US Presidential Election 2016 - Nightmare Mode
Glen-i replied to gaggle64's topic in General Chit Chat
Hey guys, come on. At least us British are no longer the dopeyist country this year. Silver lining and all that. Incredibly flimsy silver lining, but still... You know what, I think I'll play some Disaster: Day of Crisis, the America in that is much more appealing! I did just read that one of the most popular Google Searches by Americans is "How do I emigrate?" -
US Presidential Election 2016 - Nightmare Mode
Glen-i replied to gaggle64's topic in General Chit Chat
That is not the news I wanted to wake up to... Who's ready for "Brexit 2: The Americanism"? -
You totally walked into that, only got yourself to blame.

When it comes to Game Freak, anything's possible. Except decent 3D. I imagine it's something to do with the pre-loading thing.
-
Absolutely spot on. From a Business standpoint, that's laughable. Not every IP does as well as Splatoon, that's the exception to the norm.

See, that's interesting. In Wii, my main issue was that it was pretty much impossible to catch first place about half way through the first lap. Anyone even remotely competent getting into first would pretty much win the race if they got there. It was a complete crapshoot on that first item block, followed by a boring cruise to first place (Because you had plenty of protection with two items) or a more interesting, but ultimately doomed fight in the middle. I can't speak for the MKWii era here, but the league nights nowadays are very unpredictable and fun. You've gotta embrace the unfair moments, because they're really just very funny. Oh, and the star really only shines in 8 when used to cut corners. So I agree on that front.
-
That's a really cool idea. It would have to be reasonably common in second place or less and be instant/unbreakable, otherwise you could just throw a shell forward to stop it. Then again, you'd never hit an item like that with a banana. So it might force First Placers to risk getting an item like the coin if it meant you might get a shell.
-
Dayum! That's cold. Even for you.
-
I'm gonna go with "Eh?"
-
For me, that all hinges on how the dual item system is implemented. I swear if you can hold a shell, etc. behind you while keeping a second item in tow, then the balance is right back to bloody square one again!

Don't worry, I would never think you were ignoring me. Even if you flat out said "Glen, I'm ignoring you", I'd pause for a bit before thinking, "Nah, you're not actually ignoring me though" But I know that pain. My weekdays are unfortunately pretty much taken up because of my job. (What do you mean my free time would be taken up!? I never signed up for that!) Anyway, see you at 7! I'll see if Ugh First Aid will help us out. EDIT: I'm opening a room now, join in whenever you're ready.

Well, you know what they say about what to do when you don't succeed at first. That's right, keep whining until you get your way! So yeah, I would like to butcher monsters from 6pm to 9pm tonight. (Or earlier, I'm not fussy) Would either of you be up for that, @S\.C\.G?

First console I played was @Dcubed's Super Nintendo at the age of 3. I played Super Mario World. I was awful, but now I'm awesome at Mario! First console I owned was the Massive Hulking Brick, otherwise known as the Game Boy, at the age of 5. I got it with Tetris. I was awful, but now I'm... Still awful.
-
Would you describe it as Mario being much more accessible than Zelda? Because this is absolutely true. It's much easier to get into Mario than it is to get into Zelda. It's much more of a time commitment.
-
Did Genesect come out before Meloetta? I forgot about that. That makes sense.
-
Cheers for the hunts last night, @S\.C\.G be up for some hunting at 8 tonight? If we can get 3 of us together, I'd like to attempt Hyper Silver Rathalos.
-
8 sounds great! See you then.
-
@S\.C\.G and @RedShell, if the both of you are up for it tonight, perhaps I can finally get my Falchion from Hyper Silver Rathalos!

