  1. Honestly, Bravely Default's battle system is so good, that it carries both it and Bravely Second for me. So provided it's just as solid (while throwing in some new jobs to mess around with), I'll probably enjoy it. I mean, yeah, with Pokémon possibly ditching turn-based and Final Fantasy already booting it out as well, big turn based games are slowly dwindling. Thankfully, Bravely Default has scratched the FF itch (It might as well be called "New Final Fantasy"). It makes me sad how hard staples in the genre are dropping it. It seems only Dragon Quest and indies are keeping it going.
  2. I'm so in! Screw your crummy Open-World nonsense (it doesn't even have a new set of starters, for crying out loud), give me that Link's Awakening style turn based RPG goodness! My only concern is the possible regression back to older mechanics and whether Platinum content gets in.
  3. Over the past decade, I've discovered what the level of open world-ness I can tolerate in a game before I get unbelievably bored. If it's more open than, say, Xenoblade Chronicles (not X), then I'm skipping this. Because if Zelda can't stop me falling asleep, there's no way in hell Pokémon can make Open-World games engaging. EDIT: Boy, those snippets of gameplay do not fill me confidence. Looks so dull and empty.
  4. Unless some outsourcing shenanigans have been going on (Doubtful of that...), I highly doubt Game Freak have developed two mainline games since Sword/Shield came out!
  5. Considering the thread we're in, that's not a hope, that's desperation. Also, screw you! If Mystery Dungeon bollocks happens, I'm happy dancing all over this page.
  6. Genuinely intrigued by what could be shown here. Outside of New Pokémon Snap, we have nothing on what's happening over the year. Exciting! But also nerve wracking!
  7. I'm interested, but I'm gonna wait for some impressions first. Unlike Hyrule Warriors, I know basically nothing about Persona 5 outside anything that's in Smash Ultimate, so it's gotta be solid.
  8. Galar's based on the UK, Brexit was in the news constantly when Sword/Shield released and it was the first mainline Pokémon game since Ruby/Sapphire where you couldn't transfer any Pokémon you liked, meaning it's impossible to get a full National Pokedex in it. Calling it anything else would've just looked silly.
  9. Is that the same thing as a Vincent Price Point?
  10. Because those games deserve better than a remake that actually had less going for it than a GBA remake?
  11. See, that's really cool and all, but now I'm just wondering if Timber always had these time travelling powers? Does he actually come from an apocalyptic future where Wizpig rules the world with an iron fist, which forced him to use said powers to go back in time and enlist Diddy, Banjo and Conker to help change history... By method of light-hearted races, because that solves everything, apparently. Although this would defo lend credence to the whole "Tricky from Diddy Kong Racing is descended from Tricky from Star Fox Adventures" thing. These are all very important questions.
  12. Sick! With my newly acquired Gamecube collection of Tony Hawk games, this will plug up the gap at the beginning beautifully!
  13. I think Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair has some good water levels. Mainly because the controls don't inhibit your movement. I remember Rayman having a similar method.
  14. Could it be...?
  15. Next time, make a profile for him.
  16. Not anymore, they're Galoombas now. I quite like that retcon.
  17. Oooh. That's an interesting take on it. The Kirby games are not shy about radically shifting/reshaping planets for all sorts of reasons. Real talk though, Kirby universe can't be the same as that one, because Shiver Star's inhabitants moved away somewhere, while I think we all know what happened to the other version.
  18. I mean, there's only so many times I can post that screenshot of the Secret of Mana intro. It wouldn't be as bad if the suggestion from Labour of vaccinating Teachers was taken up, but we can't be having suggestions from the opposition actually being considered now, can we? Makes me sick... We can only hope that the combination of the vaccine and this more cautious easing will be effective enough to prevent another ridiculous spike. But of course, some Tories are pulling a Sonic and constantly spamming the "You're too slow!" taunt in Smash Brawl.
  19. I mean, you could just, you know, not play it anymore?
  20. Welp, that's a nope then. I look forward to seeing you all at the now inevitable "K.Rool costume convention" next year.
  21. Is it because the Koopa Troopas suddenly start walking upright? I had a similar reaction when I first played Mario Galaxy and the Koopa Troopas suddenly went back to being quadrupedal again. But it was the first time we ever saw that in 3D and it felt weird.
  22. This is Gaming Questions That Don't Matter. My attempt at getting clarity in the almost infinite expanse of my head when it comes to the conundrums that most definitely will not get an official answer. This week, I'm focusing on the Kirby series, which, to be honest, is quite thorough with it's lore management. Ever since Kirby's Adventure Wii, there's been a steady building of the Kirby universe which had left me with almost no questions that I can confidently say won't get an answer in the future. The key word there is "almost". There is one thing that's puzzled me ever since I played Kirby 64. This is Shiver Star, it's level 5 of the game, don't you know? And it's your typical icy world that you see in most platformers. Except for when it becomes a factory based world. That's kinda weird. And then Kirby fights a giant mech. That just screams "Ice World", doesn't it? According to the Japanese Nintendo website, Shiver Star was once inhabited, but those inhabitants moved away for some reason, leaving behind buildings and factories that still function when Kirby rolls in. Anyway, look back at the first picture I posted again. Maybe I'm seeing things, but I'm getting the strangest hint of what looks like America on that planet. I think I've spelt it out at this point, so I'll cut to the chase. Is Shiver Star actually the planet Earth some time in the future as it's going through some kind of Ice Age?
  23. I'm concerned.
  24. Yep, Kingdom Hearts 1 just feels bad to play these days. Especially after playing later entries where the mechanics get more polished. It's typical for a first installment, though. So I can kinda forgive it. Helps that the plot isn't completely insane at this point.
