Nolan Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 I’m not a game music person typically. There’s a lot of music I like in game but only a few songs I like to listen to outside of gaming. (Like some Nier music or Dancing Mad) This soundtrack has been a bit of a bop for me. Notables; The Whisper, Playing in the Sun, The Last Tear, The Hero but all of the songs are pretty good and most are catchy.
Julius Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Bet you'll never guess what I'm playing... Totally just stood in that room for 5 minutes. What a vibe setter; Firelink Shrine vibes, or maybe I should say Firelink Shrine has Safe Room vibes?
Julius Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) Trails has managed to sneak its way into my Spotify and YouTube recommendations. There's this more emotive piece: And this absolute banger: I'm taking this as a sign from the Gaming Gods that I should probably be making the time to play a Trails game some time next year. Dcubed Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Secondary to the bombshell discovery that was Photo Dojo DX (a cancelled 3DS sequel to one of DSiWare's best games), it just so happens to have an absolute banger of a soundtrack! The full soundtrack (of 8 songs) from this unreleased demo can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/@saladplainzone/videos
Cube Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Considering that their contracts regarding music mean that they fully own the music written for their games, Nintendo are one of the companies that can legally release all this unused music, for cancelled projects or ones that were made for finished games but never used. But, unfortunately, Nintendo are one of the companies that would never release this music, so it just sits in a vault for nobody to ever hear (although someone in the comments of the Stage music says it was re-used in Labo Vehicle Kit).
Julius Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Had a really weird hankering specifically for the Konami logo piece from Metal Gear Solid of all things a couple of weeks ago, and played it on repeat for a good while. And then, well, obviously I found the Policenauts opening, with that extra funk to it: Scratching my head wondering why this hasn't been sampled in any major way that I'm aware of, it's an obvious piece to sample for a lot of rappers imo. Elsewhere, this restored Corneria theme from Star Fox: Never noticed before listening to this version that it's a similar tempo (the high, uh, we'll call them "beep boop beep boops" in the background which occasionally takes centre stage) to the bike chase theme from FFVII: Oh, also, seems like I really need to play Persona 5 Strikers, because MY GOD THE MUSIC Lastly, one for you @Helmsly, found the added lyrics in The 8-Bit Big Band's cover of MvC2's I Wanna Take You for a Ride were really fun 1 1
Julius Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) This cover of the Pokémon Emerald Frontier Brain battle music (from the same guy who did the Ruby & Sapphire and Diamond & Pearl medleys, Dr Pez) is something else And that something else is perfection 2:47 onwards holy damnnnnnn Edited January 31 by Julius
Glen-i Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) Considering how much I love Dancing Mad, it always feels like a bit of a shame that not many games has done the whole "1 song that develops as you progress through each phase of a final boss" thing. Well, you know, except Kirby. Kirby did it. Probably my favourite final boss theme from that series. Although that said, Forgotten Land's "Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit" is a metal as hell name for a song. Edited March 8 by Glen-i 2
The Bard Posted Wednesday at 10:38 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:38 AM Someone's probably already dropped this in here, but honestly any given version of this tune is elite. 1

Gotta love it. Meanwhile, never expected to hear German rap in Street Fighter, but it's probably the best track in SF6. Ayy, fighting game player. You still playing T8? Also how can you say Azucena is the best newcomer when Reina exists? Cmaaan.
Julius Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM Still remember my first time at Village Bridge in Pokémon White and then just standing there for 15 minutes to soak in the music and the vibes. Reminds me quite a bit of Suikoden II's Secret Village of the Ninja, now that I think about it: Both such excellent tracks

I wish I managed to even play it This past year has been a rollercoaster in my life, and I haven't been giving any attention to newer fighting games (outside of the occasional Smash tourney, and a spell of time where I got to play some older Arcade games on a Pandora's Box for lunch break). Even City of the Wolves (a game I'm mega-hyped for) takes a backseat to other priorities. That said, I do like keeping up still. I stand that Azucena is the best newcomer: I've always loved the sillier and cookier side-characters from Tekken, and they're getting increasingly rare. On a related note, I really hope Bob is part of Season 2.

The goofy stuff is always great. I've mained Heihachi since T3, and I'm so bummed out that they removed his bb3+4 run just because it was such a hilarious move to grief with. City of the Wolves is literally a miracle. I never expected a follow up to Gorou, but here we are. Fighting games are so back.
