chairdriver Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Sex Drive looks awful. But then ReZ, you are the type of person that loves Superbad, so you'll probably enjoy it.
Nolan Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Sex Drive looks awful. But then ReZ, you are the type of person that loves Superbad, so you'll probably enjoy it. You make loving Superbad sound like a bad thing. Loving Superbad is the best decision one can make.
ReZourceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 A) Superbad is amazing. B) Sex Drive has had very positive reviews, and it has Seth Green in. I don't need any other reason to watch it to be fair.
Coolness Bears Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I have to admit that I didn't read the rest of this post, as that just had me cracking up, haha. PS: We saw you in That 70s show early. You looked The Sex. Haha thanks. I should smell the sex now as I got some man perfume (or whatever it's called) for christmas! Well I would if I stopped spraying it in my eye...
ReZourceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Oh yeah, Coolness that is the one. Its a donut with a somberero (sp) and a moustache as well I believe. Edit;/ I knew there was a b in there, I accidentally left it out.
Fierce_LiNk Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Haha thanks. I should smell the sex now as I got some man perfume (or whatever it's called) for christmas! Well I would if I stopped spraying it in my eye... Ooo, what did you get? I got some Bvlgari (Soir) recently. It's pronounced Bull-gaari, but I called it Bull-gary the other week, which made me seem like a filthy commoner! *hides the fact he's from Neewwwport. Emphasis on the ewww. *
Coolness Bears Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Sombrero? Ooh yeah that's the one, I remember seeing a picture ages ago! Yeah I have no idea what the films about or whether it's good or not but it has a man dressed up as a mexican doughnut. if there is any reason to watch a movie it is that! Ooo, what did you get? I got some Bvlgari (Soir) recently. It's pronounced Bull-gaari, but I called it Bull-gary the other week, which made me seem like a filthy commoner! *hides the fact he's from Neewwwport. Emphasis on the ewww. * Something from Next called signature, sounded stylish... It doesn't do much! :p I was disappointed, I'd never worn any before. I thought an explosion of madness would envelope my face and a cloud of mysterious desire would shrowd over me. In short I still get laughed at on the streets.

You should watch the trailer it looks so wicked! http://www.apple.com/trailers (havn't got a direct link as am at work)
Dan_Dare Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I haven't watched it yet, but I'm planning on it. I'm going to use some early lyrics, and bonus points to whoever guesses what movie first. "I get no kicks from Champaign. Mere alcohol doesn't thrill me at all. So tell me, why should I get a belt...out of yooou? CooOoocainnn-" "Hold it hold it. I meant a song, a real song. Like: Swing high, sweeet chariot." *pauses* "Don't know that one... Well how about the Camptown lady?" "The Camptown Lady?" "Oh you know" That outta be enough, the movie is a classic someone should get it. I'd rate it 9/10 though. Blazing Saddles. Best comedy ever made.
Beast Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Seed of Chucky Great black comedy but I wouldn't call it a horror 7/10 Has anyone seen the japanese live-action version of Death Note? It's probably been rated here somewhere but I don't wanna go through 378 pages, lmao. I've never seen the anime (though I really want to) but the trailer for the movie looks fantastic.
gaggle64 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Quantum of Solace A decent followup to Casino Royale with plenty of pace and stylish setpieces, with me just about clinging to the plot as the film charged through one explosion after another. I do hope this shaky-cam method of filming action goes out of fashion soon though. And do our embassies often send strip-o-grams on official business?
Wesley Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Good. Predictable. But nice.
Ashley Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Blazing Saddles. Best comedy ever made. Nope. That would be your face. Slumdog Millionaire Was a bit distracted during so I missed some of the subtitles but I liked what I saw. Reminded me of Tekkonkinkreet in ways. And even though you know the ending it was still tense at times. Quite good the way they explained how he knew the answers. I loved the fact they did the big musical number over the credits. Nice to stick to tradition.
ReZourceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 ReZourcemans Top 10 of the Year 2008 10) The Incredible Hulk The second Marvel Studios film, and it cements itself firmly and establishes itself in the same film universe, whilst being a completely different entity. This is just incredibly exciting and quite unique for a film franchise. The action was great, the acting was good, the casting was brill, and....the end...love love. I bought this film on Blu Ray. 8.2/10 9) Juno Very soulful and atmospheric in places, the setting is nice, wonderfully acted and very sweet and cool. Michael Cera...get. Just a nice all rounder. 8.2/10 8) Cloverfield I love Cloverfield really. I don't rate it as highly as my first view, but I still adore it. I like the mystery to it...however it suffered slightly from JJ Abrams over-mystery-syndrome. They should have showed the monster a little more. So thats a good and bad point. Still really loved it, as it is very unique. I bought this on DVD. 8.5/10 7) No Country For Old Men An interesting story with some absolutely fantastic direction and epic dialogue. Truely "film making". 8.8/10 6) Iron Man Amazing. Bloody amazing. RDJ nailed Tony Stark so perfectly its not even funny. The role was practically made for him. The ending of course, absolutely brilliant, the enemy was good...not brilliant, but good, and it was a near perfect origin story for Iron Man. Love love. I bought this on Blu Ray. 9/10 5) Wanted God this film was so much fun and incredibly entertaining. Packed with speed, action, wit and ridiculous story. What else could you ask for? Oh yeah Angelina Jolies soaking wet delicious ass shot, panning up from the legs. Fantastic. I want this on Blu Ray....in fact I want the US special edition. 9/10 4) Pineapple Express I've said it before but I will happily say it again. I want to have man babies with Seth Rogen. I actually adore him. This film kicks so much ass. Typical stoner comedy...well actually not typical...typical Seth comedy, + stoner-age, and add in action elements. The chemistry and relationship of Seth and James Franco is brilliant and this film is just fresh and hilarious. I will probably get on Blu Ray or at the very least DVD + Digi Format. 9.1/10 3) Zack and Miri Make A Porno I've said it before but I will happily say it again. I want to have man babies with Seth Rogen. God I love a nice love story. I love, absolutely LOVE the cast of this film. Brilliantly weaved into a Kevin Smith story, with great comedy and loverly happenings. Makes me laugh AND feel warm and fuzzy. Might buy on DVD...saw it twice at the cinema, so probably not for a while then. 9.1/10 2) Taken This was a suprise. It looked awesome, but it turned out to be blisteringly adrenaline pumpingly boner inducing. Liam Neeson kicks ass and takes names. Its well acted, Liam makes an intimidating and truely bad ass father, Maggie Grace is looking hot, and its just the action and suspense that shoots on all cylinders. Excellent. 9.2/10 1) The Dark Knight Don't need to comment on this because I'm frankly sick of reading and talking about it. Masterpiece basically. 9.45/10 Looking at all my tickets....the statistics. I have seen 34 films at the cinema this year. The worst was Four Christmases, and the rest I enjoyed in some way or another. Only about 5 or less that I didn't like hugely. A great cinema year.
Paj! Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I kinda hate your list. Juno was interesting/fun at the time, but I've seen it about 4 tmes and it's now less fun. And Wanted isn't 9/10. By any stretch of the imagination.

