#12 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Rhythm Paradise DS)
RedShell replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The brilliance of this game (and the entire Rhythm Tengoku/Paradise series) cannot be conveyed by mere words. Good job too or this would be a long post. But at the end of the day, if you value happiness, laughter and fun, you'll get a major kick out of Rhythm Paradise. If you don't... Well play it anyway, it'll sort you out. @Fused King, remember this vid? Posted that in the Rhythm Paradise thread back in 2008. Anyway, when I went to grab the link again to post it in here, I stumbled across this: Absolutely incredible!! That girl's on an express trip to superstardom! :awesome: And she owes it all to Rhythm Paradise! -
Man, I'm getting myself so hyped compiling the official thread. This game really is going to be something very special indeed. The league is gonna to be incredible this year I reckon. Not that it hasn't been before, but the antics/pro skills of N-E members combined with the sheer awesomeness of MK8... daaaaaaamn.

I actually cleared @Hero\-of\-Time said, there's no point in playing a game you don't enjoy. I've never been a fan of buying multiple games in close succession either, I'd much rather focus on a single game and finish that before moving on to another. Back when I had a backlog, I'd sometimes use the Fortune Cookie option on The Backloggery. Have you got a Backloggery account, / nando /? If not you should get one and try it out! : peace:

I'm not all that clued-up on bendable screen tech, but I take it they suffer from the same glare issues as flat screens, right? See I've heard this a lot, but having recently spent quite a bit of time using an iPad mini (apps and gaming) I'm not sure if I agree. Yes you get a few occasions where it doesn't recognise your input, or just does something weird. But it's actually pretty solid I reckon. And of course if it was part of a Nintendo device, there would still be the traditional directional controls/buttons for precision purposes. I definitely think they should look into it at least. Price will probably be the biggest problem though.
-
I really hope they keep the dual screen setup too (not really bothered about 3D) but it's probably time to lose the stylus now. Yeah, they should go with a capacitive touchscreen next time, and make both screens touch screens! The other thing I'd like them to keep is the clamshell design. It's an effective way of keeping the screens in good shape (other than that issue with the original 3DS ) helps keep dust out of the controls, and is generally more pocket friendly. And last but by no means least, use the anti-glare tech of the 3DSXL again, but improve it even more. A lot more actually. Yeah, that's still my biggest pet peeve with portable devices (across all hardware manufacturers) the screens can be so bloody difficult to see outdoors! I actually wouldn't be against the idea of Nintendo's next handheld featuring a monochrome screen like the kindle! Imagine it, a super advanced successor to the original Game Boy, with a screen you could see perfectly even in direct sunlight!
-
That's the idea yeah, nothing will be spoiler tagged in the other thread. And everything that's currently known about the game so far is going to be listed in the opening post. Well lots of people will still be able to produce actual videos of MKTV action by using a capture device. :awesome: But yeah, it would be cool if there was some kind of video exporting option for everyone. My guess is they'll let you upload to YouTube or something like that.

