  1. And button mashing. Yep, my copy arrived today as well. ShopTo on top form. The back of the box is just as spectacular as the front, if not more so: And some entertaining moments from the game/manual: Hilarious. Nice Engrish too. But yeah, so far this game has been pretty damn terrible. The frame rate is all over the place, in both 2D and 3D. And the gameplay is super shallow. It literally seems to be a case of just mashing the Y & X buttons (weak/powerful attack) and occasionally hitting A to target midair enemies in order to continue your Y/X button mashing combo. There are some special moves you can perform after a while by pressing L+Y, but yeah... very basic combat at the moment. Early days though, so hopefully there's a bit more depth to be uncovered as characters level up and the "story" progresses. But I'm not optimistic. At least there's a lot to laugh at in the game, but that's probably not going to be enough for most people to justify a purchase.
  2. Absolutely. Especially considering we're both over 30. I bet everyone else in the top 100 is a teenager. N-E Team Cranky, keeping the dream alive!
  3. You're right, it does look like tapedeck's DK touches the barrel first! : Mental. No probs, it had to be done. As for the pogo jump up to that high ledge, it took me ages to get it right (still can't pull it of consistently) but I found that it helps to push the analog stick slightly to the right when approaching the edge. It kind of pushes DK/Cranky on to it. : peace:
  4. Yeah, I'm planning to do league highlight vids again. Very. You just hook it up to PC via USB, open up the recording software and hit record. The picture still passes through to your TV too, so you can game on there while it's recording/streaming. :awesome: I got it on an Amazon flash sale, think it was £70. They currently go for £115 though.
  5. Using a Hauppauge capture device. It's one of the older models, but still works pretty well.
  6. OK, I checked out your replay @tapedeck and that was just too awesome not to do this: It's a bit choppy in places, don't think my PC likes running 2 HD vids simultaneously. We go both go in and out of the lead quite a bit throughout that run, you're leading right at the start (after the swimming part) and before the barrel blast section too. Think you might be on the final stretch as well, but then you make a mistake on the last spike pit! Check out the slowmo replay at the end of the vid though, you miss out by a frame... a single frame. : peace:
  7. Wow. That is insane. Awesome stuff, tapedeck. Damn, I gotta get back to that run then, as it's only a matter of time... You're spot-on about the depth of the gameplay too, it's actually astonishing what can be done in Time Attack. Check out the world number 1 replay on 1-K, it's something else.
  8. No worries. Speaking of sounding good, the music in this game really is top-notch. But unfortunately there's not much of it. This is still definitely my favourite tune: Anyway, just to update on the post-game stuff, 1 word will describe it perfectly, and that word is Grinding. Yep, that's basically what you need to do once the Evil Lord has been defeated with all the main characters, because...
  9. I got them for 100 or so stages before learning that the reward for all rainbow stars was Sweet F.A. so I kind of lost the motivation at that point.
  10. Oh no! I'll never get to play the rest of the game if this continues.
  11. My copy has been dispatched! :awesome: Wednesday GET? Which of you pervs guys are getting this?
  12. You underestimate the 'last bonus stupid thing', especially if you're going for 3/Rainbow stars. But anyway, nice one on getting DK. Enjoy! : peace:
  13. Only on a few stages so far, I'll go back and collect the rest after I beat the game. So yeah, not done any K stages yet. Looking forward to 'em though, they sound brutal. Do they also feature Time Attack mode? Please say no.
  14. Ah yeah, it's probably the same deal with this game.
  15. I was at the same point last night, and also planning to leave the world 4 boss for today, but after 2 hours of replaying 1-1 I wanted to see something different so took it on there and then. It's actually a much quicker boss to beat than any of the previous ones, or it felt like it at least. Are the gold medals on Time Attack part of getting 100%? To be honest, I can't see myself getting gold on every stage either, some of them are quite difficult to even complete, let alone speed run.
  16. "FUCKING GET IN THERE!!!!" I literally shouted that just now, having spent around 2 hours trying to beat your time on 1-1 @tapedeck. This game + online leaderboards/replays = digital crack. And damn, you weren't kidding about the blisters.
  17. Interesting idea. It'd be funny if at E3 Nintendo suddenly announced a shitload of new games and 3rd party devs came back in full force, meaning you'd have way too many games to play. No need to worry about that though.
  18. For sure. Still lot of games for me to check out on that. Might get Dark Souls II next month as well, just trying to work out if it's something I'd enjoy. The first game was recommended to me, but I never got around to playing it so figured I'd wait for the sequel anyway. Yeah, I mean it's not so much about noticing the drought, just that I'm utterly amazed Nintendo got themselves in this situation in the first place.
  19. Now that DKCTF has been spoiler tagged in to the history books looking at the list really shows just how dire the situation is. 94 days to go until MK8 and not one other confirmed Wii U retail release before or even after that. Absolutely crazy. I honestly never thought the Wii U would find itself in this position, certainly not in the first few years at least. Nintendo fucked up so bad it's unreal.
  20. Nice one! Looking forward to taking that on. I haven't played this very much recently, been addicted to Weapon Shop on 3DS. Plus I really want to try and make DKCTF last as long as possible, until around... I dunno, May?
  21. Plus there are still a few collectables to obtain and quests to beat. And even just going back and creating master versions of weapons (only managed 1 so far) or weapons with special attributes/attacks is fun. So there's probably a few more hours left in the game before everything is 100% complete, or I get bored. Yep, not sure exactly how much more, but will keep you posted. Someone replied to my Miiverse post with: Hopefully they're right. As the game was never really difficult at all, and I only ever lost a few weapons (aka failed quest) in my entire playthrough up to the Evil Lord.
  22. Defeated the Evil Lord! Well, the weapon that I made did. Gameplay time to do so was just under 9 hours.
  23. Yeah, the writing is brilliant. Caught this on the Grindcast earlier which really made me laugh: I normally forge any weapons that I don't have in stock (not anymore though, as I've now made all the ones that are currently available ) or polish weapons in between customers. It's amazing how such monotonous activities can be so enjoyable, but I really do enjoy playing this game. Up to level 7 weapons now, and the crafting process is getting a bit more complex, which is good. I hope it reaches a point where it becomes a struggle to keep the metal heated while still accurately timing/placing your hits. I've also noticed that the Evil Lord progress bar is almost full! Gonna be interesting to see what happens.
  24. It's in another vid: I'd forgotten how messed up the engine was in that game.
