HMV = the worst f**king retailer in Britain

Im sick of these fools, absolutely sick of them.

We are less than THREE WEEKS from the wiis launch and HMV oxford st (yes that BIG store) are STILL UNABLE to confirm

1) how many wiis they are getting and if those (like myself) who have preordered will get one at launch

2) whether they will have a midnight opening event

Every other major retailer has let their pre order customers know where they stand, HMV however were quick to take the £30 deposit and cant be arsed to provide us with any more info since.

My retailer, Game Mania, is the largest game retailer in Belgium. In Genk we have the largest store in Belgium (the best selling, at least). They didn't have a comfirmed number either. Still, I'm not worrieing. Why are you guys all hacking on this type of thing? You're really losing it a little to much. Don't be a child and blame Nintendo for this, because I believe Nintendo doesn't have numbers either, or refused to give them now. Now let's stop being so angry. I know other retailers got their numbers, but maybe the other retilaers just didn't. And even if they dide, they'll tell you in time. just don't be a cry-baby. And for a midnight-launch, what's up with that? We never have any in Belgium and we ain't angry about it. Because we have frickin' patience for a thing, and a certain logic. We have to work on fridays, you see?

Now. Stop. Complaining.

That is what you get for going with a non game specialist retailer.

Also calm the hell down.

I don't have a pre-order yet and I won't start worrying until 5 days before the system launches.

Midnight openings are being advised against except for press events because the risk of mugging.

I wouldn't hesitate to threaten someone for a PS3 given the chance

right as ive said god knows how many times, i work for HMV, and we still do not know how many we are getting at all, not even a clue and last time I checked we had taken 49 preorders and counting... and still taken £30 deposits, which does suck completely I know.

Your best bet is to ring the customer services and make a complaint to find out. we've tried finding out from our head office and they can't give us any idea at all, it is stupid i'll admit.

ring the customer services the number is:

EDIT

doing the maths we will never get that consoles. there are atleast 200 stores (it is closer to 250) if every store got that many thats 9800, i can't see us getting that many if play couldn't fulfill 7000 or even close to if you believe the rumours.

2ND EDIT

would also so they aren't the worst retailer in the country, (one of very few high street to be making an operating profit in the current climate,) they must be doing something good

Topic title is well OTT.........but I can understand why you must be concerned. If you were one of the first to put the £30 down for a console in that said store, then you should be fine.

HMV's prices online were brilliant the other week, and I think they still retain some of the cheaper ones around. Definitely not that bad.

I know why your company makes a profit, it charges £17 for albums that are 5 years old! Anywhere else charges normal amounts. Only the chart stuff gets sold at a normal price. About the Wii thing, i'd just pray to god that i got one. I pre-ordered with GAME, as i was confident they wouldn't let me down.

Firstly, my beef is with the massive OXFORD ST HMV store in London. NOT the website.

Okay - im mad, so deeming HMV 'the worst retailer' was obviously OTT.

However I am pissed because EVERY ONE I KNOW who has placed a wii order elsewhere knows (at this stage) what position they are in. These people are planning what games to buy and what accessories because they know they are getting a wii on dec 8th. HMV are leaving its customers hanging, no one knows. Its no good telling me 2 or 3 days before launch as I will have no backup options. If HMV tell me dec 8th that I didnt get a Wii, I will be unlikely to see one before xmas.

they don't actually charge these higher prices now... we have recently launch our welsh dragon pricing scheme means we don't charge more that £13 for CD for £16 for DVD.

and anyway you don't have to shop there...if everyone thought it was a rip off they wouldn't make a profit...

Called them. Useless.

They are 'not in a position to comment about orders, stock allocations or other retailers (by way of comparison'

They suggested I write into head office and complain. Yeah right?! The Wii will be released before I get a response.

Muppets.

I have no idea what position I'm in after ordering online with game. so yea, calm down, just put a refundable prorder down somewhere else just in case.

Yes you do. GAME have already informed sucessful customers, so you can consider yourself either a) uncertain or b) unsucessful. Considering GAME have already sent letters to sucessful customers and you have not recieved one, you are in a position to make a backup pre order before it is too late. What HMV are doing are leaving its customers hanging, and by the time they make any announcements, it WILL be too late for those who are unsucessful.

to be fair if you are unsuccessful at all, your not gonna be guranteed now, no matter who you buy off.

HMV are a rip off when it comes to older albums. I've went in looking for albums before only to find that some of them were £17+!!!

Ah, I've never been into HMV for a while now so I haven't seen the new prices.

Gamestation on New St should be as well, they did for DS and 360, and IMO Gamestation >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GAME.

Come to Kiddy, theres a reason their staff are nicknamed "big fat neil" and "twiggy". Weird people.

My manager, in a rare moment, said something kind of wise. Gamestation get the teens who in large buy nothing, we get the more serious gamers and the parents.