By any stretch of the imagination. You have to remember we look for different things in films. Our taste overlaps at points but essentially couldn't be more different, and I hope you can respect that.
Wesley Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 You have to remember we look for different things in films. Our taste overlaps at points but essentially couldn't be more different, and I hope you can respect that. Ah, that's quite nice and pleasant of Rez. And not even a bad joke in sight.
ReZourceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Juno was also 2007 Released in the UK in 2008.... Actually...I don't know. But I saw it in February 2008, and I'm pretty sure I saw it as soon as my cinema got it. I store my tickets in chronological order. Ah, that's quite nice and pleasant of Rez. And not even a bad joke in sight. Bonus joke. Q "Whats that film about the pregnant teenage girl?" A "Juno?" Q "No, thats why I'm asking you."

But made in 2007 and if I recall correctly part of the 2007 awards season. Which is why you shouldn't live in the UK :p (and yeah thinking about it it was released around my birthday and I thought about taking people but they'd all been around mine and seen it several times)

Our taste overlaps at points but essentially couldn't be more different, and I hope you can respect that. I do (because I love you), but in general you have quite bad taste. Though I do realise you seek, more often than not, just pure comedy and stuff. Or basic entertainment, action etc. Still, you put your list up for comments.

We all know I am a retard/have shit taste. I love you too, and I do seek your comments. I do much prefer comedies or comic book type films to anything else really, but I can literally adore any film potentially. I feel its a pretty good and varied list quite representative of my taste.
Ashley Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I don't think I've seen enough films this year to really qualify. Or those I have I haven't really paid attention to or I just borrowed crap from work to relax to. The Fall looks like it may be the contender for 09 (even if I haven't watched it yet and it was released in 08 in America) though.
dazzybee Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Watched three films over the past 2 days, christmas pressie blurays!! LOVED: Didn't know what to expect. Thought the film was fantastic, I was a bit drunk whilst watching it so don't know if that added to the enjoyment. As everyone says Junior was amazing as Stark, the script helped but he was great. Great balance of humour, action and story. HATED: Jeff Bridges creating the robot in secret was a little annoying, but the fact he could control the suit perfectly first time was stupid! We say Stark struggling with a suit he designed and knew intimately, but Jeff steps straight into it and knows how to control EVERYTHING!! Also, Stark flying towards the moon and the suit freezing was a weak plant to set up for the ending. OVERALL: 4/5 LOVED: I love the character of Hulk, I love Ang Lees Hulk and I was dreading this to be stupid. It wasn't. I liked the heavy play on Norton not wanting to be the hulk! Good. The design was good. Most of the S/FX were good, the action was amazing. I loved Tim Roths character (performance not amazing though) and the way he fought. HATED: Liv Tyler was shit! Every time she forced whispered "Bruce!" I wanted to punch her bee stung lips!! I HATED with a passion the AWFUL gag with the taxi!! Hated with less passion, but still pretty ferociously Ferringos cameo. Also hated the Norton meditating turning into the Hulk ending. Cliched and didn't work at all! OVERALL: 3.5/5 LOVED: I love Dr Seuss. I love the book this is based on. And I love this film. It's incredible!! I'm not Jim Carreys biggest fan but he does a great job here. The film is so funny, has so much heart, the animation is so good!! I love the little yellow creature. Love the 'anime' scene. Love pretty much everything about it HATED: A couple of usual Carrey moments. A point at the end where it goes into a song and dance number. Both times it manages to save itself - phew!! OVERALL: 4.5/5