MK8 features many of the regular items from the MK series, but also adds several new items! The game also features an interesting new mechanic (for modern MK at least) whereby it's no longer possible to stockpile items, instead players can only have a single item equipped/in their inventory at a time! This will make defensive play a little bit trickier, but should also mean much more exciting races! All of the items that appear in MK8 (what's been revealed/discovered so far) can be seen bellow, along with a history of which other MK games they've featured in: The new items: Boomerang Flower – Gives you 3 boomerangs to throw, they can be thrown backwards or forwards. Piranha Plant – Lunges out at other players or items, which also gives a slight speed boost. 8 – ??? Speculation is that it will function similarly to the Lucky 7 of MK7, but obviously with 8 items instead. Speaker box – ??? In MK8 players will be able to choose from Karts, Bikes and now ATVs! Vehicle colouring and decals are once again determined by character choice, and customisation also returns, with interchangeable parts like tyres and gliders. Vehicle modifications are expected to alter your stats, just like in MK7. Confirmed so far: Mario Luigi Princess Peach Yoshi Bowser Donkey Kong Toad Koopa Troopa Princess Daisy Toadette Wario Waluigi Rosalina Baby Mario Baby Luigi Baby Peach Baby Daisy Shy Guy Lakitu Metal Mario And joining those characters for the first time ever in a Mario Kart game are... The Koopalings! Yeah, all of 'em!! Larry Koopa Morton Koopa Jr. Wendy O. Koopa Iggy Koopa Roy Koopa Lemmy Koopa Ludwig von Koopa This brings the current playable character total in MK8 up to 27! That's already the largest roster of any game in the history of MK, and it's very likely to increase, with several characters from previous games still a possibility and Miis are almost certain to feature as well. MK8 continues the long running tradition of featuring 32 tracks spread over 8 different cups. 16 newly designed and 16 returning retro tracks from previous MK games are included. They are as follows: Mushroom Cup Mario Kart Stadium Water Park Sweet Sweet Canyon Thwomp Ruins Flower Cup Mario Circuit Toad Harbor Twisted Mansion Shy Guy Falls Star Cup Sunshine Airport Electrodrome ??? ??? Special Cup ??? ??? Cloudtop Cruise Rainbow Road Unassigned Tracks Bone Dry Ruins Dolphin Shoals And on the retro side: Shell Cup Wii Moo Moo Meadows GBA Mario Circuit DS Cheep Cheep Beach N64 Toad’s Turnpike Banana Cup GCN Dry Dry Desert SNES Donut Plains 3 N64 Royal Raceway 3DS DK Jungle Leaf Cup ??? ??? ??? ??? Lightning Cup DS Tick Tock Clock N64 Rainbow Road ??? ??? Unassigned Tracks Wii Grumble Volcano 3DS Music Park 3DS Piranha Plant Pipeway Unannounced Tracks N64 Yoshi Valley GCN Sherbet Land Even though it's not up to much in MK8, the GamePad is still being put to use for a few things: Race standings. Also shows what items other players currently have. Toot toot! Off-TV play. The icon always features a live feed of the TV picture. Tapping here will expand it to fill the GamePad screen. Toggle map. Replaces the horn with a larger version of the map, also expands the standings section to show player names. Switch to motion control on the fly. MKTV is a new feature in MK8 that will allow players to edit and share video replays of their gameplay! The feature hasn't been shown in any detail as of yet, but it is known that players will have several options to generate videos, such as choosing camera angles, following specific characters or focusing on certain moments like item usage or stunts. More information regarding this feature will appear here once it's available. To voice chat or not to voice chat? :p Very little is currently known about the online functionality of MK8. 12 player online racing is confirmed, as are custom communities, but there's still a lot left to be revealed. Stay tuned... But what if Lylat Wars was an 80+ hour game, and Peppy said "do a barrel roll!" literally every five seconds?
-
Not sure to be honest, but I was Lv81 when I finished the game and my play time was 76 hours. Didn't bother with a lot of the sidequests though, so yeah... you've probably got a long way to go yet. You don't have the voices set to English do you?! I had to switch to Japanese very early on in the game, and never switched back. "It's Reyn time!" "It's Reyn time!" "It's Reyn time!" "It's Reyn time!"... No, no it bloody ain't ya bastard.

Smash is the most anticipated Wii U game, post-Smash?

Say what now? You're probably right actually, but it's certainly not my most anticipated Wii U game. I still want it, obviously.

What Would You Change About Nintendo/With Nintendo?
RedShell replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Oh man, I'd completely forgotten about TVii. -
Got a shitload of different rings, but don't think I have that one, no. Ah! Is that what the game is on about when it says produce the mark of the king? Seen that message appear a couple of times (can't even remember where now) but just ignored it and explored somewhere else. Oh well, I'll figure it out... hopefully. I figured that would be the case. Hopefully there aren't any giant spiders down there.
-
So I defeated that bloody spider boss last night. Man, that was not cool. *shivers* Didn't have a clue where to go next (as usual ) but remembered there were areas in the Shaded Woods that I couldn't access before, so I went back there. Managed to open one of the doors that was locked earlier, and ended up at Dragon Castle. This looks suspiciously like the final area of the game, also the level-up woman from Majula was there saying something along the lines that I wasn't ready to proceed, but could if I wanted to. That didn't exactly fill me with confidence, so think I'm gonna try the hole in Majula (still not gone down there) next time I play instead.
-
Just checked out a vid after seeing your post, it does look pretty fun. Not sure if you're able to answer this (don't worry if not) but is there an endless version of Dedede's Drum Dash? Still not sure if I'm gonna try and squeeze this game in before MK8. Probably not though, as I reckon Pocket Football Club and Mario Golf will be keeping me busy until then. Kirby is definitely on the to buy list though, ready to suck me through potential future droughts!
-
Oh yeah.
-
How many hours on the clock? I'm approaching 50 hours and currently have 10 boss souls plus 2 of the red boss souls. On my last session I ended up in a place that was full of giant spiders/spider people, which isn't cool with me being a bit of an arachnophobe. Made it to a huge cobwebbed area full of the bastards with a mist door. Can anyone tell me if I need to go through that mist in order to finish the game? Please say no.

Y'all ignoring me or something? ˅˅˅

Metroid Fusion is in colour, but Advance Wars and Mario & Luigi are both black and white.
