in the lead, and if you do manage to take one of 'em out with an attack, they will speed up like crazy in order to catch up to you. To keep being your rival. They (and the other CPU opponents) also have access to special attacks which the player does not, and they ain't shy about using them! Princess Peach and Toad will try to shrink you with Poison Mushrooms. Yoshi will use his Eggs. Bowser chucks Fireballs. Mario & Luigi have an infinite amount of Invincibility Stars. And the same applies to DK Jr. & Koopa Troopa, but with Bananas and Green Shells respectively. Most of these attacks are very predictable though. The map screen will switch to a rear view mirror when an attack is incoming, giving you ample chance to avoid it. And when a rival who's ahead of you is attacking, you can see it a few seconds in advance. The worst one is Mario & Luigi's Invincibility, because they just come out of nowhere without any waring sign. So yeah, it's always best to steer clear of them as a rule of thumb. Many people consider the above as cheating AI, but I think it's one of the things that makes the game so great, and so funny. I wouldn't call you wrong (everyone's entitled to their opinion) but you're wrong, very wrong.
  19. 50cc is easy peasy.100cc isn't too bad. 150cc?... Well, let's just say that you wouldn't want to be playing it with the GamePad. I'd recommend using a Classic/Pro controller instead, just in case. But yeah, out of all the MK games, SMK is definitely the one that requires the most skill to master. The CPU karts on 150cc are insane. They'll be on your tail the entire time, so any mistakes you make will really hurt. And items won't help you out as much as they can in modern MK titles either, there's generally a lot less luck involved. I definitely think you should give it a try though, Blade (obviously I'm biased, but whatever ) especially if your main reason for not, is just the graphics.
  20. Oh come on, don't do this to me.
  21. Good luck with that. Never forget... I can't wait to see what gems the SMK Miiverse community will produce. Complaints about the difficulty are guaranteed! :awesome:
  22. Yes!
  23. Yeah, I mean they probably don't want to be releasing it too close to MK8. But having said that, if we're going to be seeing Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Yarn Yoshi, X and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem this year as well, then they're going to need to get it released as soon as possible. Unless of course Nintendo are planning to cram everything in to the last two months of the year, as usual.
  24. I still reckon there's a pretty good chance of that. And it would definitely help Nintendo at E3 if they ended their press conference or Nintendo Direct (or whatever the hell they're gonna do this year) with... "Surprise! Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS is available right now!" :awesome:
  25. Congrats. New Game+? :p
