Shorty Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Be Kind Rewind 5/10 When I laughed, I laughed a lot, but the acting and script were awkward, the slapstick that created the point of the film dissapeared half way through and left me confused as to what kind of film I was watching. The whole thing lacked ambition and was full of strange unexplained moments that didn't make sense. The remakes were what I went to see the film for, and they were undoubtedly brilliant, they just didn't stay in focus enough.
Happenstance Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Fargo First time ive actually seen it and I really liked it. Interesting story, great acting and possibly the best accents to listen to. They're all so damn chipper there! 8.5/10
ReZourceman Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I was talking about the rambo films Don't get me started about how good the rocky films are...You watch rocky I and you believe you can take over the world! No, Rocky is just the nickname that people give the Rambo films.
Goron_3 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 No, Rocky is just the nickname that people give the Rambo films. ha that wud be so cool. Btw i'm seeing rambo tonight in MK at 9:30...you should go watch it too
Goron_3 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Oh right, where abouts do you live? A lil area called Downs Barn (it neighbours the City Centre in MK). So yeah I can literally walk to the cinema in bout 10mintues.

Wow, didnt know we lived so close. Good stuff. Which cinema do you go to The Point or Cineworld? Ive only ever gone to Cineworld, which is quite nice, although the sweet attendants are a bit weird. Im all for employing people with learning difficulties etc, but when you've got them calling the children who buy sweets "cu**s" something should surely be done?
Happenstance Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I definately prefer the cineworld in MK to the point, nice and spacious. I only occassionally go there though as Northampton cineworld is closer for me.

I used to go to the Point as a young 'un but since Cineworld opened i've always gone there. Very spacious! But yeah, some of the people that work there are tards.
Guest Stefkov Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Rambo. It was so good I cried. Literally, at the end, I felt a tear trickle down my face.
Goron_3 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Rambo.... Dear god it was INCREDIBLE! How anyone can ever make a better action movie is beyond me. Stallone is an action god. 9/10
Haver Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Notes on a Scandal: solllid. Nice to see the obsessive friendship get a little time on the screen, don't see many riffs on contemporary friendships. Knocked Up: knew nothing of the sexism/pro-life scandals while watching it, and I did not discover them in the film. Just as good as Superbad. I will watch anything with Apatow or Rogen in. Looking forward to Zack and Miri Make a Porno. I have Death Proof and For Your Consideration to watch this weekend.
Zell Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I heard they're going to turn The Point into a club. Doesn't bother me though, haven't been there since I was twelve. Hooray for Xscape.
ReZourceman Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Wow the Bucks/Beds posse come crawling out of the wood work.
Jimbob Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Rambo 3 words can describe this movie. Bloody, Brutal, Violent. It was a bloody amazing movie, best i have seen of 2008 so far. Great acting and it showed what it is really like out in places like Burma. Oh, and if anyone is wondering the majority of what has been shown in trailers has made it into the final cut, including this scene What else to say really, nothing else i can say because it could spoil the movie for everyone who ain't seen it yet. I'll give this 9.5/10 because it is that good, and he did make good use of a discovery.
Haver Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Death Proof: reserve judgement for a second viewing.

I think it's because i love the character of Rambo for some reason I didn't feel as attached to him, though i think it's because he talked more really. Also, the ending could have been better; it should have made my eyes water but it didn't...Weird. It would have been better if as he walked off they played the actual song 'It's a long road' from the first Rambo, instead of just the instrumental. Ah well, loved it can't wait to see it again!

The fact that he went back to America should have made my eyes water, but i dunno, it didnt which was weird. Ah well, loved it can't wait to see it again! Spoiler Tags?
Cube Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Run, Fat Boy, Run While it's a shame that Nick Frost isn't in it, Run, Fat Boy, Run is still a fun film, just not as great as SotD or HF. 7.5/10 On my "watching soon" list: There Will Be Blood, Rambo, Napoleon Dynamite and The Great Escape (someone's forcing me to watch this as It's apparently compulsory for everyone in the country to watch it at least once).
Slaggis Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I Want Candy What? A British film without Hugh Grant or Colin Firth in? That's impossible! I expected something not too bad (Empire gave it a good review) and I got something pretty good. Some truly funny moments, and nothing boring. Some funny characters and a great story. It ended to quickly though. Carmen Electra and the Polish guys were awesome. As was the "baby wipe" moment. 8/10
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Fuck Rambo. I can't stop thinking about Persepolis... I must see it! It's itching me inside. :S :S
killthenet Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Stranger Than Fiction Incredibly dull. Based on an entirely rubbish premise, the writer clearly bum's Charlie Kaufman too much, specifically "Adaptation". It is a bore fest all round, but surprisingly Tony "Buster Bluth" Hale is one of the films main characters, which upsets me a huge amount. Also Dustin Hoffman confirms that his career has now gone completely off the rails. Apparently the book that is central to the plot is a literary masterpiece, but the characters writing is so cliched and hamfisted this is never quite believable. Also it has the beautiful Queen Latifah, who is as rubs in this film as she has ever been. 0/10 Also, I saw There Will Be Blood again tonight. Darn good watching.

Noodleman Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Juno : Was alright fail to see why its been oscar nominated. If Juno said dude one more time I was going to stab her. The surporting cast was quite good. Typical indie film by numbers really. 6.5/10 Hellboy : I enjoyed it more then I did when I watched it in the cinema, its aged quite well I think. Looking forward to the 2nd one. Ron Perlman such a legend. 7.5/10 A History Of Violence : Quite enjoyed this one, Viggo so cool. typical Cronenberg awesomeness really. 8/10