I don't think I like your tone, missy. Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past came out on the 3DS just under 2 months ago. It is a remake of the 2000 Playstation title Dragon Warrior VII, which never came out in Europe. Like all Dragon Quest games, it is a traditional turn-based RPG. The story follows some bloke who's a fisherman's son. He's friends with the Prince of the nearby town of Estard. This Prince is keen on sailing away from the island he lives on, because for some reason, it's the only island in the world. And it's not exactly big. So he and main character has been working on a ship, and it's almost done, until local nag and secret best character in the game, Maribel busts them and demands to go with them. The game's story is set up very strangely. There basically isn't a story for about three quarters of the game. Instead there's a whole bunch of smaller stories that sooner or later culminates in a finale. I likened it to a Saturday morning cartoon at one point. One particular feature I liked is "Party Chat", where you can ask your fellow party members for their opinion on what's happening. It's mostly used to remind you what you need to do. But I used it to get Maribel's opinion. Because she is a constant source of brilliant whining and pointing out how useless you are. View post in Miiverse Gameplay wise, the Dragon Quest series really does stick to it's roots, and this game is no different. It's as old-school RPG as you can get, and I'm totally OK with that. It's nice to play something like this now and again in a world of action RPG's like Xenoblade and the upcoming Final Fantasy XV. The game revolves around a class system. Basically speaking, you can change your class to whatever you want really. Magic caster, healer, brute force attacker, stuff like that. It provides quite a bit of customisation, which is welcome. As you progress and master multiple classes, you unlock more advanced classes with better stats and skills, etc. One new feature for the 3DS version are Monster Vocations. Which are a whole bunch of new classes that turn your character into one of the many monsters you encounter in the game. You get these by finding various Monster Hearts. Naturally, this provides even more freedom in customisation and it is entertaining to run around the overworld as a hulking great Golem! It's a very solid RPG. But if I had to point out something, it's that there is some noticable lag when navigating the menus. There were a few moments when I pressed the D-pad and nothing happened. A bit irritating, but nothing truly ruinous. The graphics are quite different to the original Playstation version. Now pay attention. It might be hard to see the differences unless you look really hard. It's a very nice looking 3DS game. Nothing amazing, but it gets the job done. The 3D is very nice too. Stuff really pops out! The soundtrack is certainly good to listen to as well. Although for some reason, they re-recorded the whole thing for us Westerners. Can't understand why they bothered though. Very bizarre. All in all, Dragon Quest VII is a very enjoyable RPG. I'm pretty new to the series, what with the DS game, Dragon Quest IX being my first foray into it. And while I prefer IX, VII was very enjoyable. And I'm very much looking forward to VIII, which just got a release date announced. Creepy timing that. Well, it would be creepy if I didn't already know that I'm being spied on by at least 3 game companies. It's alright, I've accepted it at this point. Geez @Dcubed. Reading through that makes it all sound terribly sneaky. It sounds like they're trying to get people on some kind of drug. Perhaps a super drug? One that makes you feel all big and stuff. It's a genius idea, but I don't know whether to applaud that or lambast it...
-
So TPC goes ahead and says "Screw Pokedex order and screw Meloetta! We want Genesect out now!" And so it was. You can get Genesect at your local, and no doubt awful, GAME shop.
-
You're not doing it through a Friend room? Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't any random schmo just join in if you use a Tournament? Or can you set some kind of password system? And doesn't that give a massive advantage to those who have loads of free time?
-
I've never been terribly keen on guessing a lineup of a console, but if there's one thing I'm confident about, it's this. WiiU ports. WiiU ports up the wazzoo! The WiiU has a solid selection of games that it would be an awful shame to leave behind. I'd be very surprised if porting Smash 4 isn't high on Ninty's to do list.
-
Sorry dude, @Serebii beat you to it a few posts ago. Gotta get that Carbos down your throat!
-
So Breath of the Wild won't count as a WiiU game, huh? (Yes, I know the title says 2016) 5. Super Smash Bros. for WiiU Mario there, making sure no future Koopalings can ever happen. Who doesn't like a bit of Smash? Well, I sure do. The mechanics have never been better, it has a roster that defies belief (No, seriously. How did Cloud get in again?) and an online infrastructure that's actually decent! It might have gotten higher on my list if it was the 3DS version though. Oh, and seeing as it's me and Smash, I might as well beat @RedShell to the punch this time.
